ANALYSIS: This is a payback game for Los Angeles, which as of now will play everyone of note in the second of a back-to-back. The Clippers were flat-out embarrassed Thursday in Memphis, 122-94. “Absolutely,” Clippers forward Paul George said when asked if it helped ease the loss by playing the same team the next night. The Grizzlies lead the NBA in points in the paint but now are listing center and double-double machine Jonas Valanciunas as questionable with a thigh injury. He was great Thursday with 16 points and 15 rebounds. L.A. is 5-0 ATS in its past five in the second of a back-to-back.

ANALYSIS: If you follow me, I usually take favorites in the NHL just like I will in baseball. However, I will definitely jump at good underdog value in both sports -- especially at home. This is one. I don't think that much of Arizona, but I'm taking the +150 on the Yotes because the Avs are starting inexperienced Hunter Miska in net. In two career starts this year, he is 0-1-1 with a 3.55 GAA. Arizona is going with a backup, too, in Adin Hill, but he has been around the block and didn't allow a goal in 21 relief minutes vs. Anaheim on Wednesday. And, hey, there will be some fans in the stands -- small advantage Coyotes. They are 7-3 in their past 10 as home dogs.

  My math model favors Southern Mississippi in this game and Florida Atlantic is a money-burning 7-21-2 ATS in their last 30 games as road favorites, 3-9 ATS in their last twelve road affairs off three or more consecutive home games, and 0-5 ATS in their previous five clashes with .499 or worse opposition. Southern Mississippi snapped an eight-game losing streak with an 85-72 upset win over Florida International last week.
  The Golden Eagles are led by Tyler Stevenson, who is averaging a team-high 14.9 points per game on 52.2% shooting from the field. Stevenson is one of two players to rank in the top-six for scoring, rebounding and field-goal percentage in league play. The development of Justin Johnson has also helped make the Golden Eagles more competitive recently. Over his last five games, Johnson is averaging 10.3 ppg on 24-for-41 shooting (58.5 percent) and 25.5 mpg.

  New Mexico State is one of the most overvalued college basketball teams in the nation as the Aggies are a money-burning 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall, 1-6 ATS in their last seven road affairs versus teams with a .501 or greater home record and 0-4 ATS in their previous four games following a win. The Aggies also struggle to maintain point spread success as evidenced by their 6-14-1 ATS mark after covering the Vegas number in their previous game.
  Tarleton State is 4-2 at home this season where it's averaging 88.7 points per game on 49.8% shooting from the field and 38.8% from beyond the arc. Overall, Tarleton State is ranked 42nd in the nation in FG% (47.25) and 14th in 3-PT% (39.08). I also like the fact that the Texans 40th in the country in free throw attempts per game (21.7) and 37th in free throws made per game (15.6). The Texans lead the nation in steals per game (11.4) and grade out as the better team in almost every conceivable metric.

Coastal Carolina -5 over Troy
The only flaw Coastal Carolina has is they are sloppy with the ball at times, but Troy turns it over just as much so they won’t be able to use that to their advantage tonight. Both teams can dig in on the defensive end, but the offense Troy brings to the court this season just isn’t good enough and it shows in their overall record. This Trojans team can’t hit three pointers and they don’t share the ball. Coastal Carolina is good at shooting the three ball, amazing on the offensive glass and spread the ball around to each other very well. The Chanticleers have really good guard play and should get a nice road win tonight. Take Coastal Carolina.

Valpo is another bad offensive team that can’t create second chance points on the offensive glass. Indiana State plays great defense and they are active at turning teams over on the defensive end. Bad offenses get worse when they are pressure by aggressive defensive teams. Valpo has always been a tough team at home, but this current squad is just not a good offensive or defensive team. This Crusaders team doesn’t shoot the three ball well and since they are weak on the offensive glass they need to hit a really high percentage of shots to win games. I don’t see that happening tonight against this Sycamores defense. Take Indiana State.

This should be a pretty good defensive game, but Southern Miss lacks the ability to score and are below average in just about every single area of the game. Florida Atlantic’s one big weakness is their three point defense. The good news is Southern Miss is an awful three point shooting team. Every single advantage tonight leans the way of the Owls.
