Oakland dropped the opener of this series 10-5 on Monday after blowing an early 3-0 lead. The Astros rallied with two outs in the sixth against the Oakland vaunted bullpen to take control as the Astros resurgence erupted behind two homers from Carlos Correa, one from Alex Bregman, four hits from George Springer and a go-ahead two-run single by Jose Altuve in the sixth inning. This is a poor hitting team that had one breakout game that will not continue. Houston posted a .205/.259/.326 line and averaged 2.5 rpg against Oakland in the regular season. The A's were 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position which loomed large as the young Houston bullpen dealt five scoreless innings. Sean Manaea gets the ball for Oakland and he is riding a seven-game streak of allowing three runs or less. He dominated the Astros in his one start against them three weeks ago, allowing one run on two hits in seven innings. Framber Valdez is coming off a pair of solid outings but his command has been inconsistent all season.
