AI Picks: Black Friday Stakes | November 26, 2021

            November 24, 2021 | By Jeremy Plonk

Black Friday for holiday shoppers is also one of the biggest racing days of the year. To assist your handicapping with a few of the main events, key stakes selections provided by the 1/ST BET app measure each contender against the 10 leading factors for each race. The 1/ST BET app looks at 52 handicapping factors and more than 200,000 past races to determine its AI selections.

You can use the automated handicapping factors, or create your own factor filters to incorporate angles you prefer. Full-card selections can be found in the 1/ST BET app. We’ve included the official track morning line odds with each runner.

              Race 7: Claiming

#1 Quickflash gets a big drop down in class for this race, while also getting Luis Saez aboard, which should lead to improvement. #3 Jerusalem Gates runs second off the layoff in this spot after a third place effort last time out. We should see a better effort in this spot.

              Race 8: Gio Ponti Stakes
              freestar

#6 Never Surprised has finished a close second in three straight Graded Stakes races. This drop in class should lead to a win for him today. #8 Monition has won two straight races coming into this race. It is time for him to step up to stakes company.

              Race 9: Comely Stakes (G3)

#4 Crazy Beautiful seems to be the classiest horse in the race. She gets back to the dirt today, which is clearly her best surface. #5 Played Hard was a close second to Crazy Beautiful last time out, and seems to be the biggest challenger to the favorite again today.

              Race 10: Claiming

#2 Stanhope drops down to the claiming ranks today, which is a pretty big drop, after facing tough horses in his last several starts. #6 Montauk Daddy gets back to the turf for this race, which is his best surface. Three back he won a race that looks tougher than this one.

The horse racing tips for Friday, November 26, 2021

The Quinté + of Friday November 26 is scheduled at the Vincennes racecourse in the discipline of trotting. Find below our predictions for this race as well as our bet of the day and our bet of madness in two other races on the menu of the day.
THE PRONOS OF THE QUINTE OF NOVEMBER 26
                Mathieu Zaccagnini

                5 Farrell Seven (Favori)

Mathieu Zaccagnini’s favorite is the 5 Farrell Seven. He is at the top right now and he enjoys it a lot on the main track at Vincennes.

                1 Forever Jiel (Outsider)

Its outsider is 1 Forever Jiel. Delicate but talented, he must aim for the first places if he is wise.
                Lionel charbonnier

                15 Peak Fire

Lionel Charbonnier thinks that the 15th Fogo Pico seems able to line up a new success in view of his victory in the benchmark event.
                THE BET OF THE DAY

                Meeting 1 (Vincennes) – Race 1: 13 Goéland d’Haufor

He has been prepared for this purpose and he is showing up barefoot. All lights are green.
                THE MADNESS BET

                Meeting 1 (Vincennes) – Race 6: 9 Jamiroquai

He has already won twice in three outings and he depends on one of the best trotting with youngsters.

                  #9
Handicapper J. Keeler Johnson shares $100 worth of picks and plays for Friday, Nov. 26 at Aqueduct, Churchill Downs, and Fair Grounds, plus suggested singles for Aqueduct’s $73,574 Pick 6 carryover.

                  Picks and Plays
                  Aqueduct: Race 4: Forever Together S. (1 1/16 miles, 1:18 p.m. ET)

#4 Flower Point (7-5) didn’t get the cleanest trip in the one-mile Noble Damsel S. (G3) at Belmont Park last month, but the daughter of turf star Point of Entry nevertheless rallied gamely to finish third, beaten only two lengths with a career-best 95 Brisnet Speed rating.

Flower Point will face only five rivals in the Forever Together, and dropping down the class ladder should make her a formidable win threat for hot trainer Shug McGaughey, who has gone 4-for-12 (33%) at Aqueduct this meet.

Let’s bet Flower Point to win and key her over #1 Speaktomeofsummer (5-2) and #3 Giacosa (7-2) in the exacta.

$25 to win on #4 Flower Point
                  $5 Exacta: 4 with 1,3 ($10)
                  Total: $35
Churchill Downs: Race 5: Maiden Special Weight (six furlongs, 2:57 p.m. ET)

The experienced fillies and mare in this maiden dash don’t appear overly formidable. The par winning Brisnet Speed rating for these conditions is 86, but none of the entrants have posted a figure higher than 79.

This suggests the field’s lone first-time starter, #2 Sweet Tea (5-1), can vie for victory on debut. A daughter of two-time leading sire Into Mischief (who sires 15% winners from first-time starters), Sweet Tea is a sibling to a pair of fillies who won their debuts at age two. Both went on to win at the stakes level.

Sweet Tea sold for $300,000 as a yearling and has put together a solid work tab for trainer Larry Jones, culminating with five furlongs in 1:00 3/5 at Churchill. She looks ready to roll, so we’ll bet Sweet Tea to win and play her over #3 Anna Volante (5-2) in a cold $10 exacta, in order to capitalize on the Exacta Insurance promotion.

$20 to win on #2 Sweet Tea
                  $10 Exacta: 2 with 3
                  Total: $30
Fair Grounds: Race 5: Maiden Special Weight (1 1/16 miles, 4:09 p.m. ET)

Since the 2018, trainer Brad Cox has compiled a stellar 12-for-38 (32%) record saddling two-year-olds in sprints at Fair Grounds, which includes a fantastic 6-for-9 (67%) record with juveniles entering off at least one previous race.

These stats point toward Cox’s #2 Majestic Union (7-2) as a key win threat in this two-turn route for juveniles. The son of Belmont S. (G1) winner Union Rags ran encouragingly in his debut over one mile at Indiana Grand, gaining meaningful ground through the final furlong to finish second by 1 3/4 lengths.

Cox wins at a 37% rate with horses running long for the second time, so we’ll place a hefty win bet on Majestic Union before adding an exacta using #3 Fannie and Freddie (3-1) and #4 Chrome Racer (4-1) for second place.

$25 to win on #2 Majestic Union
                  $5 Exacta: 2 with 3,4 ($10)
                  Total: $35
                  Carryover Watch
                  Aqueduct, Race 5: $73,574 Pick 6 carryover (1:45 p.m. ET)

Ready to chase a post-Thanksgiving carryover? Aqueduct is ready to oblige with a hefty $73,574 prize pool in the $1 Pick 6.

The sequence looks challenging at first glance, with 60 entries (averaging 10 per race) before scratches. But if you’re willing to single a pair of logical favorites in the second half of the sequence, the Pick 6 should be playable on a reasonable budget.

These are the two horses we recommend singling:
                  Race 8: Gio Ponti S.: #6 Never Surprised (4-5)

Never out of the exacta in five starts for hot trainer Todd Pletcher (a 25% winner this meet), Never Surprised has held his own against tough company this season. Since returning from a long layoff in September, the son of Constitution has finished second in both the Saranac S. (G3) at Saratoga and the Hill Prince S. (G2) at Belmont, losing the latter race by just a neck.

Never Surprised will face easier competition in the Gio Ponti, setting the stage for victory. He’s 2-for-2 racing on grass at Aqueduct, winning his debut before posting a pacesetting score in the Central Park S. Never Surprised has plenty of tactical speed, but is versatile in terms of running style, so he’s going to be tough to beat if he brings his A-game to the Gio Ponti. He looms as the most trustworthy single in the Pick 6 sequence.
                  Race 10: $25,000 Claiming: #6 Montauk Daddy (7-2)

Speed has been dominant in six-furlong sprints over the outer turf course at Aqueduct this meet, with pacesetters going 5-for-11 (45%). This stat points toward Montauk Daddy as the horse to beat in the Friday finale.

A speedy four-year-old conditioned by ultra-hot trainer Rob Atras (a 36% winner this meet), Montauk Daddy has set the pace in seven of his last eight starts. Along the way, he’s shown strong form against tougher company than he’ll encounter on Friday, dominating a $35,000 claimer by 5 1/2 lengths before nabbing a $50,000 starter allowance by two lengths.

Montauk Daddy might not be a lock to win, considering his form has slipped in recent starts and several of his rivals have been posting similar Brisnet Speed ratings. But in a competitive Pick 6 sequence, Montauk Daddy is nevertheless a viable candidate for singling if you need to reduce ticket costs down to a more manageable range.

                  Good luck!

Daily Horse Racing Tips – Aqueduct – 26th November
                    By Spotlight Racing Group

                    NAP: Never Surprised (8:14 Aqueduct)
Next Best: Army Wife (8:43 Aqueduct)
                    Other: Flower Point (6:18 Aqueduct)
                    Surprised to take Gio Ponti

The best bet on the card looks to be Never Surprised, who contests the eighth race on the card, the Gio Ponti Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth on turf.

The three-year-old has yet to finish outside the first two in five career starts, with his most recent effort resulting in a neck defeat when runner-up in the Grade 2 Hill Prince Stakes at Belmont Park just over a month ago.

The son of Constitution attempted to make all on that day, and while he has employed front running tactics in three of his last four starts, it’s notable that he raced with slightly more restraint when winning on debut and from off the pace when runner-up in a Grade 3 event at Gulfstream Park at the end of January.

Todd Pletcher’s charge has the services of Kendrick Carmouche, who has been on board for three of the colts five previous starts and Never Surprised is taken to register a first stakes success in this $150,000 contest.

                    Wife for stakes success

Army Wife demonstrated that she can be competitive at the highest level when finishing third lengths third in the Cotillion Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Parx back in September.

Given a break since then, the daughter of Declaration of War gets a drop in grade here as she seeks to deliver a third Graded stakes success of the year. The most recent of those coming by three-and-three-quarter-lengths in the Grade 3 Iowa Oaks over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Prairie Meadows at the start of July.

The mile-and-one-eighth distance here should prove no issue for Luis Saez’s mount, given she finished a good two-length third to top three-year-old filly Malathaat in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes over a mile-and-one-quarter at Saratoga on her penultimate start.

Trainer Michael Maker’s charge delivered an impressive 1:00.40 five-furlong breeze on the Churchill Downs training track earlier this month, and she can register a fifth victory in 12 career starts.

                    Flower in Forever Together

The first of three stakes races on the Aqueduct card, the Forever Together Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth on turf can go the way of Flower Point.

The daughter of Point Of Entry has been competing in allowance optional claiming company for much of the last two years. Still, she has proven she is up to being competitive at stakes level in recent times, delivering a career-best effort when finishing two lengths third in the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes over an extended mile on turf at Belmont Park last time out.

Her trainer Shug McGaughey has made an impressive start to this meeting, and he comes into this contest with a 33% strike rate (4/12) while jockey Jose Lezcano, onboard last time out, has ridden nine winners from his 50 rides here so far.

The selection advertised her wellbeing with a solid 48.01 four furlong breeze on the turf track at Belmont Park last weekend, and she is taken to register a fifth victory in sixteen career starts.

Al Cimaglia: Cal Expo Pick 4 Analysis-$25,000 Guaranteed Pool

                      November 26, 2021 | By Al Cimaglia

Tonight, Cal Expo has a 9-race card ready to roll which includes a 0.20 Pick 4 that begins in Race 6. The sequence has a $25,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

                      Race 6

4-Northbrook Ron (6-1)-Comes off a decent Hawthorne meet and paced the back half in 56.4 in its CalX qualifier with a 27.3 last quarter. Should be forwardly placed and can be in the mix at a fair price.
5-Contemporay Legend (7/5)-Raced well in a needed start but was parked for the 2nd half of the mile and faded down the lane. Should be better tonight at a small price, and if speed isn't holding backers may not be rewarded.
6-Dislocator (5-1)-The Plested barn has been batting 44% winners and this 5-year-old came off the bench with a
a nice victory. Steps-up after getting only the 1st win in 29 starts but best to not overlook after being used hard into a quick 1st half.

                      Race 7

5-May Day Maggie (9/5)-Roland entry has won 11 of the last 35 starts but is a small track specialist. This will be the CalX debut and what separates this filly from the rest is not being camera shy. This is a suspect bunch and should be bet hard.
7-D Vigilante (5-1)-Will take a swing that Plano has good reason to choose this Rios entry over the 1-2-3. Has only 1 win in 23 CalX starts but finished 2nd in 7 of those races. Comes off an even effort in the 1st start since 4-24 and should be forwardly placed tonight.

                      Race 8

3-This Dog Wont Hunt (6/5)-This six-year-old has won 2 of 3 at CalX but has only 8 career starts. Paced the 2nd half in 56.1 to finish 3rd in a needed a start. Beaten even-money chalk does its best work racing near the top of the stack. Kennedy sticks and will probably be more aggressive from the start.
5-Believe In Dragons (9/5)-This Schneider pupil paced evenly after a 6-month hiatus and did finish the mile with a 27.2 last quarter. Plano should have the 3-year-old in striking range turning for the money and could leave to get the pocket behind the one above.

                      Race 9

2-Frewil Dakota Sven (5/2)-Shipped in from Kentucky and raced a big mile from post 8 to score at 1/2. Now steps-up after taking the long way around to win handily. With this post draw its best to not overlook chances for an encore.
4-He Grins Again (5-1)-Was used hard early in its CalX debut which was the 1st start in 2 months. Plano steers his own this time and should be tighter. Could surprise at a fair price if speed is holding. Was the pilot's choice over the other stable entry #6.
7-Its Pointless (2-1)-Closed the meet in April with 3 straight pictures. Came back last week and made another trip to the winner's circle. Svendsen stays loyal to Plested and steers #1, so Kennedy will be in the bike. Winner of 14 in 19 CalX starts deserves respect, so will use and hope for those above with more value.

                      0.20 Pick 4

                      4,5,6/5,7/3,5/2,4,7
                      Total Bet=$7.20

Forecast: The Friday opener is a stronger-than-par second-level allowance middle distance turf event offering two main contenders that are both, surprising to us, listed at 7/2 on the morning line behind Red Storm Rising (2-1) and Eastern Ocean (5/2). Whooping Jay, never worse than second in four career starts over the Del Mar grass course, stretches out after a series of strong sprint tries and always has been just as effective going long as short. Drawn perfectly inside, the M. Glatt-trained gelding seems certain to be the controlling speed and given that type of trip the son of Square Eddie should be hard to run down. Two bullet workouts since raced indicate he’s a sharp as ever. Media Blitz rallied strongly against soft fractions to be a close second at this level last month at Santa Anita in an effort that produced a career top speed figure. He’s won over the local lawn in the past and projects to enjoy a comfortable pace-stalking trip. We’ll give the edge on top to Whooping Jay but include both in rolling exotic play.

                        Notable Workouts:

Whooping Jay (November 19, Santa Anita, 5f, :59.4h TT). Grade: B+
Looked quite good without ever being asked, final three furlongs in :36 flat, plenty left late. On top of his game and can sprint or route equally well.

Media Blitz (November 12, Santa Anita, 4f, :47.4h TT). Grade: B
Very light coaxing late to finish in full stride, final three furlongs in :36 flat. Maintains his sharp edge.

                        Single: 5-She’s So Shiny

Forecast: She’s So Shiny is re-equipped with blinkers while dropping into a seller for the first time, and from her cozy outside draw the daughter of Capo Bastone seems likely to dictate the race flow. She’s a standout on speed figures and projects to be on the lead without having to produce quick fractions. She’s the 7/5 morning line favorite and could easily go lower, so we’ll make her a short-priced rolling exotic single but otherwise pass the race.

                        Use: 3-Darling Donna; 6-Champagne Camie

Forecast: Darling Donna produced a significant forward move in her second career start when a strong runner-up (well clear of the rest) in a maiden special weight main track sprint at Parx in late September. She makes her West Coast debut in a below average turf dash for juvenile fillies that should be within her capabilities for the always-powerful V. Cerin/K. Desormeaux trainer-jockey combo, so at 4-1 on the morning line we’ll put her on top. This same owner-trained combo is represented by the 3-1 morning line favorite, Champagne Camie, a Saratoga invader with form that makes her strictly the one to beat. The daughter of Speightster finished in the frame in her first two outings but then disappointed when off the board, though earning a career top number when fading to fifth last time out. We’re expecting the winner to be one or the other and both should be included in rolling exotic play

                        Notable Workouts:

Champagne Camie (November 14, Santa Anita, 4f, :47.4h). Grade: B-
Slightly best inside Little Lara (same time), splits of :22.4 and :48 flat und mild late coaxing. Seems in good enough shape, has her speed.

                        Use: 5-Mongolian Wind; 6-Synthesis

Forecast: Scratched yesterday when 30-1 on the morning line for this more realistic spot, Mongolian Wind debuts for R. Baltas following a $25,000 claim in this middle distance main track affair. We’re expecting a significant forward move by the lightly-raced gelding, who projects to settle nicely somewhere in the second flight behind what should be a contested pace. The son of Mucho Macho Man, listed as the 9/5 morning line favorite, is a solid fit on speed figures and switches to V. Espinoza, who has ridden a lot of live runners for this barn of late. Synthesis is the one to fear most. Overmatched in a tougher first level allowance optional claimer at Santa Anita last month, the son of First Samurai is strong on numbers, returns to his claim level, and is guaranteed a nice stalking trip from his outside draw. We’ll prefer Mongolian Wind on top but include both in rolling exotic play.

                        Notable Workouts:

                        Synthesis (November 19, Santa Anita, 4f, :48.3h). Grade: B+
Under wraps while appearing quite sharp in easy breeze for J. Mullins, final three furlongs in :36.2. Appears on edge for a major effort.

                        Single: 2-Midnight Special

Forecast: Let’s take a stand with Midnight Special as a single in this allowance optional claiming turf sprint for older horses. A clever winner last month on turf at this five furlong trip at Golden Gate fields, the son of Vronsky moves up from $20,000 to $40,000 following a R. Hess, Jr., claim, switches to the barn’s “go to” rider K. Desormeaux and catches a field that surprisingly doesn’t have a whole lot of early speed signed on. Quick enough to be on or near the lead from the get-go, this hard-knocking gelding should have every chance to pay a quick dividend for his new connections while offering wagering value at or near his morning line of 4-1.

                        Use: 2-Honor Among Men; 6-Gerlach’s

Forecast: Honor Among Men, claimed last month for $16,000 when second while more than five lengths clear of the rest, should be too quick for this group in his first start for M. Maker. The pace scenario in this abbreviated dash looks fairly soft, so with the switch to U. Rispoli the son of Bayern should have every chance to wire the field as the 2-1 morning line favorite. Gerlach’s, fresh from a confidence-building maiden $20,000 score that produced a career top number three weeks ago, can be dangerous if he can duplicate that performance in this tougher spot. The Grazen gelding seems likely to inherit a good stalking position outside and then have dead aim on the favorite from the top of the lane to the wire.

                        Use: 2-Friar’s Road; 3-Say the Word; 7-Rockemperor

Forecast: Rockemperor didn’t have much of a chance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf S.-G1 three weeks ago after being buried on the rail most of the way and then getting shuffled back at a critical stage entering the far turn. He wound up a non-threatening eighth (beaten under seven lengths) but today gets a much easier assignment while switching to turf master F. Prat in this year’s renewal of the Hollywood Turf Cup-G2. Friar’s Road, a lightly-raced son of Quality Road from the M. McCarthy barn, finished strongly to be third when beaten a head in the John Henry Turf Cup-G2 last time out and before that crushed an allowance field in a mini-marathon affair over the Del Mar lawn during the summer season. He’s had only 10 career starts, and his numbers continue to rise, so with another bit of improvement today he’ll have a legitimate shot at it. Say the Word has a chance off his best effort as well. Freshened since mid-August, the More Than Ready gelding is a genuine stayer with a good turn of foot, so with a bit of help up front and good racing luck he’s likely to make some noise close home.

Use: 4-Quick Finish; 7-Brace for Impact

Forecast: Brace for Impact has been away since February but there a couple of bullet workouts on his tab about a month ago that indicates he’s fit enough to fire a big shot in this first-level allowance sprint. A winner over this track and distance last year following a similar vacation, the K. Headley-trained gelding projects to be on or near the lead under regular pilot E. Maldonado. He’s 8-1 on the morning line and represents a reasonable gamble at that price. Quick Finish is another layoff runner worth considering on your ticket. Second in all three starts at Del Mar, the D. Blacker-trained gelding is just 2-for-20 during his career but has numbers that are competitive and recent drills that should have him plenty fit.

                        Notable Workouts:

Brace for Impact (November 3, Santa Anita, 5f, 1:00.1h). Grade: B
Splits of :23.2 and :48.3 from the half mile pole to the wire, mild ridden late, solid drill on the comeback trail for K. Headley. Seems pretty fit and has fired fresh in the past.

Use: 5-Witch Moon; 7-Air Force Woman; <8-Bowl of Cherries

Forecast: The finale is a messy $50,000 maiden claiming turf miler for fillies and mares. We’ll try to get by using just three. Bowl of Cherries stretches out for the first time and is bred to handle the mile, so we’re anticipating the daughter of Speightster will have a strong pace presence throughout. Her sprint numbers are a fit this level, so her morning line of 6-1 seems about right. Air Force Woman was given a race sprinting in her debut and finished evenly without posing a threat. She switches to F. Prat, stretches out to a distance her pedigree okays, and shows two easy five furlong drills at San Luis Rey Downs that should help her move forward. With the addition of blinkers, the daughter of Air Force Blue likely will display improved early speed. Witch Moon is an 11-race maiden and was a beaten choice in a similar affair last month at Santa Anita, missing by a half-length when second despite having every chance from the furlong pole to the wire. She’ll more than likely be in the thick of things again today and in a soft field has to be considered a threat.

#7 Feature Act He can show up with some finishing ability from time to time, and he should appreciate the move in with the locals after a string of tries at Pimlico. He ran well in his only local try, so he's worth a look here.
#1 Brian's Avenue I worry that he's not going to offer a fair price based on his realistic chances of winning this, but something like his two-back effort keeps him in the mix, and he's probably capable of bouncing back after the Laurel try.
#4 Quick Entry He goes off the claim for a very dangerous team, and the addition of blinkers while moving around two turns might keep him right up on the splits in the early going.
Race Summary Feature Act looks like a good fit with a modest bunch, and the hope is that he'll bounce back here after a dull showing last time out at Pimlico. There isn't really anything to be afraid of in here, and I'm willing to let 9/5 ML chalk #3 Padrino's Heart beat me.

                          Charles Town - Race #6
                          Picks Notes
#6 Anna Rocks She ran well while getting back over the local surface last time out when chasing throughout and settling for second behind an easy winner. Think she'll get another perfect trip here.
#5 Golden Grant She has a right to be tough if her Laurel conditioned claiming form transfers over against this group, as she has a little versatility and turned in a nice score last time out. Capable if she handles it here.
#4 Tayler's Chrome She's another coming in from Laurel, but she's bringing classier running lines with her than Golden Grant, but I worry she doesn't tower over these and may get bet a bit too much.
Race Summary Anna Rocks may be an attractive mid-range price with these after a solid run last time out, and she may be able to track the pace and grind out a score here.

                          Charles Town - Race #7
                          Picks Notes
#1 Northern Ridge He's a potential price player while dropping out of stakes company, and he has run okay against this type of company in the past. Think he's a little interesting with the right trip from the fence.
#5 Ishihara He just scored at this level and is welcome to run right back in it as a 'non winner of two' because his WV-bred races do not count against him. He's tough with anything like his last.
#6 Irish Meadow He just missed to Ishihara as the odds-on chalk last time out, so the price figures to be a bit better this time around. He has the right kind of tactical pace to score here, and believers may want to give him another chance.
Race Summary Northern Ridge gets out of a tougher spot, and he might be able to tuck in behind the pace and settle patiently on the inside. Think he's got a real chance with these at a price.

Race Summary Artistic Meadow rallied for second from post 8 last week and played the bridesmaid against a repeat winner two back. She should sit an ideal stalking trip from the rail with plenty of pace to rally into. Play a 1-4-7 exacta box.
