MLB | Dodgers vs Cardinals
Play on: Cardinals +115 at pinnacle
My free play is on the StL Cards at 7:45 ET.
The LA Dodgers are defending World Series champs but find themselves in a life-and-death struggle with the surprising SF Giants in the NL West, a division LA has won the last EIGHT seasons. The 88-51 Dodgers have won SIX of their last eight games overall, including a 5-1 victory over St. Louis on Monday and a 7-2 decision on Tuesday, but remain ONE game back of the Giants in the division. The Cards have been to the postseason in SEVEN of the last 10 seasons but have now lost four straight games to fall to 69-68. St Louis has NO chance of catching the first-place Brewers (Cards are 14 1/2 games back) and with either the Dodgers or Giants all but 'locked in' to the NL's No. 1 wild card spot, St Louis is one of FIVE teams vying for that No. 2 wild card (StL is NOT the favorite!).
This is the third contest of a four-game series. LA manager Dave Roberts had Mitch White prepared to pitch multiple innings Tuesday behind opener Corey Knebel in another bullpen start for this injury-depleted rotation but White (1-2, 3.49 ERA) wasn't needed, so he's expected to start Wednesday. White has made 18 appearances for the Dodgers this season, including three starts. As for the reeling Cardinals, they will turn to Adam Wainwright (14-7, 2.91 ERA) in hopes of pulling them out of their slide.
Wainwright was turned from reliever to starter by the Cards and in six-year span from 2009-14 (note: Wainwright did not pitch in 2011 due to an injury), he won 19 games twice and 20 games twice in five active season (he finished in the top-3 of Cy Young voting all four seasons). He has made 27 starts in 2021 (see record above) with a 1.03 WHIP and .215 BAA. Wainwright lost his first game after the All Star break to leave him 7-6 in 18 starts (team was 9-9), despite a respectable 3.71 ERA. However, he's 'turned back the clock' since that time, going 7-1 with a 1.54 ERA in his last nine starts (Cards are 8-1).
I'm backing the vet here, against LA's depleted rotation (White and whoever comes after him).
Good luck...Larry

DMack's Free Pick for Wednesday, September 8, 2021 is on the St. Louis Cardinals
The white hot Los Angeles Dodgers meet the St. Louis Cardinals and the reborn Adam Wainwright tonight in St. Louis in what in many ways is the feature game of the night. This is for all purposes a bullpen game for the Dodgers and Mitchell White gets the call. The Bums are 29-11 in L40 and 9-2 in their L11 on the road. Adam Wainwright has found new life at 40 and is 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA in his L3 starts. Urgency with both teams as the Dodgers trail the Giants by a game in the NL West and the Cards basically on life support the rest of the way chasing a wildcard. In the end, expect the 6'7" senior to be dealing tonight at Busch Stadium.
The Mack Attack is 30-15 in his L45 MLB releases and 92-62 in all sports over time. The MLB Play of the Day is the feature today with Cowboys/Bucs ready to rock. Bases just $25 per package through the World Series.

MLB | White Sox vs A's
Play on: A's -154 at William Hill
1* Free Sharp Play on A's -154
The A's (-154) are worth a look as a home favorite against the White Sox in Wednesday's MLB action. Might seem like a high price to back Oakland, as they have lost 4 in a row, but that's just not the case. This is all about fading Chicago starter Dallas Keuchel, who has been a complete disaster here of late. Keuchel has a 16.00 ERA and 3.11 WHIP in his last 3 starts. It wasn't just one bad outing that shaded these numbers. He gave up at least 5 ER in all 3 of those outings and two of those were against the Royals and Cubs. Oakland will have Frankie Montas on the mound, who has a 1.31 ERA and 0.726 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Play the A's -154!
