Aqueduct Racetrack, owned by NYRA, is now full swing with its Winter Meet. Though the turf is covered until April, dirt racing is 100% available ... so, this is still one of the tracks that garners mass attention.

At Horseracing.net/us we have you covered, including all of the action! It is a good time for some of the best that North American racing has to offer. Stay tuned!

Most Likely Winner: (Race 7: Wondrwherecraigis #5, 4/5):

There is much to like when it comes to this gelding from the excellent stable of Brittany Russell. She knows how to train, and I expect her to be a superstar in this sport. This son of Munnings really stepped up his game when it comes to class in the Tale of the Cat Stakes back at Saratoga in mid-August. He returned to Laurel Park, Russell’s base, and ended up 2nd in a Grade 3. Not letting that get him down, Russell shipped him to Belmont for the Bold Ruler H. (G3). That turned up roses, and we would expect the trip to Aqueduct to be no different. The Dubb-Madaket axis will employ Luis Saez, and he is as hot as can be. Russell and her team … they win!

        Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #5

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 5: Regal Rebel #10, 10/1):

The MyRacehorse experience keeps rolling, and fans continue to get excited about purchasing individual shares. Criticism was levelled against the process and the outcomes, but the fact of the matter is, it’s good for the game. Here is one of their runners that has some hidden upside. Sure, she ended up far back in her 2 starts so far, but I wouldn’t judge her only on those races. A daughter of Tiznow, she flashed some early speed last out on the turf, and that to me is a good sign, as she moves to the dirt on a cut back. Rob Atras is strong 2nd out, and this one is fit for the MyRacehorse squad. The choice of Manny Franco is a good one, and you know she will be a price, what with M/L odds in the double-digits. Let’s go …

        Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #5 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Dirt, 1 1/8th, Queens County S., $125k, 3+):

If there are not any scratches out of this “BT” race on Sunday at Aqueduct, we might be looking at one of the most “wide-open” contests at this level of racing. There really is not a true “favorite” drawn in, even though Chad Brown’s well-bred gelding by Into Mischief is the “presumptive one.” I do not think Mystic Night #8 is that great an option. Sure, he is owned by Peter Brant and Three Chimneys, plus he will be ridden by ace Jose Ortiz, but he really failed to fire as the odds-on back at Keeneland on 23 October. If you think he is worthy of 5/2, then by-all-means back him … I cannot. I am much more interested in Greg Sacco’s Bal Harbour #7. This gelding by First Samurai is pretty classy based on his PPs, and the addition of Javier Castellano is just what he needs. This barn does not attempt these types of races often, so we shall see how prepared he is to do battle. I was actually impressed with his last race out at Del Mar in the Native Diver (G3); that day he was 16/1, made a 5-wide move, and ended up a respectable 4th. Last but not least, we absolutely cannot overlook Todd Pletcher’s Derby alum, Bourbonic #3. Who could forget his “from the clouds win” in the Wood Memorial (G2)? Since then, the Calumet homebred has not done much at all in the way of being even remotely competitive. We all know that the colt can handle the distance (he has a bevy of route races to his credit), so the time is right for this son of Bernardini to get on track. Let’s put him in a Tri Box, and see if we can get this ticket cashed!

Wagering Recommendation: $2 Trifecta Box, 3/7/8

Celebrated Oaklawn Park is like a college town ... a college town of horse racing, that is ... Hot Springs is not only celebrating the Christmas Season, but also some glorious racing. It should be an absolute blast!

Most Likely Winner: (Race 4: Sapphire Royalty #2, 7/2):

Trainer John Ortiz has a strong Oaklawn stable in Hot Springs, and when he and jockey Ricardo Santana get together, they are looking tough. Asmussen’s loss … is Ortiz’s gain … Here is a filly by Gemologist that looks smart coming in from Churchill Downs. Her claiming record is not stellar in 2021, but that doesn’t mean that things will not turn around coming to this track. What we do know is that she has faced some tough competition under the Twin Spires, and once at Keeneland, so I think that will serve her quite well in this spot. We might be looking at an overlay at 7/2, but I am not optimistic, especially considering that the word is out about this jockey-trainer combo. Let’s play this one to score … anyway!

          Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #2

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 1: News Box #5, 6/1):

Looking for some value on this Sunday card at Oaklawn, I stumbled on this runner from Genaro Garcia’s midst. Even though he does not work with jockey Luis Contreras, the one time they paired together was with this 6-yr-old gelding by Ice Box. On 4 December this experienced entry went 5-wide, and showed some nice energy down the lane. We know he can handle the class, distance, and Garcia’s numbers 2nd off-the-claim are not too shabby. The level of fitness should be sound! What a bet this one will be if he could go off at 6/1 or higher!

          Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #5 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Dirt, 1 Mile, AOC50k, 3+):

There are a pair of good-looking “features” on this Sunday card, but I want to focus on Race 8 because we have the return of a runner that turned some heads about a year ago. On 22 Jan. @OP, Brad Cox’s Caddo River #1, a 3-yr-old colt by Hard Spun, absolutely obliterated the field in the Smarty Jones 150k. The Shortleaf homebred excited the chatter, and it seemed like his route through the Arkansas Derby Series was really going to put his trainer in a spot … what with all of the solid runners in his midst. But then he missed in the Rebel (G2) at a very short price, and people wondered if he was “1-hit-wonder.” A second to Asmussen’s Super Stock in the Arkansas Derby (G1) was more than respectable. He didn’t make KYD147, but did try the Woody Stephens (G1) on the Belmont Stakes undercard. He was well-back … We have not seen him since, and I would think that a “wait-and-see” approach would be best. His works? Well, they are bullets, so there is no question … he knows how to be a racehorse. I will take a shot against him, and instead back a colt by Union Rags that is conditioned by a fellow with the last name of Lukas … aka “Coach.” D. Wayne Lukas is still out there, doing what he knows best … training. It looks like Atoka #7 is logical, and the 4-yr-old takes a class drop that is just what he needs. Luis Contreras gets the call for the 1st time, and could be a breath of fresh air at some odds that could hover around 8/1. We all know that Cox’s talented homebred is going to be over bet … I am not biting. Lukas wins his 1st of this Meet …

          Wagering Recommendation: $2 Exacta Cold, 7 w 1

Rocket Picks : Gulfstream, Oaklawn, and Aqueduct for December 19, 2021

The action continues today as we round out the weekend! For the free pick 4, we will head to Aqueduct once again today, since we continue to have success at that track. There is also great action at Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn as well. Let’s see if we can hit this late pick 4 at Aqueduct!

Below is our free Late Pick 4 for Aqueduct:

            Aqueduct December 19, 2021

            Race 6: Allowance Optional Claiming

#4 Emilias Moon has been running consistently at this level in Kentucky. This might be an easier spot for her today. #5 Maiden Beauty won at the allowance level two starts back, before losing in a tough stakes last time out. She should enjoy this level of competition much better.

            Race 7: Gravesend Stakes
#1 Jaxon Traveler should be tough in this spot with the scratch of the heavy favorite. However, he must catch #6 Chateau, who could be alone on the lead in this spot. He has had trouble finishing races lately, though.

            Race 8: Queens County Stakes

#8 Mystic Night has been facing some tough company lately, even though they were allowance races, but this race looks easier than what he has been facing. #6 Empty Tomb won over this track last time in gate to wire fashion, and looks to be alone on the lead again today.

            Race 9: Maiden Claiming

#2 Viking Zim runs on the dirt for the second straight time today, which should lead to an improved effort. #7 Olivers Fortune nearly won over this track last time out. 10-1 is a solid price, and he can win if he can repeat his last effort.

            THE TICKET
            $.50 Pick 4 (Races 6-9) 1,4,5,6,7 / 1 / 1,3,6,8 / 2,7,10,12,13 – $50

              Today’s Racing Tips – December 19th

There are three meetings in Britain and Ireland on Sunday, with Fakenham and Thurles providing some fascinating jumps action. The quality comes from Ireland, with the mares listed hurdle at 1.40pm sure to attract runners from the top stables for some excellent prize money. All-weather fans have an eight-race card at Kempton to get stuck into, with Unibet sponsoring the card and four competitive handicaps sure to be popular betting heats.

              Angels Landing

              Fakenham, 12:20pm

Ian Williams filly found deep ground all against her at Aintree last time out, but had shaped well previously over hurdles, and these sharp conditions on decent ground should be much more suitable.

              Brown Bullet

              Fakenham, 12:50pm

Andy Irvine’s mare has been outclassed in two warm races at top tracks so far this season, and can take advantage of a huge drop down in class at Fakenham on Sunday. She remains with upside over fences now back in the right company, and the booking of the excellent Page Fuller increases confidence with conditions to suit

Horses in Focus at Aqueduct for Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021

                David Aragona

                RACE 6: EMILIA’S MOON (#4)

Maiden Beauty could go favored here as she drops back down in class after trying tougher company. Her Empire Distaff performance wasn’t quite as bad as the result would indicate, since she chased a fast pace that fell apart while facing a pretty strong field of N.Y.-breds. She’s arguably the horse to beat off her 108 TimeformUS Speed Figure two back, though do note that she was riding a rail bias on that occasion. She now has to deal with the early speed of Finger Lakes shipper Pioneer of the Sky, as well as some others. She’s a major player here, but I wonder if she’ll take too much money off that September performance. Battle Bling and Vegas Weekend may also attract some support going out for dangerous barns. They faced off in a $50k claimer at Saratoga over the summer, when both were entered for turf in a race that was rained off the grass. I find it a little odd that Battle Bling hasn’t improved at all off the claim for Danny Gargan, and this is the first time she’s entered for dirt. Vegas Weekend took advantage of a weak field at this level two back and I think she’s vulnerable here. She exits the Comely, but I prefer Hybrid Eclipse out of that race. She was out of position throughout and can rebound here if getting back to her best efforts from the summer. My top pick is Emilia’s Moon. She's a perfect fit for this race off her efforts two and three back. That Saratoga performance in August was particularly strong, as she was facing a tougher field at this level than the one she meets today. Some will be deterred by that most recent loss as the 3-2 favorite, but note that she veered out badly leaving the gate – essentially taking a right hand turn. She found herself out of position behind a slow pace in a race wired on the front end. I expect her to rebound here, especially if she manages to get back on a fast track.

                RACE 7: DRAFTED (#4)

It was reported earlier this week by Daily Racing Form’s David Grening that morning-line favorite Wondrwherecraigis will be scratched out of this Gravesend due to a foot issue. That opens up a race that had looked pretty straightforward prior to the defection. The pace scenario gets altered with that favorite coming out, but there still figures to be an honest pace up front given the presence of Chateau. This Rob Atras trainee has one way to run, and that’s to blast off to the front end and try to bottom out the field. Jaxon Traveler figures to be chasing and may be the one to inherit the lead if Chateau throws in the towel. They’re the two runners to catch, but there are some intriguing closers who will be trying to chase them down. Majestic Dunhill is a wild card as he returns from a long layoff for George Weaver. This barn doesn’t have great stats off layoffs of this type and Majestic Dunhill can be somewhat unreliable. He did get very good in fall 2020, but that was when Joel Rosario was riding him more aggressively. It’s unclear if he still possesses that same tactical speed. I’m giving a shot to Drafted. I know he hasn’t had any success in his prior stakes attempts, but he’s run deceptively well in a few recent starts. Drafted got caught in significant traffic when he was trying to rally off the layoff on Oct. 1 in a race that he arguably could have won. He was then caught behind a slow pace in the Bold Ruler and again last time in that November optional claimer. He actually ran quite well in that last start, as he closed into those moderate fractions behind the talented Cost Basis. I don’t think this is the strongest field with the favorite out, and Drafted should finally get some pace with Chateau in the mix.

                RACE 8: BACKSIDEOFTHEMOON (#2)

Mystic Night is arguably the horse to beat as he steps up to make his stakes debut in the Queens County. He looked like he was destined for races like this when he won an allowance race here last March, but he hasn’t visited the winner’s circle since then despite going favored in his three subsequent starts. While he’s run reasonably well in those races, I haven’t been thrilled with the way he’s finished. He had dead aim on the leaders in his losses at Belmont and Saratoga and just couldn’t get the job done. I was especially disappointed in his effort two back when he got a great trip sitting just off a slow pace and was nearly passed from behind by the rallying You’re to Blame. He can win here stretching back out, but I didn’t need him at a short price. Empty Tomb scares me as a wire-to-wire threat. This 5-year-old can be pretty unreliable at times, but he got back into top form for Rob Falcone last time, leading all the way going the one-turn mile. That optional claimer came up very fast, but now he has to stretch out. He’s never won going this 1 1/8 miles distance, but he’s run well going this far on a few occasions. I’m not thrilled with the idea of taking him as the second-choice after he was 22-1 last time, but he can obviously win. My top pick is Backsideofthemoon, who is seeking his second consecutive victory in the Queens County. He obviously got a little lucky in this race last year, when he beat the gate at the start and got to control the pace on a gold rail. His form since then has been a little spotty, but he’s recently gotten back into strong form for the Pat Reynolds barn. He ran very well when he nearly beat You’re to Blame at Belmont three back and then lost all chance at the start last time in a race controlled on the front end by Empty Tomb. He’s been successful going 1 1/8 miles before, so I like the stretch-out and Jose Lezcano usually gives him a more aggressive ride than some other jocks. He’s also the sentimental pick as a longtime favorite of mine. This is likely the last race of his career, as he’s about to age out of NYRA competition when he turns 10 in January.

Aqueduct: How to bet the Gravesend and Queens County Stakes on Dec. 19
                    John Mucciolo

Aqueduct will play host to a pair of stakes races on their Sunday card.
                    Race 7 – Gravesend S.

A compact field of five will dash three-quarters of a mile in the first black-type test of the afternoon. Grade 2 winner #2 Majestic Dunhill (5-1) makes his first appearance since February and gets top billing while coming in fresh for George Weaver. The dark bay son of Majesticperfection lands in a spot where the pace of the race will be swift, and the one-run closer can capitalize from well off of the early tempo in the small field.

The Kentucky-bred dark bay has been training steadily since September for a solid layoff conditioner, and I expect him to receive a great set up in the heat with Manny Franco in the silks.
                    Wagers

                    $40 win #2 Majestic Dunhill ($40)

                    Race 8 – Queens County S.

The 1 1/8-mile dirt endeavor features a well-matched field of nine in a potentially good betting race. Defending champ #2 Backsideofthemoon (6-1) is winless in his last nine outings, but I like him to post the upset and defend his title under Lezcano. The nine-year-old son of Malibu Moon owns 15 top-three results on the surface and could shoot to the lead early on in a field lacking a confirmed front runner.

The Patrick Reynolds pupil prepped for Sunday with a smart half-mile move at Belmont Park in his latest morning move. He will be tough to catch with a clean break from the gate.

#8 Mystic Night (5-2) was compromised by a slow pace in a deep allowance tilt at Keeneland most recently, and I think that the Chad Brown trainee will receive a more favorable trip on Sunday. The lightly-raced son of Into Mischief is perfect from a pair of local tries and will be a key for me in the gimmicks. Jose Ortiz has the assignment.

Filly & Mare Sunday: Seoul & Busan Race-By-Race Preview (December 19)

Last Sunday Heat Yegam confirmed his position as Champion three-year-old colt with victory in the Minister’s Cup. This week it’s the turn of the fillies to finish up their Triple Crown. It will be one of Luna Stakes winner Raon Pink or Oaks winner Choegang Black, both of whom return to face each other again in the Gyeonggi Governor’s Cup over 2000M. One race earlier, the older fillies and mares get to run for a big prize in the Jeju Governor’s Cup with Raon First set to be a hot favourite. There are 10 races at Seoul from 10:45 to 18:00 while at Busan there are 7 races from 11:10 to 16:40. All betting locations are open however attendance must be pre-booked using the MyCard app. Here are the previews:

                      Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Juvenile maidens in the opener with all but one racing for the very first time. And among those first-timers there was a stand-out trial performance from (8) JAY PHOENIX. From the widest gate he cruised to the lead and continued that cruise to cross the line a full two-seconds faster than the next home. If he brings that form to the races, he wins. The sole entrant with previous experience came close on debut. After winning a trial (10) BLACK MASK was sent off hot favourite on October 16th but ultimately came home in 2nd place. Nevertheless, it was a quick time, and he comes in after nine weeks off, ready to be in the mix again. Back to the trial videos for the rest and (2) NERWOOLI won his heat in good fashion while there were also encouraging performances from (7) BURUI SINHWA and (11) HAPPY MIX.
Selections (8) Jay Phoenix (10) Black Mask (2) Nerwooli (7) Burui Sinhwa

                      Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Juvenile maidens and (9) ILNYEOM CHEONHA will be favourite. Having run well in a trial, he was 2nd on debut on November 21st at this distance, overcoming a slightly sluggish start to run on well. It was a fair time and faster than any of the others recorded on their respective debuts and he is the one to beat. (7) RAON THE FIGHTING also ran 3rd on debut on November 19th. He sat behind the pace and ran on pleasingly enough and should have come on for the run. There are three first time starters and the one which will attract the most interest is (5) GEUMA UNO. He was an on-pace 2nd in his heat in a fair time and the Kim Young-kwan/You Hyun-myung connection will ensure he is well backed first-up. (6) ALL CROWN and (10) PLAY THE INDY both hinted on debut that they have some potential and can also be in the mix for minor money.
Selections (9) Ilnyeom Cheonha (7) Raon The Fighting (5) Geuma Uno (6) All Crown

                      Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

Filly maidens only here and it could be a chance for (6) DELPHINI to get her first win. She returned from six months out to run a pleasing 3rd over this distance in a similar race on November 21st, running on as is her style. From a nice central draw and with Munro aboard, there isn’t too much to fear here. Vying with her for favourite status will be (8) GALSAEK HYANGGI. She’s shown improvement over three outings to date, culminating in 3rd place on her first try over today’s trip on November 20th when she went back and ran on strong. She’ll be in the finish again. (1) FLEX QUEEN recorded her best finish to date at her latest start when 2nd over this distance. She led that day and from the same inside gate today will surely aim to do the same. (7) EAST MAGIC and (5) WONDERFUL NIKIYA are among a few others with at least placing chances.
Selections (6) Delphini (8) Galsaek Hyanggi (1) Flex Queen (7) East Magic

                      Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

Tricky race. (5) DAEHO NURI has finished no better than 5th in four attempts so far but he has run the kind of times that ought to be competitive here. From a good draw, he can sit handy and run on and this could be his day. (8) ALIVE STAR returns to action for the first time since May. He is the only previous winner in the field and while being first-up in thirty-two weeks is obviously going to pose some questions, he looked well enough when running 3rd in a late November trial. If he is at his best, he can win this. (3) ARTIE’S GAL races for the first time in even longer. His best result was a 3rd place on debut at this distance in a slow race more than a year ago, but he won a trial in November leading all the way, has a good draw and a featherweight to carry. (14) GREEN SPEED has already finished as runner-up at this distance. She led for much of that race so may need a touch of luck early from the widest gate, but she can be considered. (2) DOCTOR TANGO another placing chance.
Selections (5) Daeho Nuri (8) Alive Star (3) Artie’s Gal (14) Green Speed
                      Next Best 2, 6

                      Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1700M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

                      (5) SAENAE HWANGJE showed improvement when stepped up to two-turns for the first time on November 14th, settling handy and running on for 2nd place. The time wasn’t fast, but he won’t need to go much faster to win this. (7) VIVA CHAMPION comes up to this trip for the first time after a couple of creditable performances at shorter. He has run on well in his latest two and if he does the same today will run into some money. (10) RUNNING NUMBER ONE overcame a wide draw to finish 3rd in a plodding affair at this distance on November 27th. That’s two places in his last three starts, both coming at this distance, and he should be in the finish again. (3) SEMYEONG CAPTAIN was 5th behind Running Number One at his latest outing and can aim to match or better today. (1) ONE PUTT always three-putts the start but usually runs on and should pass plenty in a race where a double-bogey will be enough to get on the leaderboard.
Selections (5) Saenae Hwangje (7) Viva Champion (10) Running Number One (3) Semyeong Captain
                      Next Best 1, 2

                      Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

                      (3) ADELE BOSS steps up in trip following a 3rd and a 5th in his latest two at 1000M and 1200M respectively. The latter time he had to deal with gate fourteen and wasn’t able to find a decent position whereas today, from a much better draw he can use his good start to get away well. He has claims. So too does (9) ONE RUSH, who has raced just twice but has a 5th and a 3rd with the latter being at this distance in a good time. She sat midfield and ran on that day and while she still draws wide, in the smaller field, should be able to find a position early and run on again. (1) DAEJI SPECIAL ran into 3rd place at 1000M at his latest start. Although a previous try at 1200M didn’t go especially well, from a nice draw he can be considered for improvement here. (6) YEONSEUNG GLORY improved to 2nd at his most recent start over this distance and along with (5) MONEY BAG, warrants consideration for a place.
Selections (3) Adele Boss (9) One Rush (1) Daeji Special (6) Yeonseung Glory
                      Next Best 5, 2

                      Seoul Race 4: Class 4 (1700M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

                      (8) CHEONGDAM TANK looks ready to win here. She has just the one solitary success so far, along with no fewer than five runner-up finishes from his thirteen starts but comes in off a good 3rd place in competitive class and distance race on November 21st. She is likely to be on or near the pace here and is the one to beat. Should she find one too quick again then it may well be (6) JOYFUL K. She tackles two turns for the first time having shown good form in her latest three over 1400M at this class. She has a good start on her and may well be setting the pace. (4) TK DAY has loads of experience at this class and while he doesn’t look a winning chance should be competitive for a place. On paper (1) YUJEONG CHAMPS’s latest three efforts look underwhelming but one of them was the Cup Mile. This is the most amenable company he has faced in some time, and he should improve. (7) A.P. PATEK mixes his form but has won at this class over 1400M and placed at today’s distance.
Selections (8) Cheongdam Tank (6) Joyful K (4) TK Day (1) Yujeong Champ
                      Next Best 7, 10

                      Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

                      (12) MILLION BANK draws wide but still looks very much the one to beat here. She has a win and two runner-up finishes from three outings so far. She ran on for 2nd at this class over 1200M on her latest start behind Adele Rosario and she should be too good here. (7) UNJU EUTTEUM was a good winner at class 6 level back in October. At her latest start she had a hard time from a wide gate but can be given another chance here. (11) DAEHOMA comes in following back-to-back runner-up finished over 1400M. He comes up in class this time but can measure up. (5) BANJIUI GIJEOK was disappointing at her latest start when she struggled from out wide but from a much better draw can get closer this time. (2) TRIPLE STORM had a hard time when tried over 1800M on his first effort at this class on November 19th. His running style had suggested it may suit, but he should be more comfortable today
Selections (12) Million Bank (7) Unju Eutteum (11) Daehoma (5) Banjiui Gijeok

Competitive race. (4) RULES CLASS comes in off two consecutive 3rd place finishes, both times beating rivals he faces again today. He comes up slightly in the weights but that is offset by a better draw, and he could well be winning this. (3) YONGHOJIMA comes up in class following back-to-back 2nd place finished over 1000M. He is up in trip too, but he ran through the line well both times and can measure up here. (8) MAGIC TIDE comes back in trip after two creditable efforts over 1400M. She is yet to win but her best results have come at this distance, and she has a strong finish on her so should be doing her best work late on here. (6) OLD BLADE returned to action a couple of weeks ago following over five months out. She could only manage 7th but it was a decent loosener and she can improve here. (5) PERFECT POWER another with placing claims.

A very competitive race. We’ll take a chance on (8) AFLEET TAPIT to follow up his maiden victory, which came over 1400M on November 19th when he went back and ran on strong. He comes up in the weights, but the distance should suit, and he can win again. (3) NEW LUX could only manage 3rd when sent off as favourite in an all-filly race at class and distance on November 7th. She has previously run some very good times over the mile including a 3rd place behind World Change and King Goliath in September and she should be in the mix here. (2) DOCTOR TEXAS comes up in trip after a fast 3rd over 1400M a month ago when he led for most of the way around. He draws nicely and should be on pace again and in this a long way. (6) K K WON has run consistently well at this distance and once more has a light weight with an apprentice taking 4kg off his back. (11) WONDERFUL WORLD was a winner at this distance at class 6 level two starts back before pulling off a great run to beat plenty of these when 2nd on November 26th. He warrants more respect this time.

                      (1) BYEOLUI SUNGAN was a winner at this class over 1300M on November 6th when he overcame a wide gate to sit handy and then run on to win comfortably. HE comes up in the weights and marginally in trip too, but he gets a much better draw, and he is favoured to win again. (6) JANGSAN GUARD is yet to win in eight attempts but has finished in 2nd place on no fewer than four occasions, including his latest two, both at this class over 1200M. He’ll be on pace here but may have to settle for another runner-up finish. (3) MENIFEE MUSIC has a 4th and a 2nd in two attempts at this class, both at this distance. She draws nicely, carries a light weight and is very much in this. (9) BEST TAP has the fastest time of any of these at this distance and along with last start class and distance winner but up in weight and drawn unluckily (13) HOLIDAY CHARM.

This is a competitive race. This is a big step up for (4) WONDERFUL FAGER in terms of both class and distance but he has looked very assured in two starts back from five months out with wins at 1200M and 1600M, both in fast times. He has raced on pace in both and while this is a big ask, he may be equal to it. (7) CLEAN SHOT remains a maiden after ten attempts but is extremely proficient at this distance with a 2nd and a 4th from his latest two both at this class. He tends to settle midfield or further back and then runs on strong, and he has a real chance here. (1) JEONGSU SIDAE also has plenty of good experience at this class and distance and enters in consistent form with a 4th and two 3rds from his latest three. He draws the inside here and gets a 4kg allowance from his apprentice jockey. (8) STAR EYE returns from six months off and while he didn’t offer many clues in a November trial, has plenty of quality and along with (2) BUCATINI is another to consider for the money.

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (1400M) Jeju Governor’s Cup (KOR-G3) Allowance / KRW 350 Million

Fillies and mare get to go for a big prize over one-turn. (8) RAON FIRST is the likely and justified favorite here. She is a class 1 winner at this distance and has consistently run quick times. She normally leads in her races but last time out on October 17th she sat midfield and then ran on. She will be very hard to beat here. We’ll take a chance on (3) YEONHUI ILCHUL who should be a big price. It’s her first try among the elite but she has been running great times over 1200M. This is her first try at 1400M, she prefers to race close to the pace and is assisted by a nice draw. (6) CLEAR GEOM has established herself as a solid class 1 campaigner and comes back in trip here. She too draws well; she ran 3rd in the race last year and she should be in the mix again. (16) WISH ME won this race last year as a three-year-old but then had 10 months off before a terrific win when resuming in class 3 company over 1200M on October 10th. She isn’t assisted by todays draw but she warrants some respect. (15) LUISA could be another widely drawn one to go well at odds.

                      (10) DOMINATION is the banker favourite of the day. He has won six out of seven so far and is a perfect three for three since returning from seven months out in October. He is up in class and significantly back in trip from his latest win over 1800M, but he carries next to nothing and despite the wide draw, should be seeing this lot off. (7) AKER’S DREAM comes back in trip to the 1200M, a distance at which he has registered some excellent times and he would appear the most credible danger to the favourite. (5) SONIC KING IJI is consistent and enters off a very good 4th in a hard race over 1400M a month ago. He draws well here and should be in the mix. (3) QUEEN OF THE WORLD is up in class and down in weight following a good victory over 1400M when she sat handy and ran on strong. She along with (6) TOP DAY are other placing chances.

The final leg of the filly Triple Crown. (1) RAON PINK blitzed the field over a mile in the Luna Stakes before putting in a super run when 2nd in the Oaks when badly away then settling wide and racing a keenly. She made up ground to be on terms at the 300M but perhaps felt the extent of her efforts at the finish. She draws well here and if she has anything even approaching normal luck this time, can win. (3) SERVE ACE put in an almighty run to be 3rd in the Oaks Her jockey all but fell when exiting the gates in the Oaks and she was then a long last but saved ground all the way and re-established contact with the field on the home turn. She stayed on the rails getting stronger and stronger as the race progressed. If she can repeat that effort with a clean getaway then she should be right in this. (6) CHOEGANG BLACK put in a great run to win the Oaks under a masterful ride when settling handy and proving too strong in the straight. The additional distance should be no problem and she has a real chance too. (4) EODIGANA was a handy 5th in the Oaks after a slight stumble at the start then settling midfield. The extra distance may be in her favour. (7) QUEENS TOUR another in the placing frame.

                      (2) VIKING STORM picks himself here having won his latest three in fine style but this isn’t an easy race. He likes to race forward and while up in weight, the draw is good, and he will be favourite. (4) MIGHTY WHO bolted in by four-lengths over 1700M at class 4 level on November 14th. He comes up in class and slightly up in trip here but there is little to suggest that he won’t be competitive in this company. (8) BAEKSAEK GWANGCHAE is in top form having won his last three including his latest which was at class and distance. He comes up in weight today but must be considered. Also up in weight following a last start class and distance win is (12) BOLT MAN, who sat midfield before running on well in a good time. He has consistently raced well at this distance and despite the outside gate, should be in the frame again. (5) CHUNSAN, who returns from five months out, could be an interesting outsider at a decent price.

                      (2) QUICKSILVER KITTEN will be favourite here having yet to run a bad race in six outings. Last time out he ran a good 3rd place at this class over 1200M, drifting back in the field before powering home and the additional furlong should suit today. (3) MIGHTY KICK’s latest start was better than it appeared as he was inconvenienced at the start and then ridden hard to catch up. He may well have benefitted from that experience and while he won’t be among the favourites, might be worth an each-way go. (10) LUCKY YOUNG is still on the improve as well. He has only raced twice but showed more in his second start when 5th behind Quicksilver Kitten. He won’t need to improve too much to be in the mix here. The returning (12) MYEONGJIN DAY and (13) DOLGYEOK APEURO are others in the hunt.

Al Cimaglia: Pompano Park Pick 4 Analysis-$15,000 Guaranteed Pool

                          December 19, 2021 | By Al Cimaglia

The headliners tonight on the 10-race card at Pompano Park are two and three-year-old fillies competing in Florida Breeders Stake Finals. The 0.50 Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $15,000 guaranteed pool with a 12% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

                          Race 6

4-When You Dance (7/2)-This Tee Wine trainee moved up to face straight Open company in last. Couldn't top #6 but that was a good effort against this kind. This 6-year-old has won 5 of 16 at the Pomp, Hennessey is steering again, and he will put him in play.
6-Actor Hanover (7/2)-Comes off 3 big efforts at this class and finally connected for a win in last. Looks like a must use.

                          Race 7

2-Prairie Virtue (5/2)-Braden should have this filly in the pocket behind the one below and look to roll by down the lane. This Florida bred has never missed the board in 12 starts and has 5 pictures. Could offer some value and did beat the morning line choice twice in November.
4-Ifnotmewho (3/5)-This 3-year-old has won 7 of 10 at the Pomp and cashed 2nd place checks in the other 3 starts. Came off a sick scratch and beat #4 by a nose in the slop. Hennessey should be rolling from the jump and looking to make every call a winning one.

                          Race 8

2-Prairie Panther (2-1)-Boyd picks #5 so Hennessey gets the call and does drop to a better spot for success. Can take an overdue picture with the right trip.
4-Aged Cheddar Hanover (5-1)-Steps-up and will need best to win at this class but did roll the back-half in 54.2 last week. Probably will be bet down off the morning line as replay watchers will be impressed with the wide trip. Should be in the hunt but might be over bet.
5-Alluneedisfaith N (5/2)-Yonkers invader has been facing tough foes and the Art Major 7-year-old will make its Pompano debut. Went on Lasix for one start but qualified here without it. Should be a main player if close to 100%.

                          Race 9

1-Warrawee Veloce (4-1)-Raced from the back in last and had to go wide when cover stalled. The important elements tonight is the drop to face Open III foes and post relief. Fits better with this kind and should benefit from the rail. This should be the time for a big try.
2-Lincolnjames (5/2)-Left from past 8 at this level in last but pulled up and dropped in 4th. No one was beating Busboy Hanover, and Hennessey drove a smart race to cash a 2nd place check closing along the pylons. Tonight, the plan could be to leave and get on the point or in the pocket behind the one above.

                          0.50 Pick 4

                          4,6/2,4/2,4,5/1,2
                          Total Bet=$12

GULFSTREAM PARK - THIRD RACE (Post time: 1:26 ET)

This maiden $50,000 optional claiming sprint for older fillies and mares allows Florida-bred runners to enter without being risked for a tag and taking full advantage of that condition is the first-time starter, Evelyn. The Arindel homebred finally makes it to the post very late in her three-year-old season but has done plenty of good work in the a.m. to indicate she’s fit, ready, and talented enough to be a a major player in this six-runner affair. Drawn comfortably outside, the daughter of Distorted Humor from the good sprinting mare Do Somethin breezed five furlongs in 1:00 4/5 seconds under a stout hold while proving best in a team gate work 10 days ago over the Gulfstream Park main track and finished with plenty left. In a field in which the known element looks modest, let’s go with the newcomer in the win pool and in the various rolling exotics and hope to get close to her morning line of 7/2.

                            *

GULFSTREAM PARK – SIXTH RACE (Post time: 2:55 ET)

Trainer Todd Pletcher has been blistering hot during the month of December at Gulfstream Park and will be expected to add to his win total in this maiden juvenile filly event over seven furlongs on the main track. Listed at 2-1 on the morning line and likely to go lower, Greatitude outran her 7-1 odds from the rail when finishing third (beaten a neck) in her debut in the mud at Aqueduct last month while earning a Beyer speed figure that is five points better than par for this race. Additionally, the runner-up in the race (Mischievous Diane) returned to graduate easily at the Big A eight days ago to frank the form. Any kind of forward move today – or if she just runs the same race – will make her difficult to beat. Three easy breezes at Palm Beach Downs since arriving in Florida merely adds fuel to the fire.

If you’re looking for an exacta partner or a chance at a price in the win pool, give some consideration to Friendship Road, a homebred first-timer by Quality Road. The Shug McGaughey-trained filly hasn’t produced any fancy times in her morning drills but she’s a good mover with plenty of power and could easily be better than her work tab might lead one to believe. Listed at 6-1 on the morning line but likely to go higher, she figures to be doing her best work from the quarter pole home.

Jerry Shottenkirk: My Late Pick 4 Ticket Sunday at Gulfstream

                              December 19, 2021 | By Jerry Shottenkirk

Gulfstream Park’s Late Pick 4 Sunday brings out a different strategy this week, featuring a blend of the ALL button along with a single.

The first two races in the sequence (races 7-10) are free-for-all engagements that would are strong challenges when it comes to picking out just one for two in each.

The single is in the 10th race, as Todd Pletcher trainee Gooch Go Bragh takes on maidens going a mile and 70 yards over the all-weather surface. He was fourth in the G3 With Anticipation on turf at Saratoga, and his talents likely will transfer to this surface in good order. He opened his career with a runner-up finish, also at Saratoga.

The feature race of the day comes in the ninth, where Bemma’s Boy takes on allowance optional claiming company. The 6-year-old Into Mischief gelding makes his first start since his victory in the G2 Pan American Stakes over this course in 2020. Perhaps the biggest challenge for the Mike Maker trainee is the distance as he’s more accustomed to routes. He’s gone 1.5 miles in three of his last four races and will be asked to tune up his late run earlier as he’s faced with a mile.

The suggested ticket amounts to $56, and here’s a look at the cast:

                              7th Race (3:25 p.m. ET, claiming)

HANNITA’S EMPIRE takes a step up from bottom maiden claimers, but in breaking her maiden won by 9.5 lengths. She takes a step up to non-winners of two in a race in which past performances of these runners look about the same.

She has speed and should benefit from the inside post.

Also on the ticket: ALL OTHERS.

                              8th Race (3:55 p.m. ET, claiming)

POCO CHARLIE takes a step up in class and comes in off a third-place finish in a fast race over the all-weather. He stays on the polytrack and won over the surface three races back. It’s a wide-open race and he should be a decent price.
Also on the ticket: ALL OTHERS.

9th Race (4:28 p.m. ET, allowance optional claiming)

BEMMA’S BOY has had a long vacation but has plenty of works to his credit. The class edge he has could surface in the drive to the wire.

Also on the ticket: TELEPHONE TALKER.

10th Race (5:02 p.m. ET, maiden special weights)

                              GOOD GO BRAGH

Also on the ticket: None. Single.

Gulfstream Park 50-cent Late Pick 4:
                              7) ALL (7 horses)
                              8) ALL (8 horses)
                              9) #7 Telephone Talker, #9 Bemma’s Boy.
                              10) #9 Gooch Go Bragh.
The ticket: ALL (7 horses) with ALL (8 horses) with 7-9 with 9 ($56)
