I guess after playing 3 straight overtime affairs and having to go overtime in 4 of 5 games overall (all straight up wins no less!), the Tigers were due for a letdown. That letdown happened on Saturday when they came up short in a 12-point loss at Missouri as the -3 1/2 point road favorites. True, Isaac Okoro missed the game with the hamstring injury he sustained in the Tigers previous game against Alabama, but it was still a bit of a shock that Auburn dropped that game in Columbia.

Expect a bounce-back effort tonight against a Georgia team that has forgotten how to win. Tom Crean may have lured future first-round NBA pick Anthony Edwards to Athens, but Crean has appeared to lose his touch for pushing the right buttons to help his team find a win. Georgia has won just once in their last 9 games, and they have failed to cover the impost in any of their last 3 setbacks.

This is the second meeting between the conference rivals, the first going handily to Auburn, 82-60 as the double-digit home favorite back on January 11th.

Overall, the Tigers are on a 5 game series win streak and have claimed the win in 6 of the last 8 series meetings, while covering 5 of the last 6 meetings and in 8 of the last 10 overall series showdowns.

Okoro may miss this game, but I fully expect a bounce-back effort after the letdown loss the Tigers suffered over the weekend at Missouri.

Georgia's losing streak moves to 5 in a row straight up and 4 in a row against the spread at home on Wednesday.

Time to build off of that Tuesday winner and I will do just that with this Orange-Cardinals winner for Wednesday.

It's been a real grind for this year's Virginia team, as the defending NCAA Champs are defending in name alone. Gone from last year's squad are the names Guy, Hunter, Jerome and Salt, but the Cavaliers have been able to post a 17-7 mark largely due to their sticky "pack-line" defense that continues to serve them well.

Still, Virginia comes into this home revenge game with Boston College as the Eagles took flight and stopped a 6 game series losing streak that dated back to 2013 with a 60-53 home win over the Cavaliers in Chestnut Hill back on January 7th. In that game, BC was a +10 point home underdog. Have to believe if the points worked once they can work again since the Eagles have cashed 5 of the last 8 series meetings versus the Cavs plus the points.

The Wahoos have been a real money-burner in the role of favorite, as they have covered only 3 times in their last 16 tries when laying the wood. Not only that, but UVa is barely making 28% of their attempts from behind the arc for the season. No question Tony Bennett's team knows how to lock you down on defense, but that does not make them any kind of a "slam dunk" to pull away from a Boston College team that has cashed at the ticket window in 8 of their 12 tries this season - the first Virginia meeting included - when installed as a +5 points or more underdog on the year.

Stick with the trends that say to back the underdog in this ACC meeting from Charlottesville.

                  3* BOSTON COLLEGE

For Wednesday’s freebie in college hoops, we’ll back Duke as a road favorite at N.C. State.

Let’s start by focusing on Jan. 15. That’s the last time N.C. State won and covered on its home floor, beating Miami, Fla., 80-63 as a 9-point favorite. In three home games since then? 60-54 win over Clemson (failing to cash as a 6½-point chalk); 75-65 loss to pathetic North Carolina (as a 6½-point favorite); 77-57 loss to Louisville (as a 4-point pup).

In fact, since starting the season 7-4 ATS, NC State is 5-8-1 against the number, including 2-4-1 ATS at home and 2-4 ATS as an underdog.

Meanwhile, Duke comes into this one riding high. After rallying for a miracle victory (but non-cover) at North Carolina on Feb. 8, the Blue Devils outlasted Florida State (70-65) and destroyed Notre Dame (94-60), both at home. Yeah, I realize Duke has cashed in just four of its last seven games, going 1-4 ATS as a visitor (all as a favorite). But I also realize the Blue Devils have scored 74 points or more in 17 of their last 23 games, including 80-plus in 15 of those contests!

On the flip side, the Wolfpack have surrendered an average of 73.8 ppg in their last five outings. Not only that, but in the last five meetings with Duke, N.C. State has given up the following point totals: 94, 85, 82, 92 and 88.

With Duke looking to lock down a top-2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament (with an outside shot at a No. 1 seed), there’s little doubt it will be raring to go from the opening tip. This one smells like a double-digit romp, so lay the chalk with full confidence.

                    3* DUKE

My free play for tonight is on the Anaheim Ducks, catching money against the Florida Panthers.

While the Ducks don't figure to be mixed up in the final Western Conference playoff crunch, the fact is they're not out of the wild-card race, mathematically. They're 13 points back of Calgary and Arizona, and it would take a miracle to get in the hunt, but that doesn't mean they can't play the spoiler role.

The Ducks open a six-game homestand and enter tonight's contest with points in six of their last eight games (4-2-2), and roll in on a 7-4-2 run.

Florida, meanwhile, is in the midst of a five-game road trip that started with a 5-3 victory on Monday afternoon in San Jose. But the Panthers also avoided a third straight loss.

And earlier this morning, they traded forward Denis Malgin to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Mason Marchment, who recorded one assist in four games with the Maple Leafs this season, and had 18 points (13 goals, 5 assists) in 24 games with the AHL Marlies. I don't know whether or not the newcomer will be in the lineup, but there will certainly be a difference with the chemistry in the first game without Malgin.

Anaheim has points in four straight against Florida, including wins in three of the past four (3-0-1), and I like the Ducks to steal this one.

                      5* DUCKS

1* Auburn -3-1/2 over GeorgiaSEC MAJOR BATTLE TONIGHTBDS Auburn had won 15 straight to start the season until back-back losses on the road to Alabama and Florida brought the unit down to earn, Last time against Missouri, they went down on the road 73-85. Georgia on the season is an inconsistent 12-13. Auburn destroyed Georgia in Alabama 80-62 back on January 11th, Obviously, this is a marked revenge game for the 'Dawgs, however they have lost 4 straight games by an average of 7.5 points-per-game. And they will be at a major disadvantage tonight vs. an Auburn unit that has the edge on the boards. A great indicator here is that the Tigers have out rebounded the last 6 foes by an average of 11.3 per game. In the series the Tigers have covered 10-of-12 and 5 of the last 6. Also, the favorite is 4-1 ATS and the road entry shows 70% ATS L10. For our money, lay the points with Auburn. By the way, we went 2-2 last night with our key SEC game Kentucky cashing. Our overall batch of selections will be released after 5:00 Eastern. Good Luck.

10* FREE NCAAB PICK (Richmond -12)
I'll take my chances here with the Spiders laying it on the Patriots and easily covering as a 12-point home favorite. Richmond is rolling right now. They have won 4 straight with 3 of those 4 coming by 18 or more points. That includes a 77-59 win at home over VCU last time out. There's always teams like this that get hot in February and ride that momentum down the stretch run. I'm willing to take a shot on Richmond, at least here at home against George Mason.
These two teams played once already. That was back on Jan. 18. The Spiders won that matchup 97-87. Richmond won by double-digits on the road, despite the Patriots Javon Green going off. Green scored 39 points on 15 of 22 shooting (5 of 10 from 3). Green scored 32 the very next game, but has a mere 66 over his last 6 games combined.
Also, Richmond's defense is playing at a different level right now than they were in that first meeting. Spiders are locked in on the defensive side of the ball right now. In their last 5 games they are allowing just 60.0 ppg on 39.2% shooting. This is also a Richmond defense that ranks No. 2 in the A-10 in defensive efficiency and No. 3 in effective field goal pct.
I just don't see George Mason being able to score enough to keep this game close. Richmond almost hung 100 on the Patriots and should score a bunch at home in the rematch. Spiders are No. 2 in the A-10 in 2-point % and No. 5 in 3-point %. GM is No. 10 in 2-point defense % and No. 13 in 3-point defense %. Give me Richmond -12.

The Wofford Terriers travel to NC Greensboro to take on the Spartans on Wednesday night. Wofford is 16-11 SU overall this year while NC Greensboro comes in with a 21-6 SU overall record on the season. Wofford is 6-1 ATS overall vs NC Greensboro the past 3 years. Wofford is 23-10 ATS last 33 games after a SU loss. NC Greensboro is 4-12-2 ATS last 18 games after an ATS win. I feel like Wofford can keep this one close and wouldn't be surprised if they got the outright victory here. We'll recommend a small play on Wofford tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky
