#2 Levanto | Veteran was a modest 5th at the level here two-back, when behind a few here, but this post is perfect, and his tactical speed will play big in a race without a lot of pace; can surprise. |
#1 Double the Laugh | Pace player was 3rd and ahead of the pick two-back then didn't fire in the mud last time, but on dry land, with his speedy style, he's going to be tough to catch; clearly the one to beat. |
#8 Let'scalliteven | Stretch runner was 2nd and ahead of the top-2 at the level last time, so he hits hard here, but his running style leaves him at the mercy of the pace, which looks soft; runs out of room. |
Race Summary | The price, post, and race flow all look right on the 2, who seemingly gets all the best of it here, yet will offer plenty of value, so give him a look in all the slots, and especially in the exotics as well, since he's got every chance to turn the tables on his two main rivals. |
#8 The Donner | Speedster popped and then stopped on debut but that early foot her showed will play well here, and off that tightener he should be primed; look out. |
#10 Nuns Island | Tactical sort will be involved throughout and that 2nd routing last time makes him the one to beat here, but at 0-for-12 he also as no upside; second-best. |
#9 Kid Tejano | Lifetime maiden made it 0-for-32 last time, but he's been in some fast races for the level in his last two, so he can get a piece here; underneath, as always. |
Race Summary | You should get fair value on the 8, since that debut might scare a few people off, but there's no one here to fear, and he's got more upside than the rest of this field combined, so play him to win and place, while getting some additional value by using him to kick off the Pk4, as he's only moving forward off that debut, which means he should be right there with this group. |
#9 Swivel | Penn National invader was running well against better, now goes into a potent Rone barn, and meets a field of local stuck in neutral; love his chances here. |
#11 Midnight Run | Price player has been running well behind a few here in his last two, should be close to the pace throughout, yet may be overlooked; can spice up the exotics. |
#12 Tarnished Juice | Dangerous newcomer was just a good 3rd at Laurel and fits here on the slight class drop, but this wide draw did him no favors; tread lightly if landing here. |
Race Summary | That 3-1 ML seems like an overlay on the 9, as he could really blow up here for his new trainer, who has been firing all meet long, so play him aggressively to win and place, while getting some added value by singling him in the Pk4, as he's likely going to be laying down a race the rest of these simply won't be able to handle. |
#4 Chatterman | Let the price dictate the play here. He'd feel like a pretty significant underlay at anything like the 5/2 ML price, but if he floats up from there, he's worth a look in a spot where nearly all of the other want to battle for the front early. |
#1 Lode the Gold | Reliable type tends to take some action, but he has settled for underneath slices in recent tries and might be overbet today. |
#5 Trapalanda | Hit or miss form is the question, but his best stuff keeps him in the mix with what it might take to win here. |
Race Summary | Chatterman can be tough after scoring with similar last time out, but he was 10-1 that day and I have zero interest in taking him back with this group if that 5/2 ML price holds at all. The race flow works for him, but I'm only getting into the conversation at something like 4/1 or better. |
#3 Of Good Report | Will get the call in a spot where many will likely go two deep, I'll go ahead and try to get through this spot just using this guy who is coming out of competitive races at Santa Anita. |
#6 Minsky Moment | No clue what to make of this guy, but the fact that he was let go from the Klaravich/Brown operation suggests he's not likely to do anything better than what we've seen, and he may be dicey to even get back to that. |
#8 Old School Ike | Pace can find the front from the outside, he probably doesn't have to deal with a ton of pressure early on. Not impossible if they let him get loose early. |
Race Summary | Of Good Report and Minsky Moment figure to command most of the wagering action, but the former has far fewer questions to answer here and may offer the better price of the two. |
#5 Big Sky Logan | Took nicely to the local competition when posting an easy win last out, and something similar probably leaves the rest of them running for second today. |
#9 Brozilian | Really solid finishing effort to score last out, and there may be just enough speed to set something up for him late. |
#2 Teryn It Up | Form is really all over the place, but there are more than a few running lines that keep him in the mix if he can bring one of his better efforts. |
Race Summary | Big Sky Logan is going to get bet, and perhaps trying to get Teryn It Up into the gimmicks might be the best way to try to make this race pay with a likely short-priced winner on top. |
#5 DAKOTA SLEEK | Lost action in stretch when making inside bid for the lead. |
#4 ASHLEE’S FINE LADY | Beaten favorite in her last four starts, price goes up. |
#1 UNBEAMLIEVEABLE | Won from on and off the pace this month, draws rail. |
Race Summary | Dakota Sleek beat the favorite to the lead, held firm in the pocket when she was passed on the backstretch and was making an inside bid for the lead when apparent ‘broken equipment’ mishap occurred. Palone sticks on a double call, so play 5-1 and 5-4 exactas. |
#3 LADY NATASHA | Gapped behind heavy favorites in third, good try with Lasix. |
#4 UPTOWN LADY N | Strong rally to win at the Meadowlands in second U.S. start. |
#1 GREY ROOTS | Piled up the checks at Saratoga as a 3-year-old, gets Bartlett for 4yo debut. |
Race Summary | Lady Natasha improved with Lasix but was no match for the 6-to-5 winner or 4-to-5 pocket sitter whose 3-race winning streak ended. She could break through in her 14th start and should offer good value with Uptown Lady N drawing most of the betting attention. |
#3 CRANBERRY BRIE | Right set-up, right price, right barn for first Yonkers go-round. |
#7 NORTH STAR IDEAL | Visually impressive stretch kick, pulling away from the odds-on fave. |
#1 SWEET SUE | Third in 3 of last 4 out of town, Brennan’s been red-hot of late. |
Race Summary | Cranberry Brie had a good sophomore season in Canada, now starts fresh for high-percentage, new barn. She gets plenty of pace to run at and the price is right at 9-2 on the morning line. Play 3-1 and 3-7 exactas. |
#2 Casablanca Hot | Comes off a much-improved effort as he lost by a neck vs. similar company; stays at 5.5 furlongs, which looks like the optimum distance for him. |
#3 My Indian Warrior | Comes out of New Mexico-bred allowance and stakes races and should react favorably to this drop to the claiming ranks. |
#5 Quincy Express | Rallied wins in two of his last three and is much improved as a 4-year-old; has enough speed to stay in the hunt. |
Race Summary | Casablanca Hot just missed in his latest, has good speed and can grind it out. |
#2 Blue Lighting Sky | Responded to a return to five furlongs with a 1.5-length score over N2L company. Broke her maiden going 5.5 furlongs but no longer wants to run that distance. Eikleberry is back in the saddle, which is usually a plus here. |
#8 Cees Smoken | Has the speed to stay within a length or two and could have something left for the finish; in good form over her last four for Evans. |
#7 Sheza Dandy R F | Doesn't finish with a flourish but can pick up pieces of those defeated by early efforts. |
Race Summary | Blue Lighting Sky has the speed to battle it out and just might take the heart out of others with designs on the lead. |
#3 Buddy P. | Has turned the corner to decent form with the rider change back to Reyes. Has developed an adjustable style and can rise to the occasion vs. these. |
#5 Ol' Drunk Daddy | Solid efforts in last out and has looked like a winner in each; needs to put on the finishing touches. |
#8 Quad | Will be hard-sent from an outside position and could get some courage when he gets to the lead; has some good California races on his form. |
Race Summary | Buddy P. can stay within range and his good-finishing rider will guide this one a group that is suspect going this 6.5-furlong distance. |
