Last season Billy Donovan was the head coach of the Thunder, who were one of the best teams in the league against the spread on road. Now the coach of the Bulls, Donovan has guided them to an 8-2 record ATS on the road. The Magic lost by 15 points against the Raptors on Tuesday, which was their first game without Aaron Gordon (ankle), who is set to miss at least four weeks. They might not have enough firepower left to hang with the Bulls.

                  CHICAGO @ ORLANDO | 02/05 | 7:00 PM EST
                  CHICAGO -2
ANALYSIS: The team with the best road ATS mark in the NBA? It probably would surprise you to know it's Chicago at 8-2. Orlando, meanwhile, has collapsed since starting point guard Markelle Fultz went out with a season-ending injury as the Magic are 2-12 SU and 3-11 ATS in their past 14. They are missing Aaron Gordon as well as a few reserves due to injury.

                  YOUNGSTOWN ST. @ ROBERT MORRIS | 02/05 | 7:00 PM EST
                  ROBERT MORRIS PK
ANALYSIS: We always like pick'ems because if you can't simply pick the winning team, well, what are we doing here? Both Horizon League programs are pretty bad, combining for just six wins on the season. The various models out there, including SportsLine's, believe Robert Morris should at least be a three-point favorite, so that's why we will back the Colonials at home. Robert Morris has lost six straight but has never dropped seven in a row 11 seasons under Coach Andrew Toole. Senior forward AJ Bramah leads the Horizon League in scoring at 21.5 points per game and will easily be the best player on the floor. Youngstown State has failed to cover its past eight games vs. teams with a losing record and is 1-5 ATS in its past six road games.

                  UT-SAN ANTONIO @ FIU | 02/05 | 7:00 PM EST
                  FIU -1.5
ANALYSIS: It's the front end of a back-to-back from Miami between these below-average Conference USA schools. This is simply betting against UT San Antonio because the Roadrunners (one of best nicknames in Division I) are 0-8 on the road both straight up and ATS. FIU lives behind the arc as it leads the nation in three-point attempts and is second in makes per game (11.2). Teams generally shoot much better from deep at home. The Panthers simply need to score at least 67 points as they are 0-6 this year when scoring 66 points or fewer. FIU is 7-3 ATS in its past 10 at home vs. teams with a losing road record.

                  NEW ORLEANS @ INDIANA | 02/05 | 7:00 PM EST
                  INDIANA -2.5
ANALYSIS: This spread seems a bit small, although the Pelicans are totally schizophrenic as they can look great one night and then awful for a week. History has shown they tend to get blown out the game after a win, though. This is the Pels' first road game since Jan. 23 and they are 2-5 ATS as road dogs this year. Indiana was destroyed Wednesday in Milwaukee, but that was the second of a back-to-back and at least no starters played heavy minutes. The Pacers beat the Pelicans 118-116 in overtime at New Orleans on Jan. 4, but this one won't be that close.

                  BOSTON @ L.A. CLIPPERS | 02/05 | 10:00 PM EST
                  L.A. CLIPPERS -5
ANALYSIS: Boston enters having lost three of four, is playing its third road game in four nights, will for sure be without its top perimeter defender in Marcus Smart and could be without second-leading scorer Jaylen Brown (26.4 ppg), who is listed as questionable with knee soreness. The C's are 5-7 ATS on the road. The Clippers can certainly cover 5 points regardless, but it's worth jumping now as that spread will rise a few points if Brown does sit.

                  SO. MISS @ RICE | 02/05 | 3:00 PM EST
                  RICE -3.5
ANALYSIS: This Conference USA matchup is one of the early tips Friday. The Golden Eagles are at the bottom of the West Division and have just one road win all season, coming at Lamar -- one of the worst teams in the lower-tier Southland Conference. USM enters on a four-game skid overall and is 0-6 SU when it allows at least 70 points this year. Rice averages 76.6 ppg and is 5-0-1 ATS in its past six at home. Owls forward Max Fiedler is a double-double machine, shoots 68.9 percent from the field and the only player in the country averaging at least 11.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

                    UNDER 230
ANALYSIS: Wednesday’s meeting between these teams went way Under the total, and yet today’s total is moving slightly up. Even with Russell Westbrook back in the lineup tonight, that will not make up the full difference between this total and Wednesday night’s scoring. The 103-100 Washington win went Under the total by 24.5 points. The Under is 121-96-5 in immediate regular season rematches when the last game went Under the total. That game was Miami’s second consecutive loss as a heavy favorite. The Under is 146-106-3 when teams are coming off back-to-back losses in which they were more than five-point favorites in each.

                    BOSTON +6.5
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles got plenty out of its long six-game road trip going 4-2, but returning home is not necessarily a great boon in the first game back. Teams that are not two-plus point dogs returning home after six-plus game road trips are 131-156-2 ATS. On Wednesday, L.A. defeated Cleveland 121-99. Paul George led the Clippers' effort with 36 points. The Clippers are 0-6 ATS at home off a road game in which George was the high scorer.

ANALYSIS: Orlando has lost four straight, all the defeats coming by at least 13 points. The Magic already were depleted, then they lost Aaron Gordon. This is a nice bounceback spot for Chicago after its home loss to the Knicks. Back the Bulls to improve to 9-2 ATS on the road.

                      S. DAK. ST. -6.5
ANALYSIS: South Dakota has won nine straight, but this is a great spot for South Dakota State to avenge an early-season loss to the Coyotes. The Jackrabbits played without two key players in that 91-78 defeat, which technically was a non-conference game. South Dakota State did not cover its last game, an 11-point win over North Dakota. The Jackrabbits are 29-9-1 ATS in their last 39 games following an ATS loss. Lay the points.

                      FIU -3
ANALYSIS: This line is rising for good reason. The Roadrunners are 0-8 ATS on the road this season, failing to cover by an average of 12.9 points. FIU just snapped a seven-game skid, albeit against a lower-division school, and has gotten key players back for this game. Lay it.

                      OLD DOMINION +4
ANALYSIS: Due to positive COVID-19 tests, the Monarchs haven't played since Jan. 16. So they could be a bit rusty early on. But they resumed practicing Tuesday. They're 5-0 at home this season, including 2-0 in conference play, and they've won more than 85 percent of their home games over the past six seasons. Look for Malik Curry (16.2 points, 4.1 assists, 2.1 steals) to help ODU keep it tight with Marshall, if not win outright.

ANALYSIS: The Golden Grizzlies have won five of six, but their defensive struggles should be the difference Friday night against the Horizon-leading Vikings. Oakland gives up 81.7 points per game and ranks 341st in defensive efficiency. Look for the road team to improve to 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings.

ANALYSIS: Coming off of a five-game homestand in which they went 3-2, the Pelicans will head to Indiana before returning home to play two more contests. They are just 3-7 on the road, including 0-3 in their last three road contests. Across those three games, their average margin of defeat was 12.3 points. Even after the Pacers got blown out by Milwaukee on Wednesday, I like them to cover this small line.
