ALTMAN - This thoroughbred coming off a good contest in the last thirty days is a strong challenger in my humble opinion. Trainer O'Connell moves this animal to a lower class rank to face a lower class field. Look for a good effort given this drop. The latest speed rating of 48 is the best last race speed rating in the field. CONGRATS AGAIN - The jockey and trainer combination have a lucrative return on investment when they partner up. Yates drops him down to this class. You don't need too much more handicapping data to think this horse has a shot at this level. The recent bullet 35.8 work should put this gelding on track for today's contest.

I think MYSTICAL IMAGE is a very good choice especially at such a decent 12/1. Has been running quite well lately and will probably be up on the front end early on. Garcia has this gelding racing well and is a formidable selection based on the solid Equibase speed figs put up in sprint races recently. Must be given a shot given the class of races run recently. GRINDER SPARKSAGLO - Gutierrez will probably be able to get this gelding to break out early in this race. With a formidable 89 speed figure last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this contest. WINE AT NINE - Could provide positive gains based on very strong recent speed figures with an average of 90. Has raced solidly in dirt sprint races.

Al Cimaglia: Hoosier Park Pick 4 Analysis

Hoosier Park has a 14-race card set to go this evening and the 0.50 Pick 4 starts in Race 3. That sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 3

3-Ramblin Art (6-1)-Back from DTN and is in with the same class as on 10/17 when finished 2nd. Dunn can be aggressive from this spot and may get the top and not look back.
4-Desire's Captain (3-1)-Beat straight $15K claimers in last with a 54.3 back half. Can race off cover or on the lead and best to respect in this spot.
10-Bay Rum (9/2)-Usually a slow starter so is pace dependent and was claimed out of the $15k claimers in last. Tetrick should be able to get in striking range at the top of the lane and the pace could be hot.

Race 4

2-Fox Valley Hustler (7/2)-Dunn gets the drive and will probably be bet hard but has won 8 of 24 at HoP. Three-year-old could get on the engine or get a close-up seat. Either way should be there at the wire.
4-Venom (3-1)-Had been dancing and doing well versus $30k-$40k claimers this summer. Form has slipped some, but this could be a spot to wake up. Wrenn takes a seat and that shouldn't hurt plus has taken 8 pictures in 18 tries at HoP.
5-Brysen (5-1)-Will take a swing and look for some value. Racing well but has had trouble sealing the deal here. 1-19 record at HoP is cause for concern but has tossed hints in recent efforts. Wilfong knows well and comes right back in 6 days.
6-Rockette Baby (2-1)-Program chalk looks the part but has not been able to win back-to-back after the last 3 victories. Does come off a sharp effort but missed a start and that has been happening plus will likely be bet hard.

Race 5

3-Steppin Hurry (5-1)-Steps-up but should fit well with this group and can get an advantageous trip from this post. With a live cover flow and a good steer this gelding could win at a square price.
7-Eeyore (6-1)-Steps-up after a sharp win with a 55.2 back half on 10/22. Should off a fair price in a field that isn't very deep and chalk is starting in the 2nd tier.
10-American Trademark (2-1)-Beaten even money chalk from the rail at this class in last should be in the hunt if Tetrick can work a trip. He may look to make an early move to the top. Willing to respect connections and not dismiss. But will use others being a short price from the 2nd tier.

Race 6

1-Ragin's Flight (3-1)-Claimed for $15k on 9/18 and drops again in search of a win. Should be forwardly placed versus $8,000 claimers and this is a spot to shine if all systems are "go".
9-The Great I Am (6-1)-Was claimed for $10k in August and is winless since. Has faced $8k claimers in last two but has been stuck outside. Last effort was the best in a while and was also from the 9 hole. Widger steers and if pace is honest could fly by late.

Thursday CFB Free play. My selection is on Georgia Southern moneyline over South Alabama at 7:30 pm et on Thursday.
We'll take a bit of a different route and back Georgia Southern on the moneyline in Thursday's Sun Belt showdown against South Alabama. The latter is coming off back-to-back wins, but both of those came at home, and they came at the expense of quite simply two of the weakest teams not only in the conference, but in the nation in Texas State and Louisiana Monroe. Those two squads have managed just one victory between them this season. Meanwhile, Georgia Southern is coming off a tough road loss against a true upstart in Coastal Carolina - a team that has enjoyed a terrific start to the season. Look for the Eagles to right the ship in this key Sun Belt matchup - I'm far more comfortable backing them on the moneyline rather than minus north of a field goal, however. Take Georgia Southern moneyline (8*).

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR THURSDAY, 10/29:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. Looking ahead to the card on Thursday, one of the last plays on my cut list is Over the Total in the game between the Colorado State and Fresno State. Fresno State (0-1) opened their season last week with a 34-19 upset loss at home to Hawai’i despite being a 2.5-point favorite. The Bulldogs have then played 13 of their last 16 games Over the Total after a double-digit loss at home. Fresno State has also played 4 of their last 5 games at home Over the Total despite that game with the Rainbow Warriors finishing below the 65 point total. Colorado State (0-0) makes their season debut in this game. The Rams have played 6 of their last 7 road games Over the Total when playing a team with a losing record at home. And in their last 4 trips to Fresno State, the game finished Over the Total all 4 times. Take the Over. Best of luck — Frank.
