This week the Zurich Classic is a fun team event with two rounds of foursomes and two rounds of fourballs, also known as better ball and alternate shot.
The duo of Chris Kirk and Brendon Todd really strikes my fancy this week as these two compliment each other very well.
Chris Kirk is a lights out ball striker. Not a lof of people have heard of him but he ranks #19 on Tour in Strokes Gained Tee to Green and has the 13th best scoring average this season. I took him last week at 65-1 and he was close finishing T7, his fourth Top 10 already this season.
Brendon Todd is an elite putter and currently ranks #3 on Tour putting. He also leads the Tour in driving accuracy this year hitting over 73.6% of fairways. This format is all about birdies and putting is obviously extremely important.
These two may not put up the most birdies during the better ball rounds but the key to this event is playing well during alternate shot and tell me how this combo sounds.
Brendon Todd, #1 on Tour in driving accuracy to Chris Kirk ranking #32 on Tour in SG Approach, back to Todd with his putter ranking #3. That’s a very solid alternate shot team and the big reason I like their chances this week.

This is a great opportunity for Atalanta to solidify themselves in a Champions League spot for next season with a win here tonight against a struggling Roma side.
Atalanta's defense has also been on point of late, registering the league's 2nd best goals allowed since March 1st and the league's best expected goals against at just 4.99 xga over that stretch.

As imposing as Jake deGrom is with his 99+ mph average fastball, perhaps no one else in the game takes more hard-luck losses. He is just 26-20 over the last four seasons despite a 2.03 ERA. However, the New York coaching staff has decided to give deGrom an extra day before his next start. As a result, Joey Lucchesi will take the bump for the final game of the Mets at Cubs series.
Southpaw Lucchesi will pitch on four days of rest after not making his first start of the season until this past Saturday. The Mets' coaching staff are confident in Lucchesi on short rest due to the low pitch count (55) in his last start.
Trevor Williams had been a Pirate for five seasons before the move from Pittsburgh to Chicago this year. Williams owns a 5.02 ERA in three starts, covering 14.1 innings pitched. He’s allowed 16 hits and walked seven for a WHIP of 1.60. Williams' career numbers that include a 4.44 ERA and a WHIP of 1.34 are in line with who he has been. The Thursday Free Pick is a play on the Mets and lefthander Lucchesi.

Houston right-hander Cristian Javier is the organization's No. 2 prospect and had a solid major league debut in 2020, posting a 3.48 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 3.02 xERA in twelve appearances (ten starts). In two starts this season, the 24-year-old has posted a 2.08 ERA, 3.16 ERA, and a 1.59 FIP across 8.2 innings of work. Javier's strikeouts are up (11.42 K/9), his walks are down (2.08 BB/9) and, most importantly, he has avoided the long ball (0.0 HR/9), which plagued him last season (1.82 HR/9).
Los Angeles starter Alex Cobb is undervalued in the betting market due to his 4.63 ERA this season, but he has performed significantly better than his surface statistics indicate. The 33-year-old owns a 2.06 FIP and 1.68 xFIP across 11.2 innings this season. The veteran right-hander has been hampered by negative variance (.393 BABIP, 66.2% LOB%) which will regress moving forward,
With that said, Cobb has struggled against the Astros, toeing the rubber with a 7.63 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in three career starts. He is backed by a Los Angeles bullpen that has really struggled away from home in 2021, posting a 5.24 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 22.3 innings (20/11 K/9). Los Angeles relievers are ranked 21st in the league in K/9 rate (9.28) and 17th in ERA (4.36).
From a technical standpoint, Los Angeles is a money-burning 16-39 in its last 55 games versus a starting pitcher with a WHIP of 1.15 or less, 10-27 in its last 37 games with a total between 9.0 and 10.5 runs, and 18-37 in its previous 55 trips to Houston. The Astros are a profitable 61-24 in game 1 of a series, 59-27 as home favorites, and 106-52 art home versus right-handed starters.
Since October 1, 2015, the Angels are 0-11 as road underdogs following an upset loss as favorites in which they blew a lead. Finally, the Astros are 15-1 since June 5, 2009 in game 1 of a series at home without rest entering off an upset loss as favorites in which they never held a lead.
