I like the value we are getting on the Chicago White Sox as underdogs to the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. They face a Blue Jays team that is reeling right now in going 2-7 in their last nine games overall despite being favored in all nine games against weak competition.
It's rare that you'll get the opportunity to back Cy Young contender Lance Lynn as an underdog. The right-hander is 10-3 with a 2.26 ERA and 1.075 WHIP in 22 starts this season. Lynn has held the Blue Jays to 2 runs in 12 innings for a 1.50 ERA in his last two starts against them.
Alek Manoah has posted solid numbers for the Blue Jays this season at 5-2 with a 3.34 ERA in 12 starts. But Manoah is coming off one of his worst starts of the season in which he allowed 6 earned runs in 3 innings of a 12-6 loss to the lowly Washington Nationals.
The White Sox are 7-0 in their last seven during Game 1 of a series. The Blue Jays are 0-4 in their last four during Game 1 of a series. Chicago is 9-4 in its last 13 road meetings with Toronto. Bet the White Sox Monday.

White Sox (Lynn) vs. Blue Jays (Manoah)
Alex Manoah (5-2, 3.24) is on the mound for the Jays today. It will be interesting to see how the Blue Jays’ fine rookie responds to adversity today. Just back from bereavement leave and off his worst start of the season, can he bounce back and perform to his previous level? Unfortunately for him and the Jays, his mound opponent is Lance Lynn for the White Sox. At 10-3 and 2.24 ERA, he has been a real force all season. He had a rough start against the Yankees two outings ago, and the length of his starts has suffered considerably lately.
Neither team has bee sharp of late. The Jays’ poor performance in the last ten games has all but eliminated their chance for a wild card spot, while the White Sox are a poor 5-5 in their last ten. The Jays have been unable to cash in with runners on base and their bullpen is completely untrustworthy. The White Sox’ offense has been spotty and their relief corps nothing to get excited about either.
I like both pitchers here and favor the total in this game. I think Manoah will return to form but the Jays poor relief concerns me. Take the White Sox to win this one outright..

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Monday is with Under the Total in the game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans (0-1) comes off a 17-14 loss at Baltimore in their opening preseason game last week. They return home to Mercedes-Benz Superdome where they have played 7 of their last 10 preseason games Under the Total under head coach Sean Payton. The Saints’ defense played well last week as they held the Ravens to just 309 yards of offense. Jacksonville (0-1) comes off a 24-13 loss to Cleveland as a 1.5-point favorite last week. The Jaguars struggled to move the football as they managed only 302 total yards. These two teams have been in joint practice sessions since Friday — so this preseason game is just a formality that concludes their training time together. With total set at a near-40 range for a preseason game, take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

The Rockies are 0-8 in those eight starts. Senzatela is also 1-1 with a 7.71 ERA in four previous starts against Chicago. Give me the Cubs.

I'll take my chances with the Cubs as a slim -120 home favorite against the Rockies. As difficult as it may be to back Chicago given how bad they have been playing since trading away all their good players, this is just too good a price to pass up.
Big key here is who the Cubs will have on the mound. Chicago will have Kyle Hendricks making his 26th start of the season. It hasn't been a great season for Hendricks, but he's coming off a great start at Cincinnati, where he held the Reds to just 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings.
You also have to factor in how bad the Rockies are on the road. Colorado is a miserable 14-45 away from Coors Field and are scoring just 3.0 runs/game and hitting .211 as a team away from home. Give me the Cubs -120!
