Free College Basketball Prediction From Doc's Sports: Take Florida International over Marshall (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23) As for this game, it looks like an ambush. Florida International is a completely different team at home and they have won eight straight in Miami. Marshall, coincidentally, is not nearly as good when they play off their home court. And after a rough week last week, getting swept in a home-and-home with Western Kentucky, I wonder where their focus is going to be on this road trip. Marshall wants to play fast, but they don't play any defense. That is going to play right into FIU's hands. They like to trap full court and play up-tempo, except they are the much better defensive team. This spread should be around 5.5, but I think that the books are going to short it. I also think that Marshall is going to continue to be terrible on the road while FIU continues their solid home court play. Lay the points here in this CUSA matchup.Comment

The Charlotte Hornets are one of the most rested teams in the NBA right now. They will be playing just their 4th game in 15 days tonight. So you know you’re going to get a big effort out of them tonight in Washington.
The Wizards are in a tough spot. They are in their first game back home following a four-game road trip, and I like fading teams their first game home after a road trip because of all the distractions they deal with when they return. The Wizards are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games following a road trip that lasted more than 7 days.
Washington is just 2-6 SU & 3-5 ATS in its last eight games overall. The Wizards have just given up playing defense apparently as they’ve allowed 152 points to the Hawks and 151 to the Bucks in back-to-back blowout losses. Opponents are scoring 121.3 points per game and shooting 49.2% from the floor against them this season.
The Hornets are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Charlotte is 20-6 ATS in its last 26 games vs. a team with a winning percentage below 40%. The Wizards are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite. Bet the Hornets Thursday.Comment

We love the way this sets up for IPFW. They are coming of 4 consecutive losses but during that stretch they faced the 4 of the top teams in the Summit (South Dakota State, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, and Omaha). Their most recent 2 were road losses @ South Dakota and @ Omaha and now they are back at home and hungry for a win. North Dakota is coming off 2 straight home wins but they were facing the 2 worst teams in the Summit (Denver & Western Illinois). Now they go on the road where they are 3-10 this season with their only conference win coming @ Denver who is 1-7 in conference play and 5-17 overall. IPFW is 7-3 at home this year with their 2 conference losses here coming vs South Dakota State (#1 rated team in the league) and Oral Roberts (#2 rated team in the league). In those games IPFW was a 1.5 point underdog in each just a few weeks ago and now they are just -2 vs a North Dakota team that rates #6 in the league just slightly above IPFW in our power ratings. These two met earlier this month and North Dakota was favored by 4.5 at home over the Mastodons. That, along with their spreads at home vs the two top teams in the league, tells us IPFW should be favored by 3.5 to 4.5 here but because of their 4 game losing streak, they are only favored by 2. When they met @ UND the host won by 14 hitting 57% from the field (12% above their average) and 45% from beyond the arc (10% above their average). We don’t expect them to produce anywhere close to those offensive numbers tonight on the road where they’ve struggled. UND is one of the worst spread teams in the nation going just 5-14 ATS overall this season and just 3-11 ATS as an underdog this year. IPFW is 3-0 ATS as a home favorite this year and 6-2 ATS in that role dating back to last year. IPFW gets the win and cover at home tonight.Comment

I really like the value here with the OVER in Thursday's Sun Belt matchup between Coastal Carolina and Arkansas-Little Rock. While these two played to a combined score of just 126 earlier this season, there's plenty of reason to expect a much higher-scoring affair this time around.
The Chanticleers couldn't have shot much worse in the first meeting, despite getting 18 more shots (73 to 55) they were outscored 71-55, as they shot just 31.5% from the field and were 5 for 25 (20%) from deep. That's an outlier for this team, as they are averaging 77.9 ppg on the season and 71.0 ppg in Sun Belt play.
Little Rock connected on 51% of their attempts and shot a healthy 39% from deep in that game. While great, it's not out of the ordinary for this team, which is averaging 73 ppg on 49% shooting in conference games.
Another key is we should get the tempo we need to go over a total of this magnitude, as the Chanticleers play at the fastest pace in the Sun Belt and are ranked 28th in tempo in the country.
OVER is 5-1 in Little Rock's last 6 as a favorite and 5-1 in their last 6 at home. OVER is also 8-1 in the Chanticleers last 9 road games and a perfect 5-0 in their last 5 on the road vs a team that's won more than 60% of their home games. Take the OVER!Comment
