Thursday finally begins the Canadian Original Six opening round series between the # 1 seed in the North Division, the Toronto Maple Leafs who ended the regular season with 77 points and the # 4 seed Montreal Canadiens who were able to accrue 59 points on the year.

A deeper dive into this matchup shows that these teams played one another a whopping 10 times during the regular season and since the Maple Leafs did win 7 of the 10 meetings overall including 4 of their 7 wins by at least 2 goals, I am inclined to lay the goal and a half with host Toronto in tonight's series opener.

Montreal is expected to get back winger Brendan Gallagher and goalie Carey Price back for this contest which should help, but remember the Habs do not exactly have a ton of momentum heading into this postseason series, as they lost their final 5 games of the regular season and that includes their last pair of game against Toronto in that stretch.

Go ahead and play Toronto on the Puck Line in Game One.

Tuesday night's comp play release from yours truly was the Under in the Minnesota-Vegas hockey showdown from Sin City.

That game saw the Golden Knights limit the Wild to just one goal in a 3-1 win for Vegas that did indeed hold Under.

We have a change in venue for this Thursday night meeting as the Knights will pay a visit to the Land of 10,000 Lakes for this Game Three in their best-of-seven series, but I do not see a change in the total outcome for this Thursday night affair.

With Unders contested now in the first pair of games, these teams have held Under the total in each of their last 3 series meetings and have been Under the total in 6 of their last 8 overall games contested.

Vegas sports and Under run of 4-0-1 for their last 5 and an overall Under run of 7-2-1 for their last 10 games played Overall.

As I said on Tuesday, until I see signs of the offenses being able to solve the tough goaltending, I will play the Wild and Knights to hold Under the total.

The Minnesota Wild are 6-0-2 all time against the Vegas Golden Knights, when the teams meet in St. Paul.

The Golden Knights found some (I say that lightly) offense in Game 2 to win 3-1, and knot the series at one game apiece. Afterward a rather irritated Wild, Matt Dumba, said things will be different in Minnesota, where they're beasts.

Indeed.

As good as Marc-Andre Fleury has been for Vegas, he has still struggled during his career against this team, and given the Wild throwing more pucks at the net in Game 2, and creating a slew of high-danger chances in front of the three-time Stanley Cup champion netminder, he's due for a bad game.

This is the most pivotal game in a seven-game series, and both teams need to win this game, probably Vegas more than the Wild. And that's what makes Minnesota more attractive, as the Golden Knights are apt to make mistakes. For as many turnovers as they tend to commit, the Wild are fanatical in the neutral zone and transition well with four talented lines.

Look for Minnesota to continue is mastery of Vegas in St. Paul, and take Game 3.
