I'll take a plus price on the Islanders against the Red Wings. The Islanders have won two of their last three games as they get healthier. Their last five losses all have been by one goal. So this certainly figures to be a tight game.
New York isn't going to lack motivation either having lost a one-goal game in overtime to the Red Wings 10 days ago on the road.
The Red Wings aren't playing well, losers of three in a row. So what else is new? Detroit is giving up an average of six goals during this losing streak. The Red Wings have permitted 3 or more goals in each of their last five games.
The Islanders have dominated this series despite that recent loss beating Detroit seven of the past nine times.

I will lay the 7-points with Creighton at home against Arizona State. This is a young and talented Bluejays team that I think is flying a bit under the radar. Creighton comes into this game ranked just 59th at KenPom, which says they are a fringe tournament team. I think they are better than that.
The Bluejays are 8-2 with their only two losses coming on a neutral site to Colorado State by 6 and at home to Iowa State by 6. Both of those teams haven't lost this season with the Rams and Cyclones both sitting at 10-0.
On the flip side of this, Bobby Hurley's Sun Devils have been a disappointment. They started the season ranked No. 58 and are now sitting at No. 101. Yes, the schedule has been difficult, but for me it's more about how many of those games they just weren't competitive in and when they have faced a bad team they haven't dominated. Give me Creighton -7!

Penny Hardaway's Memphis Tigers won the NIT championship last season and opened the 2021-22 season ranked No. 12 in the AP's preseason poll. Memphis opened the year 5-0 but has matched its longest losing streak in nearly five years by losing FOUR in a row. Snapping that slide will not come easy tonight when the Tigers welcome 8-1 Alabama to FedEx Forum. Nate Oats' Crimson Tide are coming off a 26-7 season (Sweet 16 appearance) and opened 14th in the AP's preseason poll. However, after back-to-back wins over then-No. 3 Gonzaga and then-No. 14 Houston, Alabama comes to Memphis ranked No. 6 in the latest AP poll.
Alabama is loaded. The starting-five consists of guards Shackelford (19.1 & 6.9) and Quinerly (14.5 & 4.3 APG), a pair of 6-6 forwards in Ellis (11.2 & 6.4) and Gary (9.9 & 5.7) plus 7-0 center Bediako (7.1 & 7.4). Also making key contributions are guard Davison (9.8-5.2-4.3) and swingman Miles (7.1). Alabama is averaging 86.0 PPG, 7th-best in the nation.
Memphis owns an excellent frontcourt, led by two freshmen, the 6-9 Bates (11.2) and the 6-11 Duren (10.4 & 7.9), who join the returning 6-9 Williams (10.2 & 5.1). The perimeter group is deep, with a five-player rotation. However, Nolley, who was named the most outstanding player in the NIT, has dropped off from averaging 13.1 & 4.1 last season, to 7.8 & 3.6 TY (?). Quinones (8.0 & 3.6), Harris (6.9), Lomax (5.9) and Timbrerlake (5.3) complete the group.
Here's the rub. The Tigers' 5-0 start had them ranked No. 9 in the nation, but FOUR straight losses (against Iowa State, Georgia, Ole Miss and Murray State), have left them unranked and are now just looking to stay above .500. Alabama has clearly been the better team but back-to-back wins over top-15 programs( like Alabama has just done), is pretty rare for the Crimson Tide. In fact, it's the first time they have achieved that double-double since wins over then-No. 11 Auburn and then-No. 7 Tennessee in February of 2000. On the Memphis side, Friday's 74-72 loss to Murray State snapped an 11-game home winning streak! Is Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway scrambling for answers? Maybe but I'm willing to take the points here with the home dog, which may just catch Alabama in a 'flat spot!'

The Oilers are in a slump and you-know-who is not scoring. As McDavid goes, so go the Oilers, and while he is due to break out, it is less likely to happen against the Leafs' #7th rated defense, and goaltender Jack Campbell. It is a rare day when I take any Oilers' game to go under, but this will be one. The Oilers have issues that need to be addressed. Take tonight's total to go under.

The Portland Trail Blazers have now lost five straight. They went 1-4 without Damian Lillard, but he returned against the Timberwolves last game. Now Lillard should be back to full strength and it's going to make a big difference for this team. They were without CJ McCollum as well, which is a big reason for their recent struggles. But they will be fine with Lillard back now. And they are rested playing just their 2nd game in 6 days. The Suns will be playing the second of a back-to-back after a 95-111 loss to the Clippers last night. It's a banged up Suns team missing their best player in Devin Booker, which has led to a 1-4 ATS run in their last five games. De'Andre Ayton and Jalen Smith are both questionable for the Suns tonight as well. The home team is 6-1 SU in the last seven meetings. Give me the Blazers.

Tuesday NHL Free play. My selection is on Vancouver over Columbus at 10:05 pm et on Tuesday.
The Canucks are rolling right now. We won with them on the puck-line at home against the red hot Hurricanes on Sunday and I'm willing to take a flyer on them again on Tuesday as they host the Blue Jackets. Vancouver certainly still has a lot of lost time to make up for after its miserable start to the season. With that being said, the Canucks are playing as well as any team in the league right now, winners of four consecutive games by a combined 12-5 margin. Despite their earlier struggles, the Canucks are still giving up only 2.3 goals per game on home ice this season. Contrast that with the Blue Jackets, who check in 5-8 on the road where they allow a whopping 4.1 goals per contest. Columbus is coming off a 5-4 win in Seattle on Saturday but it's worth noting that it hasn't posted consecutive wins since reeling off three straight victories from November 22nd to the 26th. Take Vancouver.
