NCAA-B | Wisconsin vs North Carolina
              Play on: UNDER 137 -110

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR FRIDAY, 3/19:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play on my cut list for the early evening NCAA Tournament action is with Under the Total in the game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Wisconsin (17-12) lost in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament to Iowa by a 62-57 score as a 5-point underdog last Friday. The Badgers have played 7 of their last 10 games Under the Total after a straight-up loss. Wisconsin has also played 11 of their last 12 games Under the Total on a neutral court as an underdog. North Carolina (18-10) lost to Florida in the semifinals of the ACC tournament by a 69-66 score as a 3-point underdog last Friday. The Tar Heels have played 8 of their last 10 games Under the Total on a neutral court after their game with the Seminoles finished well below the 151 point total. North Carolina has also played 5 of their last 6 games in the NCAA Tournament Under the Total. Take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

NCAA-B | Cleveland State vs Houston
Play on: Houston -19½ -115 at linepros

Friday CBB Free play. My selection is on Houston minus the points over Cleveland State at 7:15 pm et on Friday.
As long as Houston doesn't look past its opening round opponent in Cleveland State, it should be able to win this game handily as it owns significant edges all over the floor. The Cougars rank an impressive fifth in the nation in offensive efficiency and 12th in floor percentage. They're going up against a very average Cleveland State defense that checks in 196th in the country in opponents floor percentage, 120th in opponents effective field goal percentage and 200th in opponents non-blocked two-point percentage. Also consider that Houston ranks ninth in the nation in block percentage compared to Cleveland State's miserable 249th ranking. No team has been better than the Cougars in terms of opponents effective field goal percentage and given the Vikings sit 136th in offensive efficiency, Houston should have its way defensively. Finally, it's certainly worth noting that the Cougars rank number one in the country in extra scoring chances per game. It all adds up to a blowout in this Friday evening matchup. Take Houston (8*).

NCAA-B | North Texas vs Purdue
Play on: Purdue -7 -110 at Mirage

Jack's Free Pick Friday: Purdue -7
The Purdue Boilermakers have been playing great basketball since the beginning of January. The Boilermakers are 11-4 SU & 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall. Two losses came by 1 and 3 points, another was in OT to Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament, and the other was to top-seeded Michigan.
The Boilermakers are being disrespected once again as only 7-point favorites over North Texas in the Round of 64 here. They aren't a flashy team, which is why they fly under the radar, but they are a great defensive and rebounding team. I also like the fact that they already played at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Big Ten Tournament, which is where this game will be played. It's a tough shooting background so that is very important.
North Texas is a popular upset pick here after winning four games in four days to win the Conference USA Tournament. But the last three wins were all by 6 points or fewer, so they were fortunate in close games against suspect competition. North Texas went 0-4 SU & 1-3 ATS against the four best teams they played in non-conference.
The Mean Green lost by 15 to Arkansas, by 12 to West Virginia, by 8 to Loyola-Chicago and by 6 to Mississippi State. So that gives us a good comparison here with how they'll likely fare against Purdue, and we can assume they are likely to lose by 8 points or more considering the Mean Green lost to all three of their NCAA Tournament foes by 8-plus points.
Plays against underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points (North Texas) - after four or more consecutive wins, when seeded 13 through 16 in the NCAA Tournament are 60-23 (72.3%) ATS since 1997. The Boilermakers are 12-3 ATS in its last 15 games in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Bet Purdue Friday.

Play on: Sharks +128 at linepros

73 St Louis at San Jose
Revenge game for the Blues who lost 11 days ago in San Jose 3-2 in overtime. St Louis is well rested after having its Monday game with the Kings being cancelled because of weather. San Jose returns home after splitting at Anaheim and Vegas.
In 5x5 G+-/60 the Blues rank 17th and the Sharks 24th. In xG/60 we see St Louis -0.10 and the Sharks -0.10, dead even.
On the Power Play in G+-/60 the Blues rank 10th and the Sharks 17th. In xG/60 St Louis is +6.02 and San Jose +6.51. So the Sharks are due for some positive regression.
On the Penalty Kill in G+-/60 the Blues rank 26th and the Sharks 18th. In xG/60 St Louis is -7.19 and the Sharks -5.78. A nice advantage for the host.
The Sharks just gave away a victory in Vegas on Wednesday. Despite the Blues revenge factor, this line is simply too high to back the visitor. The numbers suggest plenty of value on the Sharks.
                        PLAY SAN JOSE

Play on: Bulls +7½ -110 at pinnacle

                          1* NBA - Bulls/Nuggets *FREE PICK* on Bulls +7.5
Friday's free pick is on the Chicago Bulls as a 7.5-point road underdog against the Denver Nuggets. Great spot to buy low on Chicago and sell high on the Nuggets. Bulls just had a 4th quarter to forget in Thursday's 99-106 loss at home to the Spurs, while Denver destroyed the Hornets 129-104 at home as a 6.5-point favorite.
Bulls have to be sick about how they close out that game against San Antonio. This is still a team that has really been playing solid ball here of late. They also thrive in this role, covering 8 of their last 9 as a road underdog. They have also covered 6 of 8 off a loss. Bet the Bulls +7.5!

FREE PICK - San Diego State -3
                              RATING: 30*
                              ROT#: 750
I will gladly lay the 3-points with No. 6 seed San Diego State against No. 11 seed Syracuse in Friday's First Round action out of the Midwest Region. The Aztecs are without a doubt one of the best non Power-5 teams in the country. They racked up wins over UCLA and ARizona State in non-conference, while also going 23-4 in Mountain West play. They won 11 straight to close out the regular-season and piled on 3 more wins to secure the MWC Tournament.
Syracuse was up and down all season. While they never lost more than two in a row, they also never won more than 3 in a row. A big reason for that is they didn't travel well. The Orange were 13-1 at the Carrier Dome and 3-8 away from home.
I know the Aztecs didn't play as tough a road slate, but they were a solid 10-2 away from home. I just think they will have the easier time getting in a rhythm in this game. Two big things for me. The Aztecs are elite defensively, ranking 11th in the country in defensive efficiency and 13th in 2-point % defense. I just don't see a lot of easy looks for Syracuse, who aren't a great 3-point shooting team.
On the flip side of this, it's no secret that the you need to be able to hit outside shots to breakdown the Syracuse zone defense. While the Aztecs don't shoot a ton of 3's they are very good from the outside. They ranked 27th nationally as a team, hitting 37.5% from deep. I could also see SDSU getting a lot of easy looks in transition off of their defense. Give me the Aztecs -3!

Play on: San Diego State -3 -107 at pinnacle

My free play is on San Diego St at 9:40 ET.
You may have heard of Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim? This marks his 34th NCAA Tournament appearance. He's made five Final Four appearances, including three appearances in the national title game (won in 2003). This year's Syracuse team went 16-7 and many expected them to get relegated to playing in a First Four matchup. However, the Orange slipped into the main draw of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 11 seed.
Awaiting Syracuse at legendary Hinkle Fieldhouse is 23-4 San Diego St, a No. 6 seed. The Aztecs' head coach is Brian Dutcher, who unlike Boeheim, is hardly a 'household' name. However, Dutcher is 96-30 (.762) as his fourth season as the Aztecs' head coach near its end. The Aztecs won 22 and 21 games in his first two seasons plus but last year's team opened the season 26-0, before finishing 30-2. Last year's tourney was canceled, otherwise Dutcher would be in his 4th straight "Big Dance."
Syracuse helped itself late in the season with a three-game winning streak -- North Carolina, Clemson and North Carolina State -- before losing to Virginia at the buzzer in the ACC tournament quarterfinals. Boeheim's son Buddy, is averaging a team-best 17.1 PPG, after scoring a career-high 31 against Virginia in the ACC tourney. Syracuse has a strong frontcourt, consisting of 6-5 SF Griffin (14.7 & 6.5), the 6-7 Guerrier (14.4 & 8.8) and the 6-10 Dolezaj (9.9 & 5.3). PG Girard (9.5 & 3.3 APG) starts in the backcourt with Boeheim, while fellow guard Richmond (6.4) is really Syracuse's only other regular contributor.
San Diego State is led by Mountain West Player of the Year Matt Mitchell (15.4 & 5.5) plus guard Schakel (14.3 & 4.4), who makes 46.7 percent of his three-point attempts to rank THIRD in the nation.Guards Gomez (8.8) and Pulliman (7.2-3.0-3.4) plus the 6-10 Mensah (8.2 & 6.1) and the 6-9 Tomiac (4.7 & 3.4) are the best frontcourt players. SDSU has five seniors among its top-six contributors, as the Aztecs rebounded from back-to-back losses at Utah St (Jan 14 & 15), to win its next 14 games. The final win in that streak was a victory over Utah St in the MWC championship game, avenging not only those two earlier losses this season but losses to Utah St in the previous two MWC title games!
Here's the deal with Syracuse. The Orange were just 3-8 in games outside of the Carrier Dome this season, with their only victories coming against Boston College (2-11 in the ACC) and two wins over NC St after the Wolfpack lost their leading scorer Daniels. Syracuse made a Final Four run as a 10th seed in 2016 and advanced to the Sweet 16 as an 11th seed in 2018, as that famous 2-3 zone can be problematic for opponents not used to seeing it and having to prepare for it on short notice. However, Dutcher is a terrific coach and has a veteran team. In fact, seniors Mitchell (15.3 & 6.0), Schakel (13.0 & 6.0), Gomez (12.7) and Pulliman (12.7 & 3.7 APG) all averaged double digits during the MWC tourney. I thinks this SD St team can make a Sweet 16 run, maybe even an Elite 8 one. That's for another day. Dutcher over Boeheim in this one.
                                Good luck...Larry
