The Pirates are worth a shot here as a big dog against the Chicago Cubs. Steven Brault has a 2.78 ERA in his nine starts this season and a 1.59 ERA in his five home starts. He is coming off a complete game against the Cardinals in a 5-1 victory as a +150 dog. He gave up just one earned run and four base runners in nine innings against the Cardinals. Brault fired three scoreless innings against the Cubs back on August 2nd in his last start against them. Jose Quintana will be making his first start of 2020 for the Cubs. Quintana is 0-1 with a 12.28 ERA in his last two starts against the Pirates while allowing 10 earned runs in 7 1/3 innings. Give me the Pirates.

I got no problem here laying it with Tampa Bay on the road against the Mets. Rays are rolling right now. They 5-1 over their last 6 and 8-3 in their last 11. New York is just 3-6 in their last 9 and have lost 3 of their last 4 (scored 2 or fewer in all 3 losses).
Tampa Bay will send out Blake Snell, who is 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA and 1.150 WHIP in 10 starts. Rays have won 7 of those 10 starts and are 4-1 in his 5 home starts. Snell also comes in in great form with a 2.87 ERA in his last 3 starts.

The Baltimore Orioles have been a profitable bet this season as they’ve gained 6.5 units for backers. They have been better than expected, while the Boston Red Sox have completely tanked at 20-34 (-10.3 units).
I’ll gladly back the Orioles at basically even money here with what I’ve seen from starter Keegan Akin. He is 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in four starts this season with 24 K’s in 15 1/3 innings. And those four starts have come against the Yankees (twice), Braves and Blue Jays.
Nick Pivetta will be making his first start of the season for the Red Sox. He is 19-30 with a 5.50 ERA and 1.433 WHIP in four seasons in the big leagues. The Red Sox have been so desperate to find starting pitching this season that they are giving him a chance today.
Boston is 0-11 in home games off three or more consecutive home games this season. Baltimore is 6-1 off a win by two runs or less this season. The Orioles are 7-1 in road games vs. a team with a losing record this season. Bet the Orioles Tuesday.

Austin Gomber sounds like a character from Mayberry on the old Andy Griffith Show. But Gomber is no Gomer. He's pitched well with a 2.37 ERA. The lefthanded Gomber has been stingy against the Royals with 6 2/3 career scoreless innings versus Kansas City.
This is a cheap price to get Gomber and the Cardinals. St. Louis is fighting for a playoff spot. Kansas City is evaluating talent playing for next year. The Royals rank 27th in runs scored and 26th in on base percentage. They have scored 16 runs in their last seven games, an average of 2.2 runs per game during this span. Kansas City also has lost 39 of the past 58 times they've faced a lefty starter at home. The Cardinals draw righty Brady Singer, who has a 3-4 record and 4.14 ERA. Those numbers are almost ace like coming from someone on the Royals. Singer is merely mediocre at best. He's pitched much worse at home with a 6.75 ERA. St. Louis is 6-1 the past seven times going against a righty starter.
