Harness Racing: Power Plays and Horses to Watch for Dec. 16-18
        Frank Cotolo

        POWER PLAYS
        Friday / Dec. 17
        Meadowlands
        Races 5, 6, 7

Let’s get this Pick 3 together. Here are our suggested contenders for the Pick 3 and single-race win/place/show and/or exotics.

        Race 5
It’s not easy to begin a multi-race exotic with a field like this one. The number of scenarios available to the active handicapping mind is boggling. Or is it as simple as the 10 horse, In The Night? We want to think so. This Dover mare has been successful there and has won more in her last five starts than any others here. Alkippe’s recent bout in this company offered a late brush that wreaked of his sire, Sweet Lou. She should hit the board.

        Race 6
Never pass up Alexa Skye in a "Pick" leg, especially when her last race (at Hoosier) was almost won after losing a hot first-quarter duel. She’s revving to be a total whiz at five and can start here. Beyond Words N has raced two sharp miles better than her odds and here she could rattle the field early or late to win it.

        Race 7
Watch My Luck has not impressed the betting public but the posts have been some factor and she had some of these types to race at late last week and now she is on course to make a big showing from post 4. She may even make the big try on the engine. Juxta Cowgirl made three ambitious moves here last week after being competitive at Philly and Streak The Lawn got a late start this season but looms dangerous to make the exotics.

NYRA's Aqueduct Racetrack had their Fall Meet, and now the Winter one is in full swing. Though the turf is covered until April, dirt racing is 100% available ... so, this is still one of the tracks that garners mass attention.

At Horseracing.net/us we have you covered, including all of the action! It is a good time for some of the best that North American racing has to offer. Stay tuned!

If you're looking for picks elsewhere around the country this Friday be sure to check out our free Horse Racing Picks via the gold button below.

Most Likely Winner: (Race 1: Amazing Dream #10, 9/2):

Out of this expansive field, one runner stands out as the “likely winner.” HOF trainer Todd Pletcher’s 2-yr-old filly by First Samurai is dropping out of the MC30k level where she put in a “mild bid” last time. The off-track that day probably did not help, but I think she has a good shot coming back to the MT @AQU. Repole Stable invests in some good ones up at NYRA, and this one cost them $190k. That is no small amount … Jockey Manny Franco gets the call, and I would like to see him return to the form that he had over a year ago. Pletcher is an ace at MC contests, so it stands to reason that he has the winner here.

          Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #10

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 3: Seven Lilies #5, 5/1):

Here is an experienced gelding by Rattlesnake Bridge that has 45 starts under him. Trained by Rob Atras, he has some solid attempts on the NYRA courses. After winning nicely last time on a “good” track at Aqueduct, he is going try higher company in this OC45k event. I am thinking that he can keep this winning streak alive, since his fitness is more than sound. Dylan Davis is a rider who works well with Atras, and he already understands his mount. Maybe this one will drift up towards 6/1 or 7/1 on the tote. Time for this veteran to take these other runners to school …

          Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #5 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 6: Dirt, 6F, OC50k, 2F):

The highlight on the card this Friday could be this OC event … Out of these 9 that are entered here, you could go in a number of directions. There are a number of these young filles who have a number of efforts to their name. They seem poised to turn the calendar and head towards their 3-yr-old campaigns. When it comes to a race time favorite, I am thinking that Rudy Rodriguez’s Slow Crossing #8 will take quite a bit of money, especially since her debut race was an off-the-pace score back at Belmont in late October. There is no question that was a strong 1st outing, but the question is, can she capitalize on that performance? I am doubtful, and I am much more interested in Rudy Rod’s other half of the uncoupled entry—Saratoga Kisses #6. With 6 career races under her saddle, this filly by Kantharos tried a high-level “Non-G” contest over at Finger Lakes. She had little in the way of response that day (finishing 10 lengths back -7th), but that doesn’t mean T-Mac cannot get the job done today. Let’s use both of “RR’s” runners, but also take a hard look at Todd Pletcher’s well-bred filly by super sire Into Mischief. No More Mischief #3 won by just a neck at Belmont back in mid-October, and she did it facing adversity throughout the race. I realize she is in the same boat as Rodriguez’s inexperienced entry, but the difference is that this is a Todd Pletcher charge. We all know what his numbers look like, and Mathis Stable paid the tidy sum of $95k for this one back at the Keeneland 2020 Sept. Sale. With a front-running style, if Manny Franco can get him to the lead, then he might have the chance to take it to the house. Should be an interesting one … to say the least.

Wagering Recommendation: $2 Trifecta Box, 3/6/8

Best Horse Racing Bets for Friday, December 17, 2021
By J.W. Paine in Horse Racing

My three tracks for the Friday picks are Charles Town Races, Gulfstream Park, and Turf Paradise.

Turf Paradise brings us three ungraded stakes races to fret over, but Gulfstream Park brings us the most profitable underdogs (including one 5/1 sleeper). On the other hand, Charles Town yields three races where the favorite is most likely to prevail. Some days are like that.

Remember that you can see the full race-cards for all three tracks at our best online racebooks.

            Good luck!
My Friday Picks for Charles Town Races

We’re on the main track for race six, a 1-1/16 miles allowance run for fillies and mares three years old and upward. I’m backing the 7/5 morning-line favorite—Door Buster, ridden by top jockey Denis Araujo.

This three-year-old filly finished in the money 11 of her 13 career starts, winning five, including the Its Binn Too Long Stakes in May, the Sylvia Bishop Memorial Stakes (Black Type) in August, and the West Virginia Tourism Office Breeders’ Classic Stakes (Black Type) in October.

In this eight-horse field, she’s the only entry with any stakes experience to speak of. No-brainer? And then some.

Ollie L. Figgins, III trains Door Buster for owner Jay A. Reese. Figgins put Araujo in the irons for two of Door Buster’s stakes victories, as well as his maiden win.

Race seven is a 4-1/2 furlong starter allowance race for West Virginia-bred fillies and mares three-years-old and upward. Like race six, this run features a favorite with plenty of stakes experience, except in this case, not quite so successful.

So, I’m betting my two dollars on the 3/1 second-favored Charm Weaver, with Denis Araujo aboard.
This three-year-old filly moneyed eight of her 15 career starts, winning five, including her two most recent. She’s the statistical standout in this 11-horse field.

Ronney W. Brown, who’s been ranked in the top 100 trainers nearly every year since the turn of the century, trains Charm Weaver for owner Richard P. Harris Jr.

Race eight is a 1-1/16 miles allowance run for three-year-olds and upward. If J. D. L Acosta rides the also-eligible Luxero into the starting gate, bet them to win. The morning line says Luxero is the 3/1 second-favorite.

Trained by Claudio A. Gonzalez for MCA Racing Stable LLC, this three-year-old colt moneyed ten of his 16 career starts, winning three. Not great, but those stats put him at the head of the line in this 13-horse race.

If that doesn’t happen, then buy a win ticket on the 9/5 favorite, Martin Man, piloted by Victor Rodriguez. This six-year-old gelding finished in the money 27 of his 43 career starts, winning six. Again, not great, but surprisingly impressive versus the rest of this field if we don’t have Luxero to bet on.

Newcomer Wade S. Sanderson trains Martin Man for AB Racing LLC.
            Friday’s Picks for Gulfstream Park

Let’s start on the all-weather track with race five, a five-furlong claiming run for three-year-olds and upward that have never won three races. I like the fourth-favored (at 9/2) Putin Online, piloted by top jockey Edwin Gonzalez.

This four-year-old gelding moneyed three of his five career starts, winning two. In this eight-horse field, he’ll do.

Sarah Nagle—who’s having a very good 2021—trains Putin Online for owner-breeder Big Lick Farm.

Race seven is a 6-1/2 furlong claiming race on the dirt track for fillies and mares three years old and upward that have never won two races. I like the fourth-favored (at 6/1) Frankie’s Girl, ridden by Luis Figueroa.
Carlos Luis Perez trains Frankie’s Girl for Clap Embroidery. Figueroa, returning to jockeying recently after a three-year hiatus, rides regularly for Perez.

Let’s move to the turf for race eight, 1-1/16 miles claiming run for three-year-olds and upward that have never won two races. I’m backing the 5/1 sleeper, Eyes On Target, with veteran jockey Junior Alvarado in the irons.

In a field where the morning-line’s top two favorites took an average of ten attempts to graduate the maiden class, this three-year-old ridgling needed only two. For the record, Eyes On Target moneyed two of his six career starts, winning one.

With nearly fifty years in the racing business, William I. Mott trains Eyes On Target for owner James S. Karp.
            Friday Picks for Turf Paradise

Let’s start with race six, the Zany Tactics Stakes—a $60,000 purse, five-furlong turf run for three-year-olds and upward. I’m betting on the 3/1 morning-line favorite, Minister of Soul, with veteran jockey Luis A. Fuentes aboard.

This seven-year-old gelding finished 23 of his 34 career starts in the money, winning 12, including the Tom Metzen H. B. P. A. Stakes (Black Type) at Canterbury Park in September.

Minister of Soul is trained by owner Esteban Martinez. Martinez has tapped Fuentes to saddle Minister of Soul for his last five races.

Race seven is the Arizona Juvenile Fillies Stakes, a $60,000 purse, 6-1/2 furlong run on the dirt track for two-year-old fillies. I’m betting all two of my dollars on the 7/2 second-favored Bella Dona, with Lindey Wade in the irons.
This filly moneyed all six of her career starts, winning five of them, including the Rio Grande Senorita Thoroughbred Futurity (Black Type) at Ruidoso Downs in August, the New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity at Albuquerque Downs in September, and the New Mexico Classic Cup Lassie Championship Stakes (Black Type) at Zia Park in October.

Longtime racing veteran Simon J. Buechler trains Bella Dona for owners Robert M. Driggers, Del Rae Driggers, and Ben Lee Ivey.

Race eight is the Lost in the Fog Juvenile Stakes, a $60,000 purse, 6-1/2 furlong run on the dirt track for two-year-olds. I have to agree with the morning line here and buy a win ticket on the 3/1 favorite, Bango for Bucks, piloted by veteran jockey Glenn W. Corbett.

This gelding moneyed all three of his career starts, winning his initial maiden attempt in September and an allowance race in November, then placing second in the Arizona Breeders’ Futurity earlier this month. His stats are the best you’ll find in this nine-horse field.

Thirty-year racing veteran Bill Brashears trains Bango for Bucks for owners Tom W. Bartol and Richard Dezonno.

Rocket Picks : Gulfstream, Oaklawn, Remington, and Aqueduct for December 17, 2021
              By: Jared Welch

The action continues today with a big Friday or racing! For the free pick 4, we will head to Aqueduct once again today. There is also great action at Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn, while it’s Springboard Mile day at Remington Park! Let’s see if we can hit this late pick 4 at Aqueduct!

Below is our free Late Pick 4 for Aqueduct:

              Aqueduct December 17, 2021

              Race 6: Starter Optional Claiming

#4 Lady Milagro should be tough moving back to the dirt for this race. Her 8-1 price provides value in this field. #3 No More Mischief will look to make it two in a row after a nice win on debut at Belmont Park.

              Race 7: Claiming

#3 Happy Farm is always competitive at this level. He looks to be the class of the field. #1 More Graytful will take a drop down in class after facing much tougher company last time out.

              Race 8: Allowance

#4 Eloquent Speaker runs first off of the claim off of just 6 days rest, which means her new connections see something positive in her. #3 Bastet nearly won last time out after setting an easy pace. It is projected that she could get a very similar trip today.

              Race 9: Claiming

#9 Breaking Stones was close at this level last time out, finishing second, while todays field does not look to be as tough. #6 Speed Effect looks like he could be in front today, and is the one they all must run down late. He drops down in class after a third place finish last time out.

              THE TICKET

              $.50 Pick 4 (Races 6-9) 3,4,6,9 / 1,3,7 / 3,4 / 4,6,7,9 – $48

Busan Friday: Race-By-Race Preview (December 17)

It’s the penultimate weekend of the season and the weekend’s focus will be on the filly and mare division with both the final leg of the filly Triple Crown and also the Jeju Governor’s Cup for older fillies and mares taking place at Seoul on Sunday. The weekend’s racing kicks off in Busan on Friday with 7 races from 12:40 to 18:00. Despite new restrictions having been imposed, currently all betting locations are set to be open (this is subject to change if the government decides so) but advance reservation through the MyCard app is required. Here are Friday’s previews:

                    Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

They’ve managed to find twelve previously unraced juvenile fillies to kick us off, which is quite a feat for the penultimate week of the season. Unsurprisingly none set the world alight in trials, but a couple put in decent showings. (7) DAEJI PERFECT was fastest, leading for much of her heat and ultimately crossing the line in 2nd place without being asked for too much effort. It was her second trial and she showed great improvement from the first and if she continues that trajectory can win here. She will vie for favourite status with (1) GASOK DAY. She also showed prominently in her trial finishing 2nd in a slower time than Daeji Perfect but on a drier and slower running track. The jockey booking will ensure she is well-backed. (12) BEAUTY BROWN led her trial and while she needs to overcome the widest draw, she may be considered here. (8) RED COLOR and (2) SPECIAL FACT are others who hinted at ability in their heats and may go well first up.
Selections (7) Daeji Perfect (1) Gasok Day (12) Beauty Brown (8) Red Color
                    Next Best 2, 10
                    Fast Start 1, 2, 7, 12

                    Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

Having made progress across four starts so far, culminating in 2nd place last time out over 1200M on November 14th, (1) ADELE CHUKBAE is the one to beat here. He was only beaten last time by Wonderful Fager, who came out and won again two weeks later and from the inside gate, should be on pace and be hard to run down. (11) USEUNG HUNTER looks the clear second choice. He too has shown improvement over four outings and was 2nd last time overcoming an indifferent start to run on well. He too steps up to this distance for the first time and while the wide draw is not ideal, he has claims. Draw a line through the latest effort by (5) GIANT CAL when drawn very wide over 1400M. He has a 2nd place to his name at today’s trip and should be competitive here. (9) CHEONMA BRAVO and (4) BAEDARI ICON are others with placing claims.
Selections (1) Adele Chukbae (11) Useung Hunter (5) Giant Cal (9) Cheonma Bravo
                    Next Best 4, 7
                    Fast Start 1, 8, 10, 11

                    Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1600M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

A small field tackle the mile, but plenty have chances. We’ll take a chance on (8) CHEONGHO LEADER, who is one of the few who steps up to this trip for the first time. He has been consistent at 1400M, running on well in his races and the additional furlong may well suit. (5) DAMYANG DOLPUNG has plenty of experience at the distance and comes in with his latest couple of outings being positive. His times haven’t been special, but they won’t need to be in order to be in the mix here. (2) YEONGCHEON SOLEMIO is an interesting one as his three starts so far have all been at 1000M. He has been well backed in all three of those but hasn’t managed to finish better than 4th. It may be that the extra distance today is what he needs. (1) GEUMUI MAN steps up in trip after a decent 3rd place at 1200M last start and is another with placing claims while (3) URI JOEUNNAL is another who can be there or thereabouts.
Selections (8) Cheongho Leader (5) Damyang Dolpung (2) Yeongcheon Solemio (1) Geumui Man
                    Next Best 2, 9
                    Fast Start 2, 4, 5, 9

                    Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Fillies (and one mare) only here. (7) ILBEONJI fully justified her odds-on status with a facile gate to wire win on debut over 1000M on October 24th. She comes up in class and in trip here but can lead again and can have too much again. Also up in class is (11) H. DAY, who got her maiden win at start number two on October 10th, settling handy and then running on strong in a fast time. She too should be able to handle the additional distance and can measure up in this company. (1) SUNSET MELODY was a winner on debut back in September and has proven competitive in two subsequent efforts at this class and distance, finishing in 3rd place on her latest outing two weeks ago. She draws nicely here and should be in the hunt. (13) GOLDEN POWER comes up in class after a win at this distance on November 26th. She may need some luck in the run from the wide gate but warrants respect here. (8) HALLA NURI another in the placing frame.
                    Selections (7) Ilbeonji (11) H. Day (1) Sunset Melody (13) Golden Power
                    Next Best 8, 2
                    Fast Start 5, 7, 11, 12

                    Busan Race 5: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

                    (8) CHEONNYEONUI QUEEN beat three of these on her way to 2nd place at class and distance on November 21st, continuing a run of good form and she has every chance in this competitive handicap where she can sit midfield and run on from off the pace. (2) FLASHY CHARM comes up in class and in distance after a good win over 1200M on November 28th. His running style has been to sit behind the pace and run on, suggesting the increased trip should be no problem and he has the potential to ultimately go higher than this class. (4) CHEONNYEONUIYAKSO mixes his form but has the fastest time among any of these at this distance. He draws much better than in his latest two outings and should be in the mix here. (14) CRONUS and (9) MUJEOK CHARLIE among others with placing hopes.
Selections (8) Cheonnyeonui Queen (2) Flashy Charm (4) Cheonnyeonuiyakso (14) Cronus
                    Next Best 9, 5
                    Fast Start 1, 6, 7, 11

                    Busan Race 6: Class 4 (1800M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

A good race and it is stablemates who were both also-rans in the Korean Derby on November 7th who top the contenders. (4) WORLD CHANGE is set to be favourite. He runs for the first time since the Derby when he was well back, but his prior form was good including a super win over a mile. He also beat (7) KING GOLIATH when they met at a mile in September. King Goliath himself has raced since the Derby, finishing 2nd at class and distance just a couple of weeks ago when he ran on well but couldn’t quite get to a good winner. He should be going very close again. (1) YEONGWON POWER beat King Goliath when the pair ran 1st and 2nd over this distance at class 5 level back in October. He comes in after a good class and distance 2nd at the end of November and under a light weight and from a good gate should be very competitive again. (10) COOL GUY and (8) WHITE GALLOPER among other chances in a competitive race.
Selections (4) World Change (7) King Goliath (1) Yeongwon Power (10) Cool Guy
                    Next Best 8, 6
                    Fast Start 4, 6, 9, 10

                    Busan Race 7: Class 3 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

It didn’t happen for (6) SUCCESS MACHO in the Owners’ Cup on November 21st, a race in which the previously unbeaten three-year-old was sent of as favourite but turned out to be a bit much too soon. Plenty of others had off-days in that race too and given the level of performance he had put in over five winning starts before that, he has to be given another chance here. Like Success Machi, (9) ONNURI JILJU found the elite level a bit hard at this stage of his career, finishing down the field in the Cup Mile and Derby in his latest two starts. Returning to shallower waters today, he should be a much more dangerous prospect. Continuing the pattern of drawing lines through latest starts, (3) ALPHA STAR was on pace early but weakened over 1800M at his latest three weeks ago and should appreciate the drop ack to a mile today. (2) SMART MOD and (11) TOP FIRE among others in the hunt.
Selections (6) Success Macho (9) Onnuri Jilju (3) Alpha Star (2) Smart Mod
                    Next Best 11, 1

                        RACE 6: ROOSKI (#9)

Slow Crossing could go favored after winning her debut at Belmont. She lacked some early speed getting into stride despite a hustling ride, but responded when put to serious pressure while angling wide off the turn. There were some big gaps behind her in a strung-out field, so she may have run well even if there wasn’t much behind her. She’s bred to have ability as a half-sister to solid New York-bred performers Too Early ($218k) and John’s Island ($413k). The only slight negative is that she’s offered for a tag once again even after that solid debut victory. I prefer her to Rudy’s other runner Saratoga Kisses, who beat an awful field when she broke her maiden. No More Mischief could also attract support but she comes out of a slower race for Todd Pletcher. Lady Milagro is a bit more interesting at a square price since she has run deceptively well in a few of her defeats and has a chance to improve returning to dirt. Yet my top pick is Finger Lakes maiden winner Rooski. This filly began her career on turf, putting in a series of respectable efforts against NY-bred maiden special weight foes. She switched to dirt at Finger Lakes last time and delivered a solid 78 TimeformUS Speed Figure while winning easily by 7 lengths. While she’s by good turf influence Tourist, her damside pedigree is geared more towards dirt. The Jeremiah Englehart barn had been quiet at NYRA for the past few months, but he is 9 for 21 (43%, $3.98 ROI) with last-out maiden winners in NYRA dirt sprints over the past 5 years.

                        RACE 7: FREE ENTERPRISE (#2)

Graded stakes-placed 4-year-old Answer In is clearly the one to beat as he drops in class. He was facing a tougher group last time when first risked for an $80k claiming tag in October. He tried to rally through the lane, but couldn’t make up much ground in a race dominated up front. Prior to that he was compromised by a slow pace at Saratoga, though he clearly didn’t show up that day. He was running races earlier this spring and summer that would crush today’s opposition. However, the substantial drop is a concern, as his best days may be behind him. Cox is a decent 19 for 61 (31%, $1.63 ROI) with horses dropping in claiming price by 50% or more in dirt sprints over 5 years. I’m not way against him, but I don’t need to pick him at a short price. Alcools responded well to the change of scenery when Peter Miller shipped him to NY earlier this year. He put in a career-best effort to win in the slop on July 3, though got claimed away that day. After one start for low-profile connections at Saratoga, he was claimed back by the same ownership group and transferred to Chris Englehart. He got right back on track, winning at this level in September. I’m not sure why they tried turf last time, but now he’s back on the right surface. I’m using him prominently, but I’m interested in another horse out of that Sep. 16 race at this level. Free Enterprise was once a promising runner for Chad Brown but he had lost his best form long before he was claimed away from that barn this summer. He really didn’t regress much at all for Jeffrey Englehart in his first two starts for the new stable. He raced competitively against Alcools and Happy Farm, who are both players here, before winning at Penn National two back. While some might get down on him for the loss at Finger Lakes, he was beaten by a pair of runners who are in the midst of strong seasons at that track. He’s now placed appropriately for his return to NYRA and has the tactical speed to work out a trip.

                        RACE 8: FIRING CAROL (#7)

This is among the weakest open N1X allowance events that you’ll see contested on the NYRA circuit, so I want to approach it with an open mind. I suppose Eloquent Speaker is one of the horses to beat as she wheels back in 6 days off the claim for Natalia Lynch. She got back on track with one of her better efforts off the layoff last time, but I don’t fully trust her to repeat that performance as she returns on short rest. The TimeformUS Pace Projector shows Bastet on the lead in a situation favoring the front-runner, but it’s pretty hard to endorse her winning at this level even off an improved effort for Ed Barker last time. She’s just a little cheap and has never been that reliable. Jades Gelly would be a perfect fit for this race off her dirt efforts at Saratoga this summer. She’s gone the wrong way recently but perhaps she’s just been looking to get back on the main track. I think she’s most interesting of the logical players, but I want to get more creative. Firing Carol may be tough for some to endorse given her trainer’s winless record on the year and the fact that she’s ridden by a low-percentage jockey. However, she’s run some of the best speed figures in the field, and she’s one of the only horses in this race with experience against legitimate allowance company. She faced some very good horses in Caramel Swirl, Glass Ceiling, and Goodnight Olive in her recent starts at this level. She didn’t get particularly close to any of those foes, but she did run well enough to pick up minor awards on a few occasions. Her last couple of races look poor, but she doesn’t want 9 furlongs against Grade 3 company and last time she got caught in traffic and kickback when making her run. She figures to be a square price and she can certainly win this with her good efforts.

Remington Park: Stakes spot plays for Dec. 17
                          John Mucciolo

In addition to the $400,000 Springboard Mile S., Remington Park hosts another four black-type events on Friday evening. Below are my interests for these four events.
                          Race 8 – Jim Thorpe S.

Oklahoma-bred sophomores will travel one mile on the main oval in the first stakes event of the day. It’s hard for me to look past morning-line choice #7 Number One Dude (1-1) in his current form cycle. The American Lion gelding has been strong since adding blinkers and simply looks the best of the cast.

#4 Tap the Dot (5-1) has speed in a paceless contest, and the Steve Asmussen pupil seems like the main danger to the formidable favorite.
                          Race 9 – Useeit S.

Three-year-old Oklahoma-bred fillies will race in the one mile affair on the dirt with six going postward. I will side with Kari Craddock’s #5 Gotta See Red (5-1) to turn the tables on a few of her foes at a square price. The daughter of Pollard’s Vision had a poor trip when fourth in preparation of Friday, and marked improvement is expected with Leandro Goncalves retaining the mount. The dark bay is one of my top selections on the entire card.
                          Race 10 – She’s All In S.

An excellent field of eight fillies and mares will vie in the route affair on the dirt. I am not sure if #1 My Bets (12-1) can upset the fine field, but I do like her chances to rally for a piece at a big price for conditioner Phil Sims. The four-year-old daughter of Include has been facing lesser competition this campaign, but she possesses a consistently strong turn of foot and I love that she drew the rail to save ground throughout. The Kentucky-bred will have Lane Luzzi in the controls.
                          Race 11 – Trapeze S.

A one mile endeavor for two-year-old fillies is the penultimate stakes race on the card and features a fine field of 12 youngsters. #7 Hits Pricey Legacy (8-1) earned a hefty 103 Brisnet Late Pace number in her first route try on the course last time out, and I think that she possesses great value. The March foal has been first or second in each of her four lifetime outings to date for trainer C.R. Trout, who gave her a pair of morning works following her stakes romp. Jose Alvarez has the call.

Al Cimaglia: Cal Expo Pick 4 Analysis-$25,000 Guaranteed Pool

                              December 17, 2021 | By Al Cimaglia

Cal Expo begins the weekend with a 9-race card and the 0.20 Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $25,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

                              Race 6

4-Native's Best Bet (6-1)-Makes the 1st start of the meet and the qualifier was fine. Did pace the back half in 58.3 for team Kennedy and this is the level where a picture could happen. Willing to take a swing the connections will have ready to roll coming off the bench.
5-Tink And Tiger (6/5)-Makes the 4th local start and drops to a spot to shine. This 13-year-old doesn't take many pictures but drops to the basement and had excuses in the previous 3 races.

                              Race 7

1-Uniquerock (4-1)-Comes off a win and could double up but will need a good steer. Lackey has the post to work an efficient trip.
4-Senga Nigtmare (7/2)-Rolled the back-half in 56.4 to draw off by 3 lengths and beat this kind last week in a new lifetime mark. Best to respect chances for an encore in an interesting affair.
7-Sierra Mystique (10-1)-This mare has hit the board in 5 of 9 at CalX and has taken 3 pictures. Was driven aggressively in last and looks like a live price play. Svendsen may try a different plan and come off cover to roll by down the lane.

                              Race 8

4-Roaring Home (6/5)-Raced well in both local starts. Last week's effort was on a sloppy track and is only 2-23 on a wet surface. Drops to a soft spot and Plano sticks.
7-Blue Gem (3-1)-This veteran mare makes her 4th local start after being off since 9-14 and could be sitting on a big effort. Has improved in every try and looks to be racing herself into shape.

                              Race 9

1-Casa Miasa (4-1)-This 9-year-old mare can pass foes down the lane. Succarotte could work a suck around trip and roll by near the wire.
2-Lickcreek Speedway (5-1)-Was handled conservatively in its season debut. This team Kennedy entry paced the 2nd half in .56 with a .27 last quarter. This is another who can trip out and should offer a fair price.
5-Wizzel Stix (10-1)-Fits better with this crew and was used hard in last. The trainer is off, and Stewart is between the pipes. Should be in striking range at the top of the lane and could be overlooked at the windows.
8-Go Away N Play (6-1)-Takes a good drop and beat similar here on 11-19. Has hit the board in 2 of 4 starts at CalX with 1 win. Looking for some value in this leg and will fade the program chalk #7.

                              0.20 Pick 4

                              4,5/1,4,7/4,7/1,2,5,8
                              Total Bet=$9.60
