The OVER 9 is definitely worth a look in Saturday's MLB matchup that has the Braves hosting the Diamondbacks. These two combined for 9 runs in the series opener Friday and really didn't swing the bats great. Arizona had just 7 hits on the game, while Atlanta managed only 5.
I think we are going to see both offenses come to life, as we got to two struggling starters on the mound in Madison Bumgarner and Drew Smyly. Bumgarner did pitch well in his last start at Washington, but that's a Nationals lineup that has struggled to score runs (3.2 runs/game). In his previous 3 starts, Bumgarner had allowed 17 runs (at least 5 in all 3) on 22 hits and 8 walks in just 13 2/3 innings.
Smyly has only made 2 starts. His first outing went great against non other than the Nationals, as he allowed just 2 runs in 6 innings. His next start wasn't so good. Smyly allowed 5 runs in 5 innings against the Phillies.
Also worth noting both starters are lefties and both of these teams have hit left-handed starters pretty well. Atlanta is averaging 6.5 runs/game when they match up against a south paw starter and Arizona is similar at 6.0 runs/game.
OVER has cashed in 4 straight games for Diamondbacks and is 12-2 in the Braves last 14 as a home favorite of -150 or more. Give me the OVER 9!

The UNDER (9) is worth a look in Saturday's MLB action that has the Diamondbacks visiting the Braves. These two were lucky to get to 9 runs last night, as neither team really hit the ball well. The two teams combined for a mere 12 hits in the contest. Madison Bumgarner has awful numbers for the season, but is coming off by far his best start in 2021. As for Atlanta's Drew Smyly, he's got an ugly 5.73 ERA to go with a sensational 0.909 WHIP. I think the WHIP is the stronger indicator of how well a pitcher is throwing. This to me is a sneaky good pitching matchup. Play the UNDER 9!

Saturday MLB Free play. My selection is on Los Angeles over San Diego at 9:10 pm et on Saturday.
The Padres have taken the first two games in this series but I look for the Dodgers to get one back on Saturday as they hand the ball to prized offseason acquisition Trevor Bauer. This is precisely the type of game the Dodgers brought Bauer in for, as he looks to serve as a stopper after consecutive losses. Bauer has shaken off a rough spring to post a 2.42 ERA and miniscule 0.62 WHIP through his first four regular season starts. His strikeout rate is up while his walk rate is down considerably compared to his career average and he's held opposing hitters to a collective .114 batting average. His counterpart on Saturday will be Padres ace Blake Snell. He was virtually flawless in the spring but hasn't been quite as dominant through four regular season starts, posting a 4.11 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. There's really not a lot negative I can say about Snell as his advanced stats all show well in the early going this season but he's undoubtedly in for a challenge against a Dodgers lineup that you're just not going to keep down for long. Note that the Padres check in just 16-26 in their last 42 games after winning their previous game by four runs or more, as is the case here, outscored by an average margin of 0.7 runs in that situation. Opponents are averaging just 2.5 runs per game over Bauer's last 16 starts, with his teams winning by an average margin of 1.2 runs. Take Los Angeles (8*).
