The OVER (9.5) is worth a look in Monday's MLB action between the Yankees and Royals. Talk about some poor pitching conditions. The heat index is expected to be over 100 degrees with the wind blowing out to left field at close to 10 mph. It's just near impossible to pitch well for an extended period when it's this hot and muggy out. Look for these two teams to easily combine for double-digits. Play the OVER 9.5!

Monday MLB Free play. My selection is on Chicago over Minnesota at 8:10 pm et on Monday.
The White Sox head into this series fresh off a series sweep of the rival Cubs at Wrigley Field while the Twins return home following a surprising series win over the Astros in Houston. I believe it's Chicago that is better-suited to keep it rolling in this series-opener.
Lucas Giolito will get the nod for the visiting White Sox. He hasn't enjoyed a great deal of success on the road this season but has shown signs of turning things around lately, allowing just four earned runs in 17 1/3 innings in his last three outings away from home. Note that he has been at his best in night starts this year, recording a 3.19 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 12 starts, averaging north of six innings per start in the process.
Behind Giolito is a White Sox bullpen that I'm high on right now, as they're relatively fresh having logged just 357 total innings this season. They've held up reasonably well on the road, recording a collective 3.75 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 14 saves converted and nine blown.
The Twins will give Beau Burrows his first career big league start as they're simply playing out the string having been well out of playoff contention for a while now. With Burrows making his first start he's unlikely to work deep into this game, and that's worth noting as the Twins bullpen has struggled at home to the tune of a 5.14 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. The White Sox certainly aren't an ideal opponent to 'get right' against given Chicago just plated 21 runs in a three-game series against the Cubs and averages 5.0 runs per game on the road this season. Take Chicago.

This is a low O/U number. I believe that it'll likely prove to be too low. Thompson doesn't go deep into games and the Padres just saw him, at Miami, on 7/23. Musgrove was his opponent for that game. Despite that being a pitcher-friendly ballpark, the O/U line was eight. Again, I'm trying to emphasize how low tonight's number is. Having recently seen the pitchers should work in the hitters' favor tonight. Even though Musgrove has pitched well, six of his last night starts have still finished with eight or more combined runs. Another of those finished with seven. While the number is indeed low, it should be a good night for hitting at PetCo. Warm and humid. Prior to last night's pitcher's duel, seven straight Padre games had produced eight or more combined runs. Consider the Over

The Miami Marlins are worth a shot today as massive underdogs to the San Diego Padres. The Padres are just 15-16 in their last 31 games overall despite being a huge favorite in almost every game. They are without their best player right now in Fernando Tatis Jr. Miami starter Zach Thompson should hold them in check tonight and give his team a chance to win in the late innings. Thompson has a 2.74 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in nine starts this season. The Marlins are 22-25 (+14.5 Units) as a road underdog of +150 or more over the last two seasons. Give me the Marlins.
