    MLB
HOUSTON ASTROS VS. OAKLAND ATHLETICS PREDICTIONS

    PICKS

    OAK Athletics Win Money Line
    -150

    Under 9.0 Game Totals
    -110

    Money Line Pick
Houston has trouble with the Angels over the weekend, losing three of four. They are a bit limited right now due to injuries to Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman but they still have more than enough offense most nights. Now they can add Josh Reddick to the injures list too. Rookie Christian Javier is leading the team in win with four but has been inconsistent. One of his down starts was against Oakland on the road, where he gave up three home runs. He hasn’t been that bad since but the A’s should be ready for him. Oakland did not have a great weekend either, dropping two of three against San Diego. They are still not hitting the way I though they would and it seems to be either all of nothing most nights. Even though the team has been winning Frankie Montas has struggled. Montas is 1-1 against the Astros this season and his home start against Houston was his best of the season – seven inning of two hit ball. He is not going to have to be as good to get the win in this one.

    Take Oakland.

    Game Totals Pick
I know Javier got lit up in his lone start against Oakland but I am not expecting that here. It was just not his night but with the player development that Houston is known for I am thinking he will be a lot better this time around. For Montas, he has the talent and limited Houston back when they had all of their stars in the lineup. Attacking a weakened lineup I think he should do just fine again. This one is something like 4-2.

    Take the under.

Al Cimaglia: Woodbine Mohawk Park Early Pick 4 Analysis

        September 7, 2020 | By Al Cimaglia
The Monday night card at Woodbine Mohawk Park will have 11 races set to roll. The 0.20 Early Pick 4 begins in Race 4 and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

        Race 4

5-Never Mind N (5/2)-Won last start with a 56.3 last half and was off over a month. It was a perfect trip, but it was also the 2nd start on Lasix so could be even better tonight. Best to respect lightly raced 7-year-old.
6-Angry Eyes (3-1)-Father Patrick mare won 2 in a row and then took the long way around from the 7-hole. Filion takes a seat and he should work a nice trip from here and could be fastest of all down the lane.

        Race 5

3-Rock This Way (3-1)-Hasn't taken a picture since 6/20 and now drops to a soft spot. Slow starter should be able to get into the mix at this level but is only 2-20 this year.
8-The Regulator (10-1)-Gingras takes a seat and he will probably have the pedal pushed down. Should be able to get the top or the pocket behind #1 and shake loose late.
9-Dreamfair BJ (8-1)-Broke slowly from the 7 hole when dropped to this level in last. Went the last half in 53.3 to finish 4th and can be a player with a better trip.

        Race 6

1-Warrawee Windsor (3-1)-McClure takes the lines and this 2-year-old may have found a field to break his maiden. Started very slowly in last and if comes off the gate in good shape and handles the 1 post it could be picture time.
4-Eighteen Wheelin (5-1)-Trotted through the wire in last and has been handled conservatively so far. Filion is back in the bike and he knows well. Versus this crew it might be time to take the wrapper off and try a more aggressive steer.

        Race 7

4-Always Flashing A (3-1)-Was used early into a quick opening quarter and advanced in the stretch in a 151.4 mile. Can be a player if upswing continues.
5-Icy Blue Scooter (5-1)-Drops and regular driver is back between the pipes. There should be an honest pace and JMac can come rolling off cover.
8-Military Secret (6-1)-Started in the 2nd tier and was claimed in last. Fits with these and will look for a big try in 1st start for Team Cullen.

        0.20 Early Pick 4

        5,6/3,8,9/1,4/4,5,8
        Total Bet=$7.20

          Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

          Saratoga - Race #11
#1 Mystery Bank Class riser stretch out and broke his maiden for a white hot Noda barn, and while this is a tougher group, he drew perfectly and meets a field there for the taking; call right back.
#2 Quarterback Dak Ward runner was a good 2nd in his turf bow at Arlington and now ships in for a big purse, which is a confident move for a barn that is having another strong meet; do not ignore.
#7 Hardredcandy Versatile sort was 2nd at Monmouth and is another coming in on the rise for a big pot, and note Cibelli reaches out for Irad, which is a stiff 36% combo form 28 starters; in the mix.
Race Summary You won't get rich on the 1 but there are several ways to go here, so $10 or so would play well in the win and place pool, though you can get some built-in value by using him to kick off the mandatory payout Empire 6, which will have a huge pool, and this seems like a survive and advance type of spot for most.
          Saratoga - Race #12
#3 Lonesome Fugitive Brown runner had some trouble while facing winners last time but drew well, doesn't meet much, and seems primed for the breakthrough; imposing.
#5 Basquait Brown's second makes his turf debut, which is a 24% move for the barn, and the American Pharoah's have been taking to the lawn too; worth a look.
#4 The Great Dansky Longshot tried turf off the N. Lynch claim, which is an unknown, but there's speed, talent, and upside here, so he may get brave; bombers exotics appeal.
Race Summary That 2-1 ML is about right on the 3, but there's no one here that's a danger without improving, so it seems worth of a strong win and place bet, though his real value comes in the mandatory payout Empire 6, and kick off the late Pk5 as well, as you can single, which will allow for more coverage in the deeper surrounding legs, as the pick looks like he has this one over a barrel.
          Saratoga - Race #13
#3 Mutasaabeq Pletcher charge pressed and drew off to a powerful debut win, should be just off the speed here, and gives the impression he's only just getting started; look out.
#5 Reinvestment Risk Brown runner wowed them on debut with a big figure and hits hard here, though the waters get a lot deeper today, and he'll be vastly overbet as well; second-best.
#6 Jackie's Warrior Sharp local G2 winner has an experience edge on his two main rivals, and drew outside them too, but the thinking is he's not quite as talented; may come up wanting.
Race Summary That 5-2 ML on the pick seems might juicy, since his two biggest rivals don't really have an edge on paper and he's only getting started, so play him aggressively to win and place, while getting some additional value by keying him in the mandatory payout Empire 6, as well as the late Pk5/Pk4 as well, since he's going to be the best price of the trio, and therefore a win would knock out a lot of budget tickets that are simply playing the two strong ML choices.

            Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

            Mountaineer - Race #2
#6 Wolfblade Drops into a much easier spot while owning form that fits well here, and she ran quite well locally for more than twice the price back in June.
#1 Gin N Spice The only turf try came with a significantly better group at Delaware, and she's a pretty reliable type who might show up with a good try tonight at a price.
#3 Dave's Texas Lady Owns a 5-for-13 local record and has run many of those races against better company. She tends to give away ground late, though, so she's going to need a bold move into the lane to try to make and hold the front.
Race Summary Wolfblade gets some class relief over a course on which she has been solid with better, and she'd be plenty playable at something like the 3/1 ML price.
            Mountaineer - Race #3
#7 Selling Out Moves from starter company into this $10k spot, and he has really good positional pace to find a good spot in the early going here. Thinking he'd be attractive at anything like the 6/1 ML price.
#4 Heart in Hand Three-race winning streak was stopped last out when nowhere to be found at 2/5 on the board, but he's tough to discount with this kind.
#8 Judah Dropper can hit hard here after finishing second with allowance company last time out, and he has the early foot to find a good spot out of the gate.
Race Summary Selling Out can get the right kind of trip with these at the right kind of price -- I'll try to get him in the mix with Heart in Hand and/or Judah.
            Mountaineer - Race #1
#6 Allaboutbiz Forward player has a little bit of tactical ability that might allow him to relax just a touch off the early splits and try to finish best of these.
#3 Eagle Keeper Has failed to show any late interest through four starts, and I wouldn't be too excited to line up to play this guy with plenty of questions to answer.
#1 Grazed My Biscuits Not sure he's in for an easy go of things from the fence, but he has a little bit of pace in a soft race while trying the turf for the first time.
Race Summary Allaboutbiz could be the one to find that perfect, press and pounce kind of trip, and he handled the turf just fine when trying it for the first time last out.

              Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

              Gulfstream Park - Race #3
#1 Village Queen Rallied mildly going six furlongs in her first one and can be effective in stretching out; can get an ideal trip.
#2 Highland Moon Pressed the pace and faded to fourth in her debut and can probably get brave on the front end going longer.
#4 Happy Constitution Was second going seven furlongs and that sets him up for this longer run; pressed the pace last time but will probably get a more relaxed trip from just off the pace.
Race Summary Village Queen is bred to get better the farther she runs and comes in off a decent run in her debut; takes the shortest way home and has a good chance to take charge when called upon.
              Gulfstream Park - Race #4
#1 Bienville Street Had a tough trip and still finished fourth against many of these last time out and can be dangerous with an unimpeded run. Could score at a price.
#10 Kelsey's Cross Just missed after altering setting and forcing the pace; it was an uncharacteristic move in trying for the early lead and the mostly new style could work out for her.
#2 Great Sister Diane Was second and third in her last two stakes efforts and is a consistent closer; can benefit from a fast pace.
Race Summary Bienville Street has been unlucky, and that sometimes goes along with her off-the-pace style. She will get a good pace in front of her and can be a factor if she can avoid traffic.
              Gulfstream Park - Race #8
#1 Louder Than Bombs Has been off since March, when he was in two of the fastest mile turf races in recent memory (1:32 2-5 and 1:32 4-5) and finished third in one of those, the G3 Canadian Turf. Has kept some tough company and can be a strong factor in his return.
#2 Sailing Solo Outstanding front-runner comes off an easy score in the Mecke and could back up the pace. Likely to be difficult to catch.
#11 Galleon Mast Usually runs very well over this course and will have to find a place to tuck in from the No. 11 post; classy runner.
Race Summary Louder Than Bombs has fired against top-notch rivals and should be difficult to beat in his first off the shelf.

                        MIAMI MARLINS VS. ATLANTA BRAVES
The fans at Truist Park will be treated to a game between the Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves when they take their seats on Monday.

Jose Urena will be the starting pitcher for the Marlins on this day. Right hander Urena is 0-0 this season with a 0.00 ERA.

Starting this game for the Braves will be Ian Anderson. The right hander has a 2.25 ERA to go along with a 2-0 record this season.

Oddsmakers opened the Braves as -190-moneyline favorites versus the Marlins, while the game's total opened at 9.
