PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Antonio Senzatela (8-7, 6.29 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Michael Wacha (6-6, 5.22)

Senzatela returns to the majors for the first time since last month when he allowed 21 runs on 21 hits across 11 innings in three straight rough starts. Goldschmidt is 3-for-13 with a homer and a double against the 24-year-old Venezuelan, who is 1-2 with a 4.84 ERA in four career starts versus the Cardinals. Senzatela, who had a career-best 10 wins with the Rockies in 2017, was 1-1 with a 5.77 ERA in seven starts with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Wacha is winless in his last five outings after allowing three hits and a walk over four scoreless innings before getting pulled versus Milwaukee on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Texas A&M product has given up 10 runs on 24 hits across 20 1/3 innings during his winless stretch without completing more than five frames. Charlie Blackmon is 5-for-14 with an RBI against Wacha, who is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA at home this year and 1-1 with a 5.18 mark lifetime versus Colorado.

    WALK-OFFS

    1. Blackmon is just 1-for-12 in the series but is batting .333 this month with six homers and 10 RBIs.

    2. St. Louis C Yadier Molina needs two RBIs to reach 900 in his career and two walks for 500.

    3. The Rockies have lost six of the last seven against the Cardinals, whom they host on Sept. 10-12.

    PREDICTION: Cardinals 6, Rockies 3

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (15-5, 3.65 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Cole Hamels (7-4, 3.73)

Strasburg will be trying for the second time to obtain a career-high 16th win, getting a no-decision in his first attempt at Pittsburgh on Tuesday despite spinning seven scoreless innings. He has won 12 of his last 14 decisions, a run that began May 18 against the Cubs, whom he held to one earned run in eight innings of a 5-2 victory. The three-time All-Star, who needs nine strikeouts to reach 200 for the third time, has a 2.05 ERA in seven career starts against the Cubs.

Hamels went 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in his first three starts after returning from an oblique strain before returning to form his last time out. He yielded three runs and five hits over six innings against San Francisco on Tuesday while picking up his first victory since June 12. The 35-year-old has 17 wins against Washington - more than any other opponent.

      WALK-OFFS

      1. Chicago 1B Anthony Rizzo left Saturday's game with back tightness.

      2. Cubs RF Nicholas Castellanos had two hits Saturday and is batting .385 in 22 games since joining the team.

      3. Washington SS Trea Turner has reached base safely in 31 straight games.

      PREDICTION: Nationals 6, Cubs 4

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Domingo German (16-3, 4.15 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (13-2, 2.71)

German won seven straight decisions before faltering at Oakland on Tuesday, when he gave up five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings. He has an ERA of 6.21 over his last six starts, during which the 27-year-old has given up 12 home runs in 33 1/3 innings. German owns a 5.00 ERA in his career in interleague play and will be facing the Dodgers for the first time.

Kershaw has won six straight decisions and five consecutive starts after letting up three runs in six innings versus Toronto on Tuesday. That marked the eighth consecutive quality start for the three-time Cy Young Award winner, who has pitched at least six innings in all 22 outings this year. Kershaw tossed five scoreless innings in his last matchup with the Yankees in 2016 and has yielded only two runs and 10 hits over 20 innings spread over three career meetings.

        WALK-OFFS

        1. The Yankees activated RHP Cory Gearrin, who was claimed off waivers from Seattle on Friday, and optioned RHP Jonathan Loaisiga to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

        2. Dodgers C Russell Martin was placed on the bereavement list and the team recalled C Austin Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

        3. New York 2B Gleyber Torres is 9-for-20 with three home runs during his five-game hitting streak.

        PREDICTION: Dodgers 5, Yankees 3

                BOB VALENTINO

Sunday comp play will be the Steelers and the Titans to make their way Over the posted total in Nashville tonight.

I know this is a play that goes against the grain a little, as the Steelers defense just held the dangerous Kansas City Chiefs to a paltry 7-points in last week's 17-7 home win, but my feeling is Mike Tomlin will not wish to risk getting any of his main defenders injured so close to the regular season's start, and Pittsburgh will be a little easier to score on in this "practice" game.

Tennessee's starter is Marcus Mariota, but they also have Ryan Tannehill on the team, and should Mariota start sluggish, you can sure bet that Tannehill will be eager to win back a role as a starter in this league.

The Titans did hold Under the total in last week's home preseason game against New England, but they have still topped the posted impost in 6 of their last 9 in the preseason played at home.

The Steelers will likely give Big Ben a few series tonight, and while Roethlisberger will certainly not be put in harm's way, Mason Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs have been just fine in engineering points this August, as Pittsburgh posted 30 points in Week One, and came up with another 17 points last week against Kansas City. The Titans also posted 17 points last week against the Pats, and if both teams can get to that mark again tonight, then we are just a fluke TD away from seeing this small total come crashing down.

Also consider this is the last Sunday night nationally televised game before the real games get started, and I would think NBC would surely like to see some offense being flashed to peak the public's interest. Just saying.

                Steelers-Titans Over the total.

                  DWAYNE CONNORS

Sunday comp play is the Phillies and the Marlins to hold Under the total with Aaron Nola and Elieser Hernandez on the mound.

Both meetings this weekend have played Over the total, but keep in mind that both the Phillies and the Marlins had played 4 in a row Under the total prior to this weekend get together.

Nola has allowed 2 earned runs or less in his last pair of starts, and in 4 of his last 6 assignments overall. The Under has cashed the ticket in 4 of those 6 starts as well. He will be making his third start of the year against Miami and thus far has allowed just 3 runs - 2 of them earned - in his 14-plus innings worked.

For Hernandez, he just worked 4 innings of 1 run ball in an Under at Atlanta in his last start, and will be making his third start of the season against Philadelphia. Both of his previous starts back in the month of June against the Phils did hold Under the posted price.

Play it low on Sunday in the Phillies-Marlins game.
