7 Unit Play. Take #717 Over 228.5 Portland at Los Angeles Lakers (9:00p.m., Thursday August 20 TNT) Tonight in the NBA Playoff bubble we will see Game #2 in the Blazers/Lakers series and the No.1 team in the West Lakers need a huge breakout game. Game #1 flew 'Under' the total as the Blazers won 100-93 but tonight I see a big game from the King and the Lakers bench. The Portland Blazers are trending 'Over' games cashing 6 out 7 'Over' bubble games and the Lakers have cashed 3 out 4 'Over' bubble games. The Lakers defense in the bubble has been poor giving up an average 111.8ppg and I see the 3-ball hitting from both teams. Portland is 16-5 O/U following a SU win and the LA Lakers are 7-2 O/U following a SU loss.
7 Unit Play Take #924 San Francisco -115 over LAA Angels (9:45pm est):
(-115 or lower is at Bet MGM and Fanduel)
By my numbers the San Francisco Giants have played the toughest schedule in all of MLB this season as they have played 20 of their first 26 games against teams with winning records. That won't be the case in this one as they face off here against a bad LAA Angels team that's just 8-17 overall. San Francisco will go with starter Kevin Gausman in this one. Gausman has the 4th best K%-BB% in MLB (20 innings pitched minimum). Those numbers become even more eye opening when you look at how undervalued he is right now. Gausman has dealt with lots of bad luck thus far as evident by the fact he's the only member of the top 14 starters in K-BB who's ERA is above 3.72 on the season and he's just 2 of 14 who are even above a 2.50 ERA overall. Gausman is coming off two impressive indicators as well in his last two starts. The average velocity of his fastball two games ago was the highest it's ever been in any of his 158 career starts in his career. Last game we also seen Gausman post a career high in strikeouts as he notched 11 K's against a very good Oakland A's offense.
The LAA Angels will counter here with 22 year-old starter Jose Suarez. The left-handed Suarez makes his season debut in this one. He looked overmatched last year in his rookie season posting an awful 7.11 ERA for the year in 81 innings pitched. The fact that Suarez is starting isn't because he's a solid young pitcher but instead has more to due with the Angels as they come into this game with the 4th worst starting pitching team ERA this season.
