Another line that to me looks very fishy Atlanta comes in losers of 10 straight but this team battles as they took the best in the West for all they had on Tuesday as that game finished 94-90. Mercury have played under their potential all season and have recently been in a downward spiral as this team seems to have given up. Atlanta gets the cover here and maybe the win outrite.

It will be Kenta Maeda and Mike Soroka to the bump, and I like these pitchers to keep the traffic on the bases limited, as this series opener holds Under the posted total.

True, Maeda has allowed 11 runs - 10 of them earned - over his last 13-plus innings worked, but he is coming off a brilliant 7 scoreless innings worked with just 3 hits allowed, and 7 punchouts recorded in his last start versus Arizona. It is a start that held Under the total. For Maeda, 7 of his last 8 starts dating back to July 6th have played Under the posted total.

In the other dugout, Mike Soroka continues to have impressive start after start, as the righty also worked 7 scoreless frames in his last start. He also allowed just 3 hits, and struckout 6 against the Marlins. 2 of Soroka's last 3 starts, and 4 of his last 6 starts overall have played Under the posted price.

XAtlanta held Under the total in their series finale last night at home against the Mets, as they are now on a 6-2-1 Under run their last 9 games played on their home diamond.

Friday night's freebie goes out on the Red Sox as a Run Line play over the Orioles.


Baltimore just concluded a rather lopsided season-series with division rival New York, as the O's dropped all 4 in the Bronx to make it 16 straight losses to the Yankees this year, and also advanced their current losing skid to 9 of their last 10 overall. Since 7 of those 9 setbacks have come by 2 runs or better, why not just go with Boston -1 1/2 runs tonight and lay a little juice?


The Red Sox showed some resolve in their just completed series against the Cleveland Indians, as they wound up edging the Tribe in the last pair of meetings.


Boston has won 6 of the last 8 season series meetings over Baltimore this year, and they have also won 10 of the last 14 meetings against the Orioles at Fenway Park.


Aaron Brooks will take his turn getting roughed up on the mound in this Friday affair. Brooks' last 4 turn in the rotation have seen 23 runs score in just under 17 innings of work!


Rick Porcello has not had a very good season, but he is 10-9 on the year, and he rates the nod tonight over Brooks, as he does have the better 9 hitters coming out of his dugout to stake him some runs.


I expect runs to be scored, and in the end Boston to have at least 2 more runs than Baltimore.

I played against the Cubs in all 3 games as they got swept by the Phillies the last 3 days. While Chicago is not the same team on the road as they are at home, I think we are getting way too good a price to pass up with the Cubs in this one.
What will get lost in last night's crushing defeat to the Phillies is the Cubs came out after getting whomped 10-1 and really played well for 8 innings (gave up 6 in the 9th). I don't think this team crumbles from that loss. They bring the same intensity as yesterday and maybe some more.
Not to mention there might not be a better team to get right against than the Pirates. Pittsburgh is a mess and have gone just 6-25 since the All-Star break. Today's starter is Joe Musgrove. He's got a 7.98 ERA and 1.637 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Pirates are also 1-10 in their last 11 at home. Take Chicago!

I know you don't want to get into the habit of playing the UNDER at Yankee Stadium and I know these two teams just combined for 24 runs on Thursday. I still think there's tremendous value in Friday's matchup with the total at 10.5. The starting pitching matchup is simply too good for a double-digit total. Masahiro Tanaka goes for New York and he's got a 3.29 ERA and 1.147 WHIP in 13 home starts. Cleveland seems to have an endless supply of starters. One of their more recent additions is Aaron Civale. Guy has made 3 starts and has a 1.00 ERA and 0.722 WHIP with a solid 9.0 K/9 ratio. In his last start, he went on the road and held a similar power lineup of the Twins to just 1 run on 4 hits in 6 innings. It's also important to note that while the conditions are favorable, temps are only expected to be in the high 70's, so the ball shouldn't carry like you would expect for a middle of August game in New York. Give me the UNDER 10.5!

Two 61-61 teams meet up tonight at Chase Field. And both teams sit 3½ games behind the Cubs for the NL’s second Wildcard spot. Being a Mariners fan I was pretty high on the season Mike Leake is having. This is more a play on him than it is on the DBacks.
In his first start for Arizona Leake only allowed 2 earned runs and in 8-4 win over Philadelphia, he did struggle vs. the Dodgers however, but who doesn’t? Leake has only faced the Giants once since 2016, and in that one he gave up 2 runs over 6 1/3. He does own a 5-2 record with a 4.62 ERA in 11 appearances vs. San Fran.
As for the Giants they’re 1-4 in their past 4 starts by Jeff Samardzija, and he is 9-9 with a 3.55 ERA. Look for Arizona to win a close low scoring game here.
