This is a great time to 'sell high' on the UCLA Bruins. They are 7-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time since the 1993-94 season. You are definitely paying a premium to back the Bruins at this point. Asking them to beat Cal by double-digits to cover this spread on the road is asking too much.
UCLA needed to erase a 15-point deficit in the second half at home against Washington (2-11) to come out on top 81-76 on Saturday. And now they face a motivated Cal team that will be looking for revenge following a 56-76 road loss at UCLA on December 6th in their first meeting this season. They would love to hand the Bruins their first conference defeat.
The Bears are identical 9-point home dogs in the rematch, so the books haven't adjusted at all for home-court advantage. This is a Cal team that has won two of its last three contests and is coming off an impressive 72-63 upset win at Utah as 11.5-point dogs.
UCLA is 2-1 SU in true road games this season with both wins coming by 6 points or less. The Golden Bears are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 home games. California is 6-1 ATS in its last seven home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Bruins are 12-30-1 ATS in their last 43 games as road favorites. Bet California Thursday.

I won with the Canucks last night. That was a wild 6-5 affair. With the same teams facing each other for the second time in two nights, I'm expecting an entirely different type of game this evening. Montreal's most recent visit here, before last night, resulted in a 3-1 final. The year before that was a 3-2 game here. Even factoring in last night's result, the 'under' remains 6-3-1 the last 10 meetings here. Note that the lone 'push' was a game which landed on five. So, it would have also stayed below tonight's far more generous total. Consider the Under 6.5.

The key here is Golden State is going to find it hard to get up for this game playing on no rest after really laying it all on the line in their last 2. The Knicks on the other hand are fresh playing on 2 days of rest. This has upset written all over it. Bet New York +4.5!

The Pelicans and Jazz just played on Tuesday with Utah winning 118-102 for 220 combined points. I think the rematch will be much lower scoring due to the fact that both teams are now familiar with one another. And I don't envision the Jazz shooting as well (50.6%) as they did in the first meeting. Both of these teams prefer to slow it down. The Pelicans rank 26th in pace while the Jazz rank 24th. The UNDER is 5-1 in Jazz last six games as a favorite. Give me the UNDER.

Used the prior meeting as a play for our clients, and see no reason to change our mind here. New Orleans does one thing very well. Pound the offensive boards and keep opponents off their offensive glass. The problem is the Jazz do much of the same. The main difference is Utah is an excellent team shooting from distance, and they are doing more and more of that every game. New Orleans on the other hand allows more three pointers than anyone else in the league. Big matchup advantage here once again for the Jazz.

NHL | Avalanche vs Kings

The Kings very well could be 3-0. Instead they have begun the season 0-3 for their worst start in four years. One of their losses occurred against the Wild when Minnesota scored with one second left to force overtime after the Kings had hit the post on an empty net shot. I had the Kings in that game at a plus price. It's my toughest beat of the season. Colorado dealt LA it's latest defeat, 3-2, two days ago. Taken aback by the Avalanche's speed after not playing for 10 months and then opening with two games against the Wild, the Kings fell behind Colorado, 3-0. LA rallied in the third period for two goals, but fell a goal short. The Kings had blown a pair of 3-1 leads against the Wild. This all has to be very demoralizing for the Kings. They are outclassed by the Avalanche, who won't be letting down this time around. Colorado is too fast for Los Angeles. The Kings can't compensate by illegal means because they already have been exposed being whistled for 18 penalties. They have the highest average of minor penalties in the league at 5.33. The Avalanche are the wrong team to give the man advantage to. Their deadly power play unit spearheaded by superstar Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog has produced eight power play goals in 17 tries. The oddsmaker recognizes all this. That's why the Avalanche are installed as huge road chalk. So I'm recommending laying 1 1/2 goals on the puck line. Even if the Kings manage to hang around - which I doubt - their luck has been so bad they probably would give up an empty net goal.

The Over is worth a flyer. These two teams met two days ago in a 3-2 game and this one should be much more open. Look for the Avalanche to put more pressure on early and for the Kings to have plenty of counter attack chances.
