PICO D'ORO is my choice. Is a solid choice - given the 78 speed fig from his most recent race. Has a strong shot for this race if you like back class. Is worth thinking about and may be a bet - strong Speed Figures (78 average) at today's distance and surface recently. ULTIMATE BADGER - Is tough not to look at based on Speed Figures which have been decent - 77 avg - of late. Should be given consideration - I like the figs from the last contest. TATE - Looks respectable to be close to the front end at the first call.

FORTY NINE MODEL - Last time around the track on the sod, this animal was strong. Anything close in this race, and this one should win. Has the look of an overlay right here at odds of 4/1. Finished fifth in last race at Remington Park but was close at the finish. Ran last race out against a tougher field at Remington Park. The move down in class ranks should suit her well. You have to really like that most recent race speed rating, 73, which is the highest last race speed fig of this bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 STALEMATE (ML=5/2), #4 HEIGHTEN (ML=5/1), #1 BROOKLYN BABY (ML=6/1),

STALEMATE - Improbable for this horse to make an impact with no recent good showings in a sprint event. Hard to recommend any horse with deteriorating speed figures of 75/66/62. This pony ran a most unsatisfactory speed fig last time around the track. She shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely suffer defeat in today's race running that fig. HEIGHTEN - Hard to take this entrant at the odds after the result (eighth) in the last race. Not probable that the fig she notched on Sep 10th will be good enough in this race. BROOKLYN BABY - Tough for anyone who saw this horse in her last affair to bet on her today.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - FORTY NINE MODEL - My historical data says you can ignore the last race at Remington Park. Contested on the soft turf, this filly obviously didn't take to the going.
