3-Unit Play. Take #864 Arizona State (-2.5) over San Diego State (10 p.m.)

I like this San Diego State team. They have picked up where they left off last season, winning their first four games of the year. However, they are stepping up in class here and SDSU is simply not as good as they were last year. They lost three starters, including their two best guys in Malachi Flynn and Yanni Wetzell. I think that Arizona State is a little better than they've played. They are getting back No. 3 scorer, Alonzo Verge, and that gives them three guys scoring at least 15 points per game. They will likely be without leading rebounder Marcus Bagley. But size isn't a problem for the Sun Devils, who have four other forward standing 6-9 that can pick up the slack. ASU has the best player on the floor, Remy Martin, and a very talented freshman in Josh Christopher. As long as they defend they should be able to stay ahead of this number and close out this game in the second half. This was going to be a bigger play. But I'm reading the line movement so I backed it down a bit. That said, I'm still not giving up my side as I think that Arizona State is obviously the better team.

    1-Unit Play. Take #854 Oregon State (-14.5) over Portland (8 p.m.)

After back-to-back losses the Beavers need something positive to happen. Their two losses were by a total of just seven points and they need to get a win here. Portland is pretty terrible. They are 3-1 on the season but they have not played a team rated higher than No. 295. And that team, Seattle, beat the Pilots by 12 points at Portland. Oregon State is awful. But they still have a higher level of talent than Terry Porter's squad. I'll call for a rare blowout from the Beavers.

    1-Unit Play. Take #7604 East Carolina (-13.5) over North Florida (5 p.m.)

I'm going to keep chopping with East Carolina. I think that this is one of the more improved teams in the country. They were finally able to retain some of their talent and keep it from transferring. The results have been solid. They are off to a 4-0 start and three of their wins have been against teams better than North Florida. UNF has gotten rolled by double digits in all but one of their games, a home loss on Monday to in-state foe Florida Atlantic. These look like two teams going in opposite directions.

1-Unit Play. 5-POINT TEASER: Take #862 South Dakota State (-3.5) over North Dakota State (9 p.m.) AND Take #7604 East Carolina (-8.5) over North Florida (5 p.m.)

6-Unit Play. #858 Take Northern Arizona (+5.5) over UC Riverside (8 p.m., Thursday, December 10)

By all accounts last season's 16-14 record was a major overachievement for NAU. Again this year the Lumberjacks will play beyond their Big Sky expectations. Tonight they are catching points, but I am calling for Northern Arizona to win this game outright. NAU has a great starting backcourt with Cameron Shelton and Luke Avdalovic, both great three-point shooters. This is a team that employs a four-guard offense. Transfers Malcolm Porter from Portland and Jay Green from UNLV have the opportunity to make this team a dangerous offense. This group is capable of hitting 10+ three's on most nights with their style of play. A couple factors specifically influence this rating. First off, they were hammered in their opener at Arizona where they shot 18-59 from the field and 5-20 from three. They'll produce way better in this one. Secondly, this game was suppose to follow by traveling to No. 1 Gonzaga, now cancelled because of COVID. That would have just been an unnecessary distraction. Now tonight's match-up at home is exactly what is needs to be - a confidence builder before NAU opens with two home league games vs. Eastern Washington. All this makes for a live underdog against a Highlanders team who scored just 64 ppg out of the Big West last season. They failed to score more than 60 in two of its first three games. Worst case, UCR grinds out a close game in the high 60s or low 70s and we cover with the points. Best case is these Lumberjacks shoot the ball well on their home floor and we win this game outright. The play is Big Sky over the Best West in this one. 74-70 to NAU.

        THURSDAY LIGA MX SOCCER

4 Unit Play. Take Under 2.5 +105 Club Leon at UNAM Pumas (10:00p.m., Thursday, December 10) (Graded after regulation time - 90min - plus injury time)
Tonight starts the Apertura Final between Pumas and top team in the league Club Leon. Pumas is playing with house money and I see this match being tight from the start and getting plus money on the 'Under' seems like a steal. Pumas have lost just one of their last ten but are unbeaten in all of their home matches in the league but Leon is outstanding on the road and I see this game staying under the 2.5 mark

          4-Unit Play - #853-854 Portland/Oregon State GAME TOTAL OVER 140.5 -110 (Thursday, December* 10, 2020 at 8:00 PM)

Take Portland/Oregon State GAME TOTAL OVER as my top college basketball pick for Thursday night. This pick falls into one my top college basketball systems and Portland has averaged 78.7 points per game this season while shooting 46.4% as a team. The Beavers have averaged 86 points per game at home this season and 78.2 points per game overall while shooting 49.7% as a team at home. The Beavers shot just 35.7% in their last game against Wyoming and still put up 73 points in that game and that shooting percentage will definitely increase against this Portland team who just allowed Portland State to put up 73 points against them. The Beavers have shot 39.7% as a team from beyond the arc this season and Portland's opponents have shot 45.4% against them overall the season averaging 74.7 points per game against them. The over/under is 4-1 in the Beavers last 5 games when favored at home and the over/under is also 11-5 in the Beavers last 16 games after a loss. So play the OVER here Thursday as we move to 7-2 the last 10 days in college basketball. Make sure you also get on my 7-Unit NFL Play that goes Thursday night as my red hot 70% football run the last 2 weeks continues.
