And now this total has been set at only 223 points. Detroit will be forced to play at a faster tempo here as the Hawks control it. And this is a bad Detroit defense that gave up 111 points to Minnesota in their opener and then lost 119-128 to Cleveland for 247 combined points last time out. I've really been impressed with what I've seen out of Atlanta to start the season. The Hawks opened up with a 124-104 blowout win on the road at Chicago (led 83-59 at half before calling off the dogs). They then went on the road and beat a good Memphis team 122-112.
The hot start by Atlanta is no surprise, as they really had a good offseason in terms of the talent they added to the core that was already in place. They got the ability to light teams up on the offensive side and are much better defensively.
Detroit is a bottom-feeder this year. They are one of the least talented teams in the league and have already lost two other bottom feeders in the Timberwolves and Cavs. Scoring points will be a challenge for this team all season and for this game they got to play without two of their top scores in Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose, who are both out for rest. Bet Atlanta -10!

The Brooklyn Nets opened the season with two dominant wins. They won 125-99 over Golden State and 123-95 at Boston. Then they suffered a shocking 104-106 loss as an 11.5-point favorite at Charlotte last night. And now we get them at a discount as only 5-point favorites over Memphis in a bounce back spot. The Grizzlies are missing too many key players due to injuries early in the season. That's a big reason they are 0-2 with blowout losses to the Spurs 119-131 and Hawks 112-122. And now this is a big step up in class here against the Nets tonight. The Grizzlies are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss. Give me the Nets.

The UNDER (160) is worth a look in Monday's Big Ten college basketball action between Minnesota and Michigan State. These have been two of the worst defensive teams early on in Big Ten play, but the total here is just way too high. You have to think we get a max effort from Michigan State to avoid an uncharacteristic 0-3 start in Big Ten play. You also have to expect Minnesota to show up at home against one of the premiere programs in the conference. There's going to be plenty of offense, I just don't see this being as big a shootout as the books are calling for. Play UNDER 160!

I'll take the points here with Fresno State on the road in what will be the conference opener for both teams. I believe there is value with the Bulldogs because of the fact that while they are 2-0 to start the new season, their two wins have come against non Div-I teams.
Not only that, the Bulldogs only brought back 1 starter from a team that went just 11-19 overall and 7-11 in MWC play last year.
However, there is reason to be optimistic with Fresno State this year. The one starter back is arguably their best player from last year in 6-10 sophomore Orlando Robinson, who averaged 12.2 ppg and 6.6 rpg as a freshman.
They also brought in 4 transfers, 3 of which are starting and the other is playing decent minutes off the bench. The best of those being Cal Poly guard Junior Ballard.
The other big thing here is Colorado State hasn't exactly shown me anything to make me believe they should be laying close to double-digits.
They are 3-1, but their best win so far is against No. 122 ranked Santa Clara (the other two were cupcakes). In their lone loss, they scored just 33 points (no player reached double-figures) in a 20-point loss to St. Mary's. Give me the Bulldogs +9!
