GEAUXCRO - Speed ratings on the turf point to this horse as a legit contender. Has the best in the field for this dist-surf. I have to like this gelding's chances to win at the shorter distance. This racer should go right out to the early lead and may never look back. Could wire-to-wire the field. This animal likes the turf a whole heck of a lot better. Look at the start 2 races back on May 22nd and take a note on the surface change. We may be sitting on a real live one! Often a thoroughbred that runs well on the sod will adore a track with tight turns like Evangeline Downs. SPARKY SPARKLES - I think the shorter distance will help this gelding stay the distance. Have to make this gelding a strong challenger; he comes off a good outing on June 26th. The horse with the top average class rating in turf events is usually a solid play. This racer fits the bill. D'ROCKETMAN - Horses out of the barn of Broberg have been solid on the turf. I'd calculate a good performance. Have to give this gelding a good chance. Ran a solid effort last time around the track within the last month. I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a return to racing.

CAJUN CHAOS - I find it hard to play any thoroughbred in a sprint race at 2/1 when he hasn't shown any competitive efforts in sprints in the last two months. Don't think this entrant will make an impact in today's event. That last speed rating was quite unimpressive when compared with today's Equibase class figure. FUTURE RULER - This was a live horse, but now this one hasn't been doing anything in the morning. Have to be a little leery with this horse. SMOOTH COLLIERY - In any race of 5 furlongs, I like to back a contender that has been looking good in sprint races lately. Don't think this racer will do much running in today's race. That last rating was most unsatisfactory when compared with today's class figure.
