My free play is on the Chi White Sox at 7:10 ET. The Detroit Tigers finished a MLB-worst 47-114 in 2019 but after sweeping a three-game series at Pittsburgh over the weekend, the Tigers are currently 8-5. The Tigers open a three-game home series with the White Sox on Monday, who come in 8-8 after dropping two of three to the Indians.The three-game series begins an eight-game homestand in the span of seven days for the Tigers. They step back into interleague play for a makeup doubleheader against St. Louis on Thursday, then have a three-game weekend series against 10-7 Cleveland. The White Sox have lost FOUR of their last five (lost a rain-delayed 5-4 decision in 10 innings to Cleveland Sunday night on ESPN). Dallas Keuchel will make his fourth start for the White Sox (2-1, 2.55 ERA), while the Tigers counter with Michael Fulmer (0-0, 13.50 ERA). Keuchel won the Cy Young award in the AL during the 2015 season (20-8, 2.48 ERA) but over the next three seasons was a modest 35-28 (3.99 ERA) for an outstanding Houston team. He was a free agent in 2019 but couldn't find a taker until Atlanta signed him on June 7, 2019 him to a one year $13 million deal. Was he worth it? You make the call! He went 8-8 with a 3,75 ERA in 19 regular season starts (team was 10-9). Atlanta then lost BOTH of his postseason starts. Keuchel is coming off his best outing of the young season, although he took a hard-luck loss. He gave up just one run on five hits while striking out eight in seven innings against Milwaukee but Chicago wut out 1-0 last Wednesday. Fulmer was the AL rookie-of-the-year in 2016 (11-7, 3.06 ERA) but followed by going just 10-12 (3.83 ERA) in 20187 and 3-12 with a 4.69 ERA in 2018. He missed all of 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Fulmer is being eased back into action and his only appearance this season (a start vs KC on July 27), he allowed four ERs on five hits in 2.2 innings of a 14-6 Kansas City win. on July 27. Fulmer has started eight games against the White Sox in his career, going 2-1 with a 3.17 ERA (Chicago is 4-4). As for Keuchel, he's 4-1 with a 3.61 ERA against Detroit, with hsi teams going 6-1. I've been a critic of Keuchel in the past but will back him and the White Sox in this one. Good luck...LarryComment

The Colorado Rockies are making a statement early on that they are contenders in the NL West. They have opened 11-4 behind some very good pitching as they are holding opponents to just 3.3 runs per game.
