ANALYSIS: The Packers are always tough at home but are even tougher in January, and the weather plays right into their hands. They have perhaps their best team in years. The Rams' only chance in this game is if they can hold Green Bay to 14 points or fewer. L.A. has a fantastic defense and will create some problems for Aaron Rodgers. However, it's hard to trust Rams QB Jared Goff, and I think he is facing a very underrated Packers defense. The Rams are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings, and the favorite has covered nine of the last 10 meetings. Green Bay is the play.

Defensively the Nets will have to get better, but they are facing a struggling Magic team that has dropped four straight, all by double digits, and were just hammered last night in Boston. The Magic are just 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games on the second half of a back-to-back. Brooklyn is the play.

The Predators continue to play terrific defensively and had 20 blocked shots in their opener. Nashville money line is the play.

ANALYSIS: The Red Wings looked much like the team they were last year and have to be on top of the fade list early this NHL season. The Hurricanes outshot the Wings, 43-14, in a 3-0 opening night shutout, and I expect the same results Saturday. The Hurricanes are a more physical team and don't hurt themselves. The Wings hurt themselves in the opener with some bad penalties late and spoiled a solid night for goaltender Thomas Greiss. The road team has won seven of the last eight meetings. Carolina puck line is the play.

The Canes were just hammered by Boston College and now face a much tougher opponent. The Cardinals play terrific defense and should limit the Canes offense. Louisville is 13-4 against Miami all time. This line looks low and raises my eyebrows, but I'm confident the Cardinals win a hard fought, low-scoring game.

Meanwhile the Bulldogs average just 63.0 points per game, which ranks 314th in the nation, and allow teams to shoot 46.7 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent from beyond the arc. This is going to be a long day for Butler.
