CLOSER STILL (IRE) - This rider and handler have a profitable ROI when they join forces. A definite class advantage goes to this horse. To me, that's a good indication she will be very competitive in this race on the turf. Lets try to beat the morning-line favorites with this filly. Just missed last out, but ran a pretty good race. JUJU'S SPECIALGIRL - Taking a trip to a lower class rank; has the class to make her presence felt. LIFEFULLOFREINBOWS - This racer is for real on the turf. TrackMaster turf fig in last race at Indiana Downs was tops in this bunch. LOVELY CHARLIE - This front running sort should benefit from today's shorter trip. That 92 fig this mare recorded in her last affair tells me she's a main player this time around.

I have to consider BUSTIN THE BANK in this event especially at 8/1. He has to be considered given the formidable speed figs. This gelding obviously likes the distance, going 6 for 28 in his races lately. The average Equibase class rating of 83 makes this one difficult to beat. U CALL ME ALEX - Has performed well as of late in route races, posting a nifty 81 avg speed fig. Has to be considered here if only for the decent speed rating put up in the last race. FINANCIAL FREEDOM - Well above average win clip at this distance/surface. Recorded a very good speed rating last time out.

MY TRUMP CARD - Have to give this thoroughbred a long hard look. In recent races, has posted the best speed figs on the turf at this distance. I like the case that this gelding's last speed fig, 66, is tops in this bunch. PITMAN VALLEY - Barbaran rode this thoroughbred for the first time last out and comes right back this time. A win percent the likes of what Barbaran and Bright have achieved together is out of sight.

MR. NOBODY - You think this horse is going to finish first just because he's always close. Just doesn't get the job done regularly. This gelding hasn't been getting the job done as the public's choice. This runner ran a somewhat easily forgotten speed fig last out. He shouldn't improve and will probably lose in today's event running that rating. JAHAAFEL - Tough to recommend since I think a 'strong performance bounce' is in the works this time out. I'M RUNNING LATE - Didn't do a whole lot last time out of the box. Probably won't make an impact in today's race. All types of crazy zip on board for this contest. Slight chance for this speed merchant. Mediocre speed rating last out at Mountaineer Park at 5 furlongs. Don't think this horse will improve too much in today's race.

They are 9-1 off a win and have won 8 of 9 at home vs a team that is .400 or less. Miami has lost last 6 here, 23 of 31 on Tuesdays and 20 of 26 after losing the first 2 games of a series. I was on the wrong side of the A's loss to the Cubs on Monday, but I again feel the value is too good to pass up with Oakland on Tuesday. Even with the loss yesterday, A's are a red-hot 6-2 in their last 8 games.
Oakland put up 5 runs in the loss and have scored 5 or more in 3 of their last 4 games. I look for the offense to stay hot here against Cubs starter Jon Lester, who just gave up 5 runs on 9 hits in his last start at St Louis. Lester has a mere 4.50 ERA in his last 3 starts.
A's will counter with Brett Anderson, who has delivered his best outings on the road. Anderson is 5-2 with a strong 3.49 ERA and 1.090 WHIP in 11 road starts. Oakland is 13-3 in their last 16 off a SU loss and have won 6 straight road starts by Anderson. Cubs are also just 3-9 in their last 12 vs a left-handed starter and 2-5 in Lester's last 7 starts vs a team with a winning record. Take Oakland!

The Colorado Rockies will send out German Marquez (10-5 4.68 ERA) to take on the Houston Astros and Zack Greinke (10-4 2.90 ERA), who will be making his Astros debut. Aside from allowing 11 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings last month, Marquez has pitched really well, especially considering he calls Coors Field home. Greinke has faced the Rockies four times this season and has allowed nine earned runs in 26 innings. Over his last two starts against the Rockies he has allowed five earned runs and 15 hits. The Rockies are familiar with Greinke and should give him a rough time in his first start in Houston. Expect Greinke's Astros debut to get to him and not be as welcoming as he hopes.
