Marquette won three of last four games with Wisconsin, winning last two trips to Madison, by 2-19 points. Golden Eagles are off to 2-0 start, beating Purdue by 10 in last game Wednesday when Marquette trailed by 13 at half but outscored Boilers 40-17 in 2nd half. Poaching the McEwen kid from Utah State will help Marquette a lot- he had 23 vs Purdue. Wisconsin beat couple of stiffs by 13-20 points after losing by hoop to Saint Mary’s in their opener; Badgers start four seniors and a senior- they’re playing slow (#344) pace, shooting only 27.7% on arc.

Arizona is off to a 3-0 start, beating Illinois by 21 in between couple of wins over stiffs by 39-48 points; Wildcats start three frosh, two seniors, have two starters back from LY’s 17-15 team that went 8-10 in Pac-12. People are saying Arizona’s frosh PG Mannion is the best PG of the Mller era in Tucson. Wake Forest beat Charlotte the last three years, all by 17+ points; Deacons lost their only road game this year 77-70 at Boston College, then beat Columbia/NC-Asheville by 12-19 points. Wake doesn’t force many turnovers, doesn’t take many 3’s; they’re getting 25.8% of their points on foul line (#27). Deacons start two seniors, are experience team #151. The Saints gained only 52 yards on the ground, and the Bucs boast the best run defense in the NFL. Although the Bucs failed to cover the spread for a fifth straight game last week, note that they at least got the straight up win against Arizona. They lost by seven at New Orleans back in Week 5 and they should be able to keep it closer in front of the home town crowd.

Tampa Bay QB Jameis Winston has thrown for 300+ yards in four straight games and New Orleans' defense might be gassed out after putting on a clinic during the team's six-game winning streak that came to an end last time out.

North Dakota is 1-1 on the year with a 86-61 win over Crown University to go with a 97-66 loss at Gonzaga. The Fighting Hawks aren't playing a ton of defense and are allowing teams to shoot over 60% from two point land. Their offense could be a bit better, but the numbers are skewed a bit by the two different levels of competition. Valpo is 2-1 and has played three straight games of 73 possessions or more. The Crusaders have wins over Toledo (79-77) and SIU Edwardsville (89-76) to go along with an 81-70 loss to St. Louis. Last year this team's offense was brutal, but this year they are playing with a little more pace and are seeing some success. Defensively, they are allowing teams to shoot almost 56% from two point land. The loss of Ryan Fazekas is big, but I like Javon Freeman-Liberty who has stepped up along with Daniel Sackey who is running the offense well. I don't think the oddsmakers have caught up yet on how good this Valpo offense is right now. Give me the over.

IM A PATRIOT - Quinones and Lucas perform well when they combine forces. It's hard to beat a +59 return on investment for a jock and trainer. I like when a thoroughbred has dropped in class at least five class rating points like this one did last out and then runs against a similar field right back. Lucas must've found the right class. BLUE PLAID - Batista is back up for another affair today after riding on board this horse for the initial time on October 12th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. Trainer Meehan moves this animal down in class ranks to face a weaker class today. Look for a nice performance at this level. While the finish was disappointing, this magnificent animal made a good stretch move last time out at Charles Town. I'd expect a better race today. A repeat of that recent performance on October 12th where he earned a figure of 85 looks good enough to win in this event. He has the highest earnings per race. Take a good look at this animal.

TWO BIT KID - This colt hasn't had any positive results in short distance races in the last sixty days. In the last race this racer finished fourth. Doesn't look good for his chances this time around. I don't normally play a probable favorite that hasn't been to the track in the last 3 weeks. TIO MOSCO - Didn't make up any ground at all on Nov 2nd. Hard to play in today's event at the expected odds. Speed kills. Plenty of early speed in this affair compromises this animal's chances. Not probable that the speed rating he recorded on November 2nd will hold up in this race. MIDLAND - This was a fit horse, but now this one hasn't been doing anything in the morning. Have to be somewhat leery of this horse.

MAIN RULER is my choice. Is tough not to look at based on Equibase Speed Figures which have been strong - 52 avg - of late. With a strong 57 speed figure last time out, will definitely be a factor in this race. Has been racing well and has among the most favorable speed in the race for today's distance. INDIAN SENSE - Overall, has one of the top earnings per start in dirt route contests in this field. Could provide positive gains based on strong recent speed figures with an average of 50. KANTARITA - She has formidable class ratings, averaging 63, and has to be carefully examined for this event. Ought to go to the lead and could never look back.

KOLOCHA - She has earned respectable numbers under today's conditions and will most likely fare well against this field.

WHEN JESUS WALKED - Last ran at Golden Gate Fields and finished fifth. Reviewing his PP data, I see he was close at the end, within five of the winner. NERVOUS NELLIE - A pony coming back this soon after a good outing is a good omen. MY MAN DRAYMOND - Came home fast last time around the track at Golden Gate Fields. That type of move bodes well for his chances right here in this race. Gelding made up a ton of ground in a 6 furlongs race. May go better on the stretchout.
