Game: (24901) Dustin Poirier at (24902) Conor McGregor

          Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line
          Play Rating: 5%
Play: Conor McGregor to win via KO -160

          5% BEST BET PLAY

In the Main Event of UFC 257, Conor McGregor squares up against Dustin Poirier for the 2nd time…

Everyone is familiar with Conor and his past bouts holding 2 UFC titles simultaneously. After losing to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match, he lost his return to the cage against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Most recently he ran through Donald Cerrone via 1st round KO looking like the old hungry Conor. On the other side is Dustin Poirier who won 4 straight bouts earning him a title shot against Khabib. In that fight Khabib …well “Khabib'ed” Dustin dominating all phases of the fight controlling him on the ground sinking in a rear-naked choke in round 3. Most recently Dustin faced Dan Hooker in a VERY close fight where Dustin edged out the decision win.

Their first fight was in 2014 where the rise of McGregor truly begin. Hype was building and Conor was calling his shots. He predicted a 1st round KO win and that's exactly what happened. Dropping Dustin early in round 1 getting the knockout victory. With the current line on McGregor nearing -300 range, the value is all gone and method of victory is a strong play. Style wise this is the perfect match up for Conor as Dustin's predominatly a boxer. With no worry of takedowns Conor can completely control the action. If you look back at his career all those KO wins came from facing guys who prefer to strike. This is the same situation and a focused Conor should have full advantage on the feet. Dustin is no slouch, but the match up heavily favors McGregor. At the current line it presents a lot of value on a fighter that doesn't submit anyone and normally doesn't go the distance. In a 5 round fight it offers plenty of opportunity for Conor to get the job done in impressive fashion.

5% Play: Conor McGregor to win via KO (-160)

Game: (24929) Matt Frevola at (24930) Ottman Azaitar

          Play: Ottman Azaitar -152

In a main card bout on UFC 257, rising talent Ottman Azaitar faces Matt Fervola..

This breakdown I'm getting right to the point.

I'm very high on the undefeated prospect Ottman Azaitar who's looked spectacular since entering the UFC. This 13-0 fighter has an insanely high killer instinct with 12 of his 13 wins coming by way of finish. (10 knockouts with 2 submission victories) Currently he's 2-0 in the UFC with both coming by way of 1st round knockouts. Very impressive start to the UFC and I believe this is just the beginning from him. This is another fighter I've had my eye before his UFC debut and been seeking a spot to bet him. He has a complete well rounded skill set mixed with grappling and strong technical striking. While Matt Frevola in my opinion hasn't looked that impressive. After losing via KO to Marco Polo Reyes he then fought to a draw against Land Vannata. Since then he won back to back bouts against Jalin Turner and Luis Pena. The brawling forward pressure style of Frevola will present the perfect style for Azaltar to seek power counter shots. Many times Matt looks sloppy on the feet in attempts to make it dirty, but anywhere this fight goes I believe Azaitar has the advantage. At the current price I'm very comfortable as I believe this should be over -200 line.

          Play: Ottman Azaitar -(152)

Game: (24953) Michael Chandler at (24954) Dan Hooker

          Play: Dan Hooker -125

In the Co-Main Event of UFC 257, Dan Hooker battles the UFC debut of Michael Chandler…

This line jumped out at me when running down matches for this event. Feels like total disrespect towards how the high level Dan Hooker has become. Chandler is coming off back to back wins in Bellator, but those 2 most recent wins aren't impressive enough for this close to pick'em line. After getting KO'ed in round 1 by Patricio Freire, whom I believe would get smoked by UFC talent, Chandler then faced an unproven regional fighter Sidney Outlaw. In Sidney's Bellator debut he faced Roger Huerta whom is 3-8 in his last 11 bouts. Sidney won, which isn't saying much. Chandler faced Sidney and it showed the low level talent he truly is as Chandler KO'ed him in round 1. Most recently he faced a 38 year old aging vet in Benson Henderson, where Chandler landed as semi-powerful shot that dropped Benson ending the fight. Prior to that he beat an iffy Brent Primus and a bad Brandon Girtz who's 2-6 in last 8 bouts. All opponents well below the talent level of Dan Hooker.

While Hooker went 7-2 over his last 9 cage appearances, only losing to elite level kick boxer Edson Barboza and top level talent Dustin Poirier. Against Dustin is was an absolute war in which ended in a VERY close decision loss for Hooker. Basically the fight came down to who won round 5. Dan Hooker has truly been elevating and hitting his prime defeating much high talent like Paul Felder, Al Iaquinta, Gilbert Burns, Marc Diaries, and Jim Miller. Style wise Hooker has been defeating this same style Chandler brings to the cage for awhile now. With Hooker's sizable reach advantage and fantastic takedown defense it'll force Chandler to stand and trade. In those exchanges I don't think Chandler offers up enough danger to keep Hooker's high volume and pace off him. The leg kicks will open up opportunities for Dan to push forward forcing Chandler to counter in out of position. At the current line of -125 on Hooker is a great price against a guy who's taking a massive step up in competition level.

          Play: Dan Hooker (-125)

Game: (24949) Julianna Pena at (24950) Sara McMann

          Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line
          Play Rating: 3%
          Play: Sara McMann -128

In a preliminary bout Sara McMann faces Juliana Pena…

This is one I'm adding after watching weigh in's as McMann looked to be in absolutely incredible shape. I was already leaning her way, but at this price it provides strong value.

Pena is touted as a high level grappler, but that has truly never materialized. She's yet to submit anyone in the UFC and recently has been getting out grappled. After losing to Valentina Shevchenko via submission and giving birth to a new born baby, she then faced the very low level Nicco Montano who's pro MMA record is 4-3. In that bout Pena should have dominated the ground game, but Nicco was able to survive on the ground for 3 rounds. It was a decision win for Pena but not much to write home about technically. Then most recently Pena faced Germaine De Randamie, who's a top level kick boxer and Pena was submitted by her in round 3. For a female known for her grappling I just don't see it. Standing against Pena is a strong wrestler in Sara McMann. Although Sara is older, she is in incredible shape for this bout. Not only that, but her wrestling should be the perfect counter to Pena seeking to get in tight. McMann should be able to bully Pena down and keep top control round after round chipping away on the scorecards. At nearly a pick'em line I believe McMann has what it takes to get the job done.

          Play: Sara McMann (-128)

Florida St played their first true road game of the season back on Dec 29th when they lost to Clemson by 10. Since them the Tigers are 1-3 ATS shooting 42.5% while allowing 48.6% and the Seminoles are 3-0 ATS shooting 53% while allowing 42%. Tigers are 0-3 ATS on the road, plain B2B road games for the first time and are coming off a game at Georgia Tech in which they allowed 57% shooting. Seminoles proud of their 20 game home ACC win streak and know they also play their next game at home, vs a struggling Miami team.

Teams played last night and Siena lost for the first time in 355 days. I had an opinion on Siena but did not use them as it was not certain they were to get 2020 MAAC POY Jalen Pickett back. They did get him back after missing three game s and he scored 8 points in 33 minutes. That loss snapped a 16 game home streak which they revenge tonight. Siena the much belter offensive team shot a season low 35.8% after avg over 47% their first 6 games of the season. St Peters also shot 58% from 3-point!

ANALYSIS: After a 2-0 start, the Wolves have dropped 11 of their last 12 overall with eight of those losses by double digits. They will continue to be without their best player in Karl-Anthony Towns and have been getting dominated on the boards. The Pelicans are in need of a victory and get to take on a Wolves team that was just beat up at home by the Hawks on Friday. New Orleans is the play.

                          MONTREAL -1.5
ANALYSIS: This is the third meeting between these rivals in four days, and I think the Canadiens are clearly the better team. They have won 16 of the last 21 meetings, and right now the Canucks are playing very sloppy defense; they allowed two shorthanded goals in the last meeting. The Canadiens are the more physical team and rank second in the NHL in shots per game (36.0) and third in scoring (4.88). The Canucks rank last in goals against (4.78). Montreal puck line is the play.

                          TAMPA BAY -1.5
ANALYSIS: In the last meeting between these teams, the Lightning let a 2-1 lead slip away only to win in OT. They have now won eight straight regular season meetings. The Lightning are going to play at a high level all season; they are very good defensively and have perhaps the most consistent goalie in the league and a very dangerous offense that can score plenty of goals. The Jackets are having all kinds of issues on and off the ice. These two teams do not like each other; look for the Lightning to go for the jugular today. Tampa Bay puck line is the play.

                          LOUISVILLE -160
ANALYSIS: Simply put, Louisville is the better team. The Cardinals are allowing 65.5 points per game while Duke allows 72.3. Duke ranks 252nd in the nation from the free throw line, which is very uncharacteristic of a Coach K team. Duke is 0-7 ATS i its last seven games against a team with a winning home record and just 1-7 ATS in its last eight road games. The Cardinals are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a double-digit home loss. Louisville money line is the play.

                          MINNESOTA -6
ANALYSIS: The Golden Gophers are a good team, but they are even better when playing at home where they are 11-0. They already have two big wins over top 10 teams at home and handed Michigan its first loss of the season. The Terps are just 2-4 on the road and struggling a bit as of late. They are sitting in 12th place in the conference. The Gophers are 6-0 ATS in their last six home games and covered 16 of their last 23 ATS as the favorite. Minnesota is the play.

                            GEORGIA TECH @ VIRGINIA | 01/23 | 8:00 PM EST
                            GEORGIA TECH +8.5
ANALYSIS: Since its opening defeats against two unsung mid-majors, Georgia Tech has quietly become one of America’s most blazing teams. The Yellow Jackets’ lone straight-up loss in the span was at mighty Florida State, though there were four games lost at least temporarily to COVID-19. A veteran rotation should enable Tech to cope with Virginia’s stifling defense. The visitors’ balance -- four starters in double figures, the other just a point away -- prevents the Cavs from focusing on one or two players.

                            OREGON ST. @ OREGON | 01/23 | 10:30 PM EST
                            OREGON ST. +9.5
ANALYSIS: Oregon’s 28-game home win streak is on shaky ground. The Ducks are shorn of their top scorer, Chris Duarte (18.4 points per game), and No. 4 scorer, L.J. Figueroa (10.1) for COVID-19 reasons. Two other veterans have been off nursing injuries, so the Ducks likely will dress eight scholarship players. Oregon State rides in on the heels of two narrow wins, the latter against Southern Cal. The Beavers tend to limit turnovers, which would take an arrow out of the Ducks’ quiver. They thrive on transition baskets.

                            LSU @ KENTUCKY | 01/23 | 6:00 PM EST
                            LSU +1.5
ANALYSIS: The oddsmakers appear to have spat out the wrong favorite. LSU should be receiving a point or three. Its straight-up record of 10-3 is vastly better than Kentucky’s 4-9. The Tigers must dust themselves off after a 30-point takedown by Alabama. After their next-worst defeat of the year, the Tigers bounced back with a 53-point win. LSU has never scored south of 75 points this season and tops the league is scoring. Kentucky, living on its name with the betting public, is second worst at 67.0 points a game and does not own the offensive oomph to keep pace.

                            LA SALLE @ RICHMOND | 01/23 | 2:30 PM EST
                            LA SALLE +14.5
ANALYSIS: The Spiders’ season slowed to a crawl for COVID-19 reasons and is just getting rebooted for the first game in two weeks. Richmond did not resume practice until Wednesday, and a second unwanted, extended break this season has slowed the home team’s development. La Salle is no heavyweight but has covered four consultive times. Its defense is comparable to Richmond’s.
