The set-up: Two competent hurlers square off in this National League contest on Tuesday night and in my opinion, runs are DEFINITELY going to be at a premium. The visitors hand the ball to ace Jacob deGrom, while the home side goes with Max Scherzer.
The pitchers: deGrom (8-8, 2.66 ERA) comes in off a rare poor effort, allowing four runs over seven innings in a 4-1 loss to the Cubs. Overall though he’s 8-4 with a tiny 2.33 ERA in 18 career starts vs. Washington.
Scherzer (9-5, 2.46) is 10-5 with a 2.47 ERA in 20 games vs. New York lifetime.
The pick: The Mets won 7-3 in last night’s opener, but I think the stage is set for a classic “duel” with these two stud starters facing off. Consider the “under” in this one.

Guy has a 8.31 ERA in his last 3 starts and a 7.86 ERA on the road this season. Veteran Jon Lester goes for Chicago and he's off a fantastic start at NY, limiting the Mets to just 1 run on 5 hits in 6 innings. Perfect spot for him to build on that. Mariners have scored 3 or fewer in 5 of their last 7. Give me the Cubs -1.5 (-120)
