The Washington Nationals have not played since July 30 as their weekend series against the Miami Marlins was postponed due to coronavirus concerns in the Miami camp.
The New York Mets picked up their fourth win of the season when they defeated Atlanta 7-2 on Monday. They've lost two of the previous three when coming off a win, and I think they'll come up short in this one against a rested Washington team.
Tonight the Nats hand the ball to Patrick Corbin (0-0, 1.42 ERA). The left-hander fanned eight through 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Yankees in his season opener.
Corbin will be opposed by Steven Matz (0-1, 3.18 ERA). The Mets have lost both of the left-hander's starts so far this season and he has served up three home runs over 11 1/3 innings of work. Matz is 1-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 12 starts against the Nationals and I think they'll get the better of him again.

This racer ran off the board at Mountaineer Park last time out on a sloppy track. She should improve right here in this race under better track conditions. This entrant brings in a lot of money per start. I believe she can add to the lifetime total in this race. CLASSIC ARCH - Using this jock/trainer combination is a good move. Mare is a few starts into a come back here. Should give a top effort today.

WHISKEYDRUNKAGAIN - Has performed admirably as of late in route races, posting a nifty 85 avg speed figure. He looks strong in this spot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the midpoint. A J SAMURAI - With a nice class rating average of 89, has one of the strongest class advantages in this field. Ought to be given a shot - I like the numbers from the last race.

WHATELSE IGOT TODO - I expect this beautiful animal to astonish some people this time. RAHFEES MAN - This gelding is in good physical condition. Ran first on July 8th. I like to play horses that faced open company in their last race and drop into state bred races. This gelding fits the bill. I think this gelding is ready to run a good one. He's had enough outings since the layoff and should be fit. TWO STEPPIN' STAR - The return on investment when Nieves and Smith team up is terrific. He must like the track here. Shipped in to win on June 30th and he looks tough once again. You have to be keen on that most recent race speed fig, 82, which is the best latest race fig of this bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 ZENDELPHIAN (ML=9/5),

ZENDELPHIAN - Last performed on July 18th at Louisiana Downs, finishing sixth. Unlikely to move up off of that performance in today's event. When scrutinizing today's class rating, he will have to register a much better speed rating than last time around the track to vie in this dirt sprint.
