Runs Aplenty in Chicago Game: (933) Houston Astros at (934) Chicago White Sox Date/Time: Oct 10 2021 8:07 PM EDT Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line Play Rating: 4 units Play: Total Over 8.5 (-110) L Garcia (RHP), D Cease (RHP) Must Start
We've got a 24-year-old facing off against a 25-year-old with one team on the brink of elimination. The likelihood that one of them melts under the Sunday night lights has me looking toward the over in this contest.
There is just so much to like about this Houston offense. The Astros led the league in on-base percentage (.336); second in weighted on-base average; and third in slugging percentage. Houston has scored 6, 10, 7, 6 and 9 in their last five games. In two meetings against Cease this season, Houston scored seven and 10 runs.
On the flip side, if Luis Garcia struggles against the White Sox, Dusty Baker is more apt to leave him in the game a little longer than you normally would in a playoff situation. The Astros are up 2-0 in the series. If Garcia struggles and the White Sox jump out to a lead, there's no need for Baker to put his best relievers in to stop the bleeding. They've got three games to close out the series. We'll likely see Garcia go an inning or two longer than he probably should, or the back-end of the Astros' bullpen. Garcia had a 2.39 ERA at home with a 1.01 WHIP. On the road, he has a 4.24 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP.
Take the over 8.5 runs tonight in Chicago as the White Sox host the Astros.
