Two teams headed in opposite directions meet on Friday as The Angels head to Arizona for a 3 game series. Anaheim has been playing good baseball, winners of 5 of 6, including a sweep of the Royals in their last series. The Diamondbacks are on one of the most horrendous runs we’ve seen in some time. The D’Backs have lost 7 straight and 21 of their past 23 games. It’s doubtful things will get better with Merrill Kelly on the mound. Kelly has an ERA over 5 and has given up 5 runs in each of his last 2 starts. Shohei Ohtani enters with an ERA of 2.76, and he’s been great with the bat as well, an added asset not many teams have. This price is cheap considering the Diamondbacks struggles. Take the Angels.

  This is a 5* play on Italy.
  The Italian national team has seen dark times over the last decade, but I think this group has a chance to put some respect back in the name “Azzurri”. They come into this tournament as winners of five straight matches, posting a clean sheet in all five of those games. Their most recent match was a 4-0 win over the Czech Republic on June 5. Ciro Immobile opened the scoring, and Barella, Insigne and Berardi also scored. Turkey also comes in undefeated in their last five matches, although draws against Latvia and Guinea fail to impress. While the Turkish side has plenty of star power up front, a younger and less experienced defense could be their undoing.

The darlings of 2016 are now five years older with no new significant talent added to the mix. Yes, Gareth Bale can still wreck the game, but he has been very average playing on loan for Tottenham this season and I don’t think he will be able to duplicate the majestic success from the previous tournament. Expect Wales to try and slow things down, which is a difficult approach against the creative and organized attacking style of the veteran Swiss side with Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaquiri carving out possession in the midfield. Wales to finish last in this group with Italy and Turkey looming is also a good bet.
