MLB | Astros vs Orioles
Play on: Astros -161 at pinnacle
Monday MLB Free play. My selection is on Houston over Baltimore at 7:05 pm et on Monday.
The Astros are rolling right now, winners of seven games in a row and I don't believe the Orioles will be the team to knock them off on Monday night.
Jake Odorizzi will get the call for the visiting Astros. After struggling in his first two starts this season he has settled down a bit lately. Here, he'll be pitching on five days' rest after four effective innings of shutout ball in long relief against the Rangers last week. Over his last three starts, Odorizzi has posted a terrific 1.13 WHIP and he owns a 1.07 WHIP in two road starts this season.
What keeps us from stepping up to a 9* or 10* rating here is the Astros bullpen, which has converted just seven of 16 save attempts on the road this season. However, on a positive note, the 'Stros relief corps entered yesterday's game having recorded a collective 1.31 ERA and 0.82 WHIP over their last seven contests.
Keegan Akin will be making his second consecutive starts on just four days' rest for the Orioles. Note that neither of his last two starts have been good as he's been tagged for 11 earned runs on 13 hits in just 9 2/3 innings of work. Akin owns a 5.58 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in four starts this season with Baltimore winning just one of those games.
With Akin averaging just under five innings per start we're likely to see plenty of the Orioles awful bullpen. Baltimore's relief corps has posted a collective 4.62 ERA and 1.25 WHIP at home this season, converting only four saves while blowing eight. Take Houston (8*).Comment

I'll take a shot with the Baltimore Orioles today as home underdogs to the Houston Astros. The Astros are coming off a huge series sweep of the Chicago White Sox over the weekend. This screams letdown now in Game 1 of this series with the Orioles. Houston's most vulnerable starter goes tonight in Jake Odorizzi, who is 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA in six starts this season. Keegan Akin fired 5 shutout innings in his only home start this season against the Cleveland Indians. Give me the Orioles.Comment

Dave's Monday Free Play:
1* on Cleveland Indians +137
The Key: I like the price we are getting on the Cleveland Indians tonight as big road underdogs to the Chicago Cubs. The Indians have quietly gone 39-30 this season with little talk about them. They have scored 7 or more runs in 4 of their last 6 games. The Cubs are 2-5 in their last 7 games and Adbert Alzolay makes his first start back from the injured list for them. Alzolay is 4-5 with a 4.06 ERA in 11 starts this year. Aaron Civale is 10-2 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 14 starts for the Indians and has been grossly underrated all season. The Indians are 11-3 (+8.3 units) in his 14 starts. Take Cleveland.Comment

1* MLB - Indians/Cubs *FREE PICK* on Indians +139
Monday's Free MLB Pick is on the Cleveland Indians as a +139 road dog against the Chicago Cubs. I just think this is a great price to take a shot on the Indians. Cleveland will be starting Aaron Civale. Indians have won 11 of his 14 starts this season, including 6 of his 7 starts on the road. Cubs are just 5-6 with Adbert Alzolay on the mound. You also got to look at Chicago's offense right now. Cubs are struggling to score. They have scored 3 or fewer in each of their last 8 games, scoring 2 or fewer in 7 of those. Bet the Indians +139!Comment

NHL | Islanders vs Lightning
Play on: Islanders +1½ -177 at pinnacle
#71 - ASA NHL FREE PLAY ON New York Islanders Puck Line (+1.5 goals) over Tampa Bay Lightning, Monday at 8:05 PM ET - This one is a little too pricey for us to release as a premium play but this pick certainly has strong probability of cashing in and that is why you are reading about it here. The Islanders have played 16 post-season games thus far and only 2 of the 16 games resulted in a New York loss by more than a 1 goal margin. That means 88% of the time, the Islanders have either won the game or lost by just a single goal in this post-season. The Lightning have played 15 post-season games and only 6 of the 15 (40%) have been a Tampa Bay win by more than a single goal margin. This series is tied at 2 games apiece and these semi-finals series (this one plus Vegas/Montreal) have both been so tight it is certainly hard to argue against having the +1.5 goals on your side when it is priced within a reasonable range. In this particular case, grabbing the 1.5 goals (and laying about a -175 price in doing so) with road underdog NY Islanders is absolutely worth a look here as we expect a huge game from the road team in this one after seizing momentum in this series Saturday with a crucial winComment

MLB | Brewers vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Diamondbacks +111 at BetCris
My free play is on the Arz D'backs at 9:40 ET.
The Milwaukee Brewers have made the postseason in each of the last three years and are currently 40-32, tied with the Cubs for first place in the NL Central. The Brewers continue a seven-game road trip (just split a four-game series in Colorado vs the Rockies) with a three-game series at Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The D'backs likely need no introduction but here goes. Arizona had been a competitive team from 2017-2019, averaging 86.7 wins per season but fell to 25-35 in 2020's pandemic-shortened season. The D'backs sat 14-12 through April but then the 'wheels have come off!' They welcome the Brewers to Chase Field having lost 17 in a row, as well as 33 of their last 36. Arizona owns MLB's worst record (20-53), as well as its worst moneyline mark (minus-$2,958 at $100/game), giving them an unwanted 'daily double.'
Taking the mound tonight in the opener of this three-game series will be Milwaukee's Brett Anderson (2-4, 4.24 ERA) and Arizona's Merrill Kelly (2-7, 5.40 ERA). Anderson began his career back in 2009 and the Brewers are his SIXTH team. It's fair to call the vet a 'journeyman,' as his career record sits at 65-69 (4.07 ERA / 1.33 WHIP). He's got just TWO wins in his 11 starts, although the Brewers are 5-6 when he takes the mound. He is coming off seven shutout innings against the visiting Cincinnati Reds on June 15 in his last outing, when he pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with a 9-1 KW ratio in the 2-1 loss in 10 innings.
Merrill Kelly was a rookie in 2019 and while he led the NL in losses that season with 14, he also led Arizona in wins (13) and innings pitched (183.1). Kelly began the 2020 season in the rotation before being shut down on September 1 after five starts (3-2, 2.59 ERA) due to a shoulder injury. Kelly's first six starts of 2021 saw him go 2-2 (team was 4-2) but over his last EIGHT starts, he's 0-5 and the D'backs are 0-8!
The Diamondbacks rallied from a 9-1 deficit against the visiting LA Dodgers on Sunday, forcing them to bring in closer Kenley Jansen after they scored six runs in the eighth to make it a one-run game. Yes, Arizona eventually lost 9-8 but paraphrasing Rod Stewart, "Tonight's the Night!"
Good luck...LarryComment

FREE PICK - Milwaukee Brewers -115
RATING: 30*
ROT#: 905
I just can't pass up the Brewers as a mere -115 road favorite against the Diamondbacks. It's hard to understand how Arizona could be this bad. The Dbacks come in losers of 17 straight and are a mere 2-31 over their last 33 games.
Part of the reason I think we are getting value here with Milwaukee is today's starter, Brett Anderson, is just 2-4 with a 4.24 ERA and 1.393 WHIP in 11 starts. What they overlook is the fact that he was really good in his last start, giving up just 1 hit in 7 scoreless innings against the Reds.
You also got to like the fact that the Brewers come in with some confidence at the plate. Milwaukee scored 18 runs on 32 hits over their last 3 games at Colorado this weekend. They will look to stay hot against Arizona's Merrill Kelly, who has a 7.07 ERA and 1.429 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Give me the Brewers -115!Comment
