Trent Thornton (3-7, 5.45 ERA) gets the start for the Jays in Thursday's game. He is coming off of the injured list (elbow inflammation) and could be rusty today and in the process allow this underrated Baltimore offence to unload on him offensively. In his last three starts Thornton garnered a bloated 7.34 ERA .Thornton owns a 1.54 WHIP and .270 batting average against in 21 starts this season.Meanwhile, Os starter Wojciechowski despite of two recent quality starts, was 0-3 with a 5.74 ERA in his first four games (three starts) with Baltimore after he was acquired from the Cleveland organization July 1 and according to my power rankings does not matchup well vs this sometimes explosive Toronto offence that is loaded full of young top tier talent.

Thursday's free play on the Cubs and Cards to end their set with another Under.
The runs have been very hard to come by this week in the Gateway City, as Tuesday's opener saw only 3 runs score, while last night's middle game saw just 2 runs cross the plate. Obviously, both affairs held Under the total.
Some more Under numbers to think about....these teams are now 6-2 Under the total in their last 8 series meetings this year, and the Under is 8-1 the last 9 times the teams have played in St. Louis.
The Cardinals are now 22-6 Under the total their last 28 home games, while the Cubs are now 11-2-1 Under the total their last 14 games played this year.
Look for Jon Lester and Jack Flaherty to keep the hitters at bay, and for another Cubs-Cardinals game to land Under the total.

Thursday comp play on L.A. on the Run Line over San Diego.
Los Angeles is seeking a little payback on their division-rivals, as the last time the teams meet just after the 4th of July, the Padres swept the 3 game set at Petco Park over the first-place Dodgers.
Don't count on it happening again, as the Dodgers had won 5 of the previous 6 in the season series prior to getting broomed at Petco Park in early July.
Clayton Kershaw is looking for his 10th win of the season, as he enters at 9-2 with his usual low 2.85 ERA. He is 1-0 in 3 starts this season against the Friars, and 19-6 for his career against them.
Joey Lucchesi will counter with his 7-5 season mark, but is just 1-3 for his young tenure against the Dodgers, and his ERA against them is approaching 7.
I will back L.A. on the Run Line in tonight's first game of four from Chavez Ravine.

The Hall of Fame game kicks off the beginning of professional football this season. Denver has attracted the betting attention in this one, going from a Pick to -2.5. I can agree with this as the Broncos have more to prove with a first-year head coach in Vic Fangio than Atlanta's more veteran club. Also, Falcons coach Dan Quinn has shown he doesn't give a crap about August results at 4-12 ATS, which includes 0-8 ATS the last two years.Comment

Take the Los Angeles Sparks minus the points versus the Las Vegas Aces. Los Angeles (11-8) returns to the court for the first time after the All-Star break having won seven of their last nine games with their 78-66 victory in Atlanta back on July 23rd. The Aces have covered the point spread in 11 of their last 14 home games having won five or six of their last seven games. Los Angeles is also 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 games when playing with at least three days of rest. Las Vegas (14-6) comes off an 86-54 win over Dallas on Tuesday. But the Aces are just 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games off a straight-up win. Las Vegas has also failed to cover the point spread in 10 of their last 12 games against teams with a winning record.
