I really like the value here with Milwaukee on the -1.5 run line in Monday's series opener against the Pirates. This is a big game for the Brewers, who desperately need a win after losing 2 of 3 at Chicago to kickstart the season.
Milwaukee's offense has been quiet for the most part, but should be able to get going against Pirates' starter Steven Brault. Last year Brault had an ugly 5.16 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 25 appearance (19 starts).
Adrian Houser will take the mound for the Brewers and he's coming off a strong first full season at the big league level. Houser posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 35 appearances (18 starts). I look for a strong showing here from Houser against a pretty soft Pittsburgh offense. Pirates hit just .196 with a .235 OBP in their opening series against the Cardinals. Give me the Brewers -1.5 (+110)!
