The Broncos are far and wide the better team in this match-up. UC Davis is a middle of the road team at best in a weaker Big West. Santa Clara is a solid, above average team in a much deeper and stronger WCC. Santa Clara brings back a bunch of talent from group that won 20 games and put its conference on notice they aren't a walkover by any means. They already have won win this week under its belt, and here is another good win. Broncos minus the number.

U of the Pacific had a breakout season for its basketball program last year. Damon Stoudamire led his Tigers to 23 wins and a team in the now to be aware of in the WCC. Pacific got itself off on the right start with a win to begin the season. I expect an even stronger performace here against a Fresno State team that is predicted to be in the bottom half of what will be a down year for the Mountain West. Conversely, even though Gonzaga is yet again the diamond from the West Coast Conference, this often overlooked league will have a handful of underrated teams, such as this Pacific squad, Santa Clara, Pepperdine and others who definitely get overlooked because of the Zags' dominance. Pacific was one of the deepest teams in the country last year. And this season, they add three ready-now newcomers who become instant contributors in to this core. Pacific alredy carried over its success from last spring and the confidence to win games like this. Right at this early point in the schedule, Fresno is far from a known commodity, and so we're behind the better and more proven group. Pacfiic makes it two-for-two against fellow west coast teams. Tigers by 12, 72-60.
