        NBA | Pistons vs 76ers

        1* NBA - Pistons/76ers FREE PICK on Pistons +10.5
Thursday's Free NBA Pick is on the Detroit Pistons as a 10.5-point road dog against the Philadelphia 76ers. I think this is a good buy low spot on the Pistons, who come into this game 0-3 SU and 0-3 ATS. While Detroit can't be taken too seriously until they get Cade Cunningham healthy and in the lineup, I do think they can keep it within double-digits here. Philly is not as good as they are getting credit for without Ben Simmons in the lineup and while he keeps ending up playing, Embiid has been questionable for every game but the opener with a sore knee. I just don't see the 76ers being overly motivated in this matchup. I'd be surprised if they didn't have a hard time looking ahead to Saturday's game against the Hawks, as Atlanta was the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. Bet the Pistons +10.5!

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Atlanta Hawks -3
The Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards will both be playing the second of back-to-backs. But the Hawks are fully healthy and will handle this situation better due to their depth. The Wizards are far from healthy and their depth will be tested. They have six players on the injury report with Gafford doubtful, and Dinwiddie, Neto, Bryant and Hachimura among those questionable. The Hawks are 3-0 SU in their last three meetings with the Wizards, winning all three last season. Atlanta is 19-9 ATS in its last 28 games as a favorite. Give me the Hawks.

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR THURSDAY, 10/28:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Thursday action was on the South Florida Bulls plus the points versus the East Carolina Pirates. South Florida (2-5) ended a three-game losing streak with a 34-14 victory against Temple as a 2-point favorite last Saturday. After being outscored by -25 PPG in their first four games, the Bulls have come back from their bye week with a one point loss to Tulsa before their victory against the Owls. South Florida rushed for 425 yards last week which did wonders for their defense that allowed only 231 total yards. The Bulls have covered the point spread in 8 of their last 10 games after not allowing more than 275 total yards in their last game. South Florida has also covered the point spread in 6 of their last 8 games against teams with a losing record. East Carolina (3-4) looks to rebound from a 31-24 loss in overtime at Houston as a 13.5-point favorite last week. Quarterback Holton Ahlers completed 23 of 37 passes for 283 yards in that game — but the Pirates are just 13-36-3 ATS in their last 52 games after passing for at least 280 yards in their last game. They have also failed to cover the point spread in 11 of their last 15 home games when favored. This is a dangerous spot for East Carolina that cannot afford to lose this game if they want to maintain their bowl aspirations. Take South Florida plus the points. Best of luck — Frank.

                  Dave's Thursday Free Play:
                  1* on Bulls/Knicks UNDER 216
The Key: This game sets up to be a defensive matchup between the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks. The Bulls rank 23rd in tempo but 2nd in defensive efficiency this season. The Knicks rank 19th in pace and 11th in defensive efficiency. This is a Knicks team that was a great UNDER bet all season last year and should continue to be this year. The Bulls have upgraded their defense in the offseason and clearly want to play slower. The UNDER is 4-1 in the last 5 matchups in Chicago. The UNDER is 5-2 in the last 7 matchups overall. The UNDER is 12-3 in Bulls last 15 games. The UNDER is 8-2 in Bulls last 10 home games. The UNDER is 9-1 in Bulls last 10 games after yielding 100 points or more last game. Take the UNDER.

                    NBA | Knicks vs Bulls
Play on: Bulls -1 -115 at linepros

My free play is on the Chi Bulls at 8:10 ET.
The NY Knicks ended a seven-year postseason drought last year by going 41-31 but lost in the first round to the Atlanta Hawks, who made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks have opened the current season 3-1, after snapping a 15-game losing streak against the Philadelphia 76ers with a 112-99 victory on Tuesday in Madison Square Garden. New York takes to the road Thursday night for a contest with the Chicago Bulls, who are coming off a 31-41 season, missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, However, the Knicks will be playing a much different looking Chicago team this season, as the Bulls are off to their first 4-0 start since 1996.
Julius Randle (25.5-11.3-6.5) leads the Knicks in scoring, while four guards chip in double digits behind him (swingman Fournier is second on the team with 19.0 PPG). Center Robinson is a solid player, averaging 8.5 & 10.5. Chants of "D-FENCE' used to be the rallying cry at MSG but this season's team is averaging 118.8 PPG, the second-highest total in the league. Hey, hasn't head coach Tom Thibodeau been known as a defensive specialist?
Chicago's Zach LaVine has a small ligament tear in the thumb of his non-shooting hand but he's been playing through the injury. He leads the Bulls in scoring at 25.5 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor (44.4 percent from three-point range), while also adding 5.3 RPG and 4.8 APG. Demar DeRozan (a four-time All-Star) has brought a veteran presence next to starters Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball and Vucevic. Ball is new this season and despite all the negativity surrounding him, the guy is an excellent teammate, a VERY good defender and enters his fifth NBA season with a career line of 11.8-5.8-6.4. Center Nikola Vucevic talents were wasted in Orlando and he's opened this season averaging a double-double (14.3 & 11.5).
Of course the Bulls 4-0 SU & ATS run won't go on forever but we may hear chants of "D-FENCE'' coming from Chicago Stadium seats tonight, as the Bulls are holding opponents to 97.5 PPG (2nd-best in the NBA). Bulls go to 5-0 & ATS win a solid win.
                    Good luck...Larry

                      NBA | Jazz vs Rockets
Play on: Rockets +9½ -110 at linepros

This is a play on the HOUSTON ROCKETS for our Thursday Free Play. Utah has opened the season with a 3-0 record and it has covered all three of those games. This is a tough spot on the road as the Jazz have upcoming games against the Bulls and Bucks and could be overlooking the Rockets as a big road favorite. They are average offensively but the defense remains the strength as they are top five in both points allowed and shooting defense but they could face a challenge here. Houston is ranked No. 9 in possession per game with 106.1. Houston has been solid on defense, based on efficiency, not pace, as it is allowing 43.9 percent shooting which is No. 10 in the NBA. On the other side, the Rockets are third in the NBA in three-point shooting as they are hitting 40.6 percent from behind the arc. Houston has covered its only game when getting more than seven points and going back, the Rockets are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a straight up loss. Here, we play against favorites that had a winning percentage between .600 and .750 after three consecutive covers as a favorite. This situation is 24-3 ATS (88.9 percent) since 1996. Play (556) Houston Rockets

Play on: Spurs +7 -109 at pinnacle

Jack's Free Pick Thursday: San Antonio Spurs +7
The San Antonio Spurs opened their season with a 123-97 win over the Orlando Magic. They have gone 0-3 since with three competitive losses to three of the best teams in the NBA in the Nuggets by 6, the Bucks by 10 and the Lakers by 4. This is now a great time to 'buy low' on the Spurs here as they take a step down in competition against the Dallas Mavericks.
I just don't trust Jason Kidd as a head coach, and it's going to take some time for the Mavericks to gel this season with the coaching change. They lost by 26 to the Hawks in their opener before beating the lowly Raptors and Rockets. And they could be without Kristaps Porzingis, who is questionable tonight.
San Antonio is 15-6-1 ATS in its last 22 road games. The Spurs are 18-8-1 ATS in their last 27 games as road underdogs. Dallas is 0-5 ATS in its last five home games. The Mavericks are 11-22 ATS in their last 33 games vs. a team with a losing record. Bet the Spurs Thursday.

The Buffalo Sabres travel to Anaheim to take on the Ducks on Thursday night. Buffalo is 4-2 SU overall this year while Anaheim comes in with a 2-5 SU overall record on the season. Buffalo is 4-18 last 3 years on the road when the total is 5.5. Buffalo is 3-7 last 10 games against the Western Conference. Buffalo is 5-12 last 17 games after a SU win. Buffalo is 15-38 last 53 games overall. Buffalo is 16-47 last 63 games as an underdog. Buffalo is 21-70 last 91 road games. Buffalo is 11-40 last 51 games as a road underdog. Buffalo is 1-7 last 8 games after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game. Anaheim is 2-0 SU vs Buffalo the past 3 years. We'll recommend a small play on Anaheim tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

Don't be fooled by the Flyers' 3-2 record. Yes, the Flyers upset the Oilers, 5-3, last night as a huge plus $1.75 road 'dog. Credit to the Flyers for that. But Philadelphia isn't as good as its record. I base that on the Flyers' below-par goaltending and well below average rate of shots on goal and against. This is just the Flyers' second road game of the season. Philadelphia is in a letdown spot and playing without rest. The Flyers have lost the past seven times when playing on the second of back-to-back nights. The Canucks are eager to atone for a frustrating 3-2 loss to the Wild in their home opener two days ago. Vancouver opened with six consecutive road games going a respectable 3-3. The Canucks are 5-0 the past five times when playing on one day's rest.
