The Grizzlies and Kings both made some moves to shake up their rosters on the fringes before the trade deadline, but these 2 teams are still vastly different in makeup and cohesion. The Kings constantly are having strife in the locker room, front office, ownership, and apparently no one in the organization (likely including the injured Bagley) can sleep at night as they realize they passed on Luka. Every big on the team seems to be hobbled at all times, and tonight they plan to enter Jabari Parker into the mix gobbling up shots from Buddy and Bogdan, while Fox attempts his offense running to go through another small...as they will likely go to the Houston-esque small ball lineup again tonight.
The Grizz are on the other end of the spectrum, sure they are ahead of schedule, but they seem eager to achieve playoff status since it is certainly within their grasp...and as it may come down to a battle with Luka for the chance to AVOID an LA team in the first round. Dame will be his biggest challenge down the stretch...as the Blazers have been a perennial playoff team as constructed, but the Pels may also make a playoff push, which will only add fuel to Ja's fire to ensure HE is the standout at least in year 1 from the draft class...and that his abilities and prowess will rival Zion for years...despite being a definite second wheel so far.
These 2 teams split the series so far and Fox has outplayed Ja in both games...but facing a back to back, and on the road with the Lakers on deck, the incentive to 100% make sure they don't leave this west coast B2B losing both games, tonight is the "easy" matchup and they also match up well with the Kings small lineup, both JV and JJJ towering over all comers and dominating down low. Keeping Buddy Hield at bay will be the key and should be the focus of the defense and the Grizzlies should be able to take care of the dysfunctional Kings...and we have to PAY NOTHING for a W!
