I've got to go with ADONIS CREED. His 98 average has this gelding with among the best speed figures in this contest. Has been running solidly lately and should be close to the lead early on. Recorded a strong speed rating in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this race. ALWAYS A CATCH - Looks very good for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid figures in dirt sprint races lately. In this field, this horse is in the upper half of earnings per start in dirt sprint races. GRADE ONE - The winning percentage shown by horses entered by Broberg running at this distance are the best in this field. Looks quite good against this group of animals and will most likely be one of the front-runners.

IREDELL - Looking at today's class figure, this thoroughbred is meeting an easier field than last out at Penn National. Don't often see a profitable return on investment like +89. This jock/trainer duo has done well together over the last 12 months. Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. BELLOWS - This gelding has been working out well, and the recent bullet work says he's primed for a top effort today. This horse gets a barn change by way of a claim out of the last race. Trainer here is terrific off of the claim, so no reason why this thoroughbred won't have a chance at a big race. SAINT MICHAEL - Have to like this colt today. If you take a look at his PP lines you see a definite trend, getting closer with all race. This colt is in exceptional form right now. Ran second last out and comes back quickly. 63-66-69 are last three speed figures. Improving each time out is something he should do again today.

Can't knock the 3 loss Iowa Hawkeyes who also bring a 2 game bowl winning streak into this San Diego battle, but can this Iowa team that has not topped 27 points in any of their last 8 games rely on their defense-first approach to slow down this Trojans team that can put points on the board in a hurry?

So Cal features Freshman of the Year - Kedon Slovis at quarterback piloting an offense that ranks 5th in passing yards (right at 336 per game) and is scoring over 33 points per game for the season. Slovis will have Michael Pittman Jr. available for this game at wide receiver to go along with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Tyler Vaughns as they look to do damage against an Iowa stop-unit that ended the regular season 5th in scoring defense and 10th in passing defense.

Obviously, something has to give here tonight!!!

Iowa is led on offense by the steady senior Nate Stanley who is not going to out-sling Mr. Slovis, but is also not likely to hurt his team's chances at simply relying on their rugged defense to be the deciding factor come the end of this game.

USC finished the regular season with 3 straight wins and covers with 124 points scored in those 3 wins. This is a team that could lose their offensive coordinator, their defensive coordinator and their special teams coordinator after the season concludes. If that is the case, at least they all go out on top after missing the bowl circuit last year and losing to Ohio State 24-7 back in 2017.

Comp play for this Friday is the Cheez-It Bowl to hold Under the total as a pair of contrasting styles hit Chase Field in Phoenix.

It will be Washington State and Air Force doing battle and something has to give. The Cougars come in ranked first in the nation in passing yards behind quarterback Anthony Gordon and 6th in the nation in in total offense with over 500 yards per game gained. Meanwhile, Air Force comes in 3rd in the land in rushing yards as Troy Calhoun's team is near 300 yards rushing per contest for the season.

The key to the win for the Falcons who are bowling for the first time since 2016 will be keeping the football out of the hands of Gordon and the Wazzou offense. Air Force closed the regular season with Unders played in 4 of their last 5 games.

Washington State's attack mustered just 13 points in the Apple Cup battle with Washington to close the regular season in a game that held Under the total, to snap a 4 game Over streak they had been on.

Since the Falcons are 7th in the nation in time of possession, as they are averaging about 33 minutes of possession per contest. With that being the case, going to look for Air Force's best chance at winning this bowl game to keep the clock moving, I am going to look for this total to be just a little too high to get Over.
