          NCAA-B | San Francisco vs Loyola-Chicago
Play on: San Francisco +3 -115 at BetVegas

FREE PICK: San Francisco Dons +3
          RATING: 30*
          ROT#: 837
I typically like to stick to the Power 6 conferences, but this is a game that really caught my eye. These are two teams that a lot of people don't know about, but will likely be teams everyone is talking about come March.
San Francisco is 13-1 and are currently the No. 34 ranked team in the country at KenPom. Loyola-Chicago is 9-2 and ranked No. 21 with their two losses being a 2-point loss to Michigan State on a neutral and a 9-point loss on a neutral to Auburn (day after loss to Spartans).
These two weren't scheduled to play when the original schedules were made. Because of how Covid has impacted games, these two agreed to play out of the blue just to get on the floor.
I will say that the Ramblers do have the more impressive resume and if all things were equal, I would probably be laying the short number with them.
That's just it. They aren't equal. Loyola-Chicago hasn't played a game in almost a month. Last time they were on the floor was at Vanderbilt back on Dec. 10. It was pretty evident last year that teams struggled to play well coming off a long break (I consider a longer than normal break anything that hits the 2.5 to 3 week mark.
For those wondering, the Dons have played 5 games since the Ramblers last took the court. This is also a neutral site game, that's being played on a junior college court in the middle of the day. I think that only makes it harder for Loyola-Chicago to shake off the rust. Give me the Dons +3!

            Race 1: 6-2-1-4
            Race 2: 5-6-3-4
            Race 3: 6-1/1A-3-4
            Race 4: 7-4-1-3
            Race 5: 2-6-3-8
            Race 6: 2-4-1-6
            Race 7: 5-1/1A-3-4
            Race 8: 4-8-3-5
**Most Likely Winner: Suspended Campaign #2 (Race 6)**
**Best Value: Just Read It #5 (Race 7)**

NYRA’s Aqueduct Racetrack is now full swing, and its Winter Meet is rolling. Though the turf is covered until April, dirt racing is 100% available ... so, this is still one of the tracks that garners mass attention.

At Horseracing.net/us we have you covered, including all of the action! It is a good time for some of the best that North American racing has to offer. Stay tuned!

If you're looking for picks elsewhere around the country this Thursday be sure to check out our free Horse Racing Picks via the gold button below. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter ... Horseracing_USA !!!

            Tvg Sitetakeover 992x300

Most Likely Winner: (Race 6: Suspended Campaign #2, 9/5):

Right now, Jose Ortiz is riding in a strong manner, and he seems to be securing some strong mounts. This filly by Honor Code is not only well-bred, but she has a consistent record of success for the Duggan Barn. After a miss last time at Aqueduct in a Starter ALLW Co. contest, she returns to the scene looking to get back on top. I would expect this to happen, and maybe … just maybe … her odds will be above 9/5. Maybe we can get 5/2! That would be excellent! Tote watch … underway!

            Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #2

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 8: Know It All Audrey #4, 8/1):

This Shackleford filly had trouble right out of the gate last time at Aqueduct, and still made up ground to finish 4th in a MSW70k race last time. In the mud too … The Toscano Barn has a good one on their hands, and they are going with Eric Cancel once again in the irons. Her price of 8/1 is pretty square, and she has the ability to take a step forward in this 1-turn affair. I would not say that there is a ton of speed signed on here, so it will be interesting to see if Cancel makes the call to turn his mount loose early. Should be a good bet, as far as I am concerned.

            Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #4 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

            Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 7: Dirt, 6½F, AOC62.5k, F&M 4+):

The “feature” on this Thursday card is a tough AOC Co. contest that pits a salty crew against one another. Bettors will certainly be enticed to back the coupled entry of Spun d’Etat #1 and Shesalittle Edgy #1A. Don’t get me wrong, both have some interesting class lines, and I am sure they will be well-backed. The latter has oodles of ALLW/AOC cred, so making a case for this Scott Lake character is fairly simple. I am going to play against them, and instead going to promote the virtues of Ray Handal’s Just Read It #5. This well-bred filly by Constitution was up against it last time out in the Garland of Roses 100k at the “Big A.” Her odds told the story (21/1), and the finish did too … 7th, 11-lengths back. That wasn’t her day, but she still has some advantages at the ready. This is her 3rd start in the cycle, and let’s not forget that she has a pair of wins over this track. Her price will be right around 6/1, and the addition of Jose Lezcano, who is riding at a nice clip, looks to be a great move by this barn. She will appreciate the class drop, and with that tactical ability of hers, she should be able to sit a good trip. Let’s call this ice cold … an Exacta!

            Wagering Recommendation: $2 Exacta Cold, 5 w 1/1A

Rocket Picks : Gulfstream Park and Aqueduct Downs for January 6, 2022

The action rolls on with a new week! For the free pick 4, we will head to Aqueduct today, which has another good Thursday card. We will also be covering Gulfstream Park today for the paid Rockets, so be sure to check those out. Let’s kick off the week in a good way!

Below is our free Late Pick 4 for Aqueduct:

              Aqueduct January 6, 2022

              Race 5: Maiden Claiming

#2 Incontrovertible gets Jose Ortiz aboard for the second straight race today after finishing second at this level last time out. #6 Exfiltration gets back to the dirt for this race, and also drops down in class for this event, which should make her tough to beat.

              Race 6: Starter Allowance
              freestar

#4 Alpine Queen was a winner against weaker last time out over this track and also at this distance. #1 Chloe Rose was second last time out at this level, losing by a half-length. She should be very competitive again today.

              Race 7: Allowance Optional Claiming

#3 Patty H will run first off the claim for Dutrow in this spot, who has been red hot lately. She won in gate to wire fashion against allowance company last time out. #4 Trinni Luck drops down in class to allowance company again today after running poorly against stakes company in her last two starts.

              Race 8: Maiden Special Weight

#9 Mama Said No moves to the barn of Dutrow today, which could lead to improvement, and makes her one to watch at a nice price. #5 Rcaptivating was second in her dirt debut last time out, and should improve with this being her second start on the dirt.

                  Keep Henry on side

The penultimate race at Gulfstream Park is a $54,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest over five furlongs on the turf surface and Henry’s World, who has been in good form in recent months, can win this for Gilberto Zerpa and his team.

This gelded son of Soldat has finished in the first three in thirteen of his twenty one starts to date, with his six victories being here at Gulfstream Park or Gulfstream Park West, while he recorded his best speed figure back in September, so it looks as though he is improving as he gets older which certainly bodes well coming into this.

Now in his fifth year, he’s won three of his last five starts, with one of those being a convincing wire-to-wire victory over this course and distance back in August before a dominant Starter Allowance win here in October, both of which were easy on the eye.

To summarise, if this gelding can get across from stall seven and into the lead early on under Emisael Jaramillo then his rivals will have their work cut out to catch him, as he is at his best when able to dominate.

                  She’s a darling

Fernando Abreu’s filly Mon Petit Chou is lightly raced for a four-year-old, as she’s only had six lifetime starts to date, but the general feeling is that we haven’t seen the best of her yet and she can go well in this $62,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event at Gulfstream Park, Race 8.

She began her career with a fourth-place finish in a Maiden Special Weight before improving on that when winning at the second time of asking, which was a battling three quarters of a length victory over Dem A Wonder over an extended five furlongs at this course.

That was back in August 2020 and she returned after a good few months off the track to record back-to-back victories in an Allowance and an Allowance Optional Claimer at this course, but she hasn't been seen on the track since June, but if connections have her fired up for this then she could triumph from a good inside draw in a race that looks winnable for her.

                  Newcomer set to shine?

Race 10 at Gulfstream Park is the final race on the card and this is an open looking $32,000 Maiden Claiming contest over an extended five furlongs and the newcomer My Brother Mike can go well at a price.

He’s a son of Neolithic, who won here as a two-year-old, and he has a good draw in stall four so it would not surprise should he give a good account of himself on debut.

Low multi-race takeout featured as Sam Houston opens Jan. 6
                      Vance Hanson

Sam Houston kicks off its 50-day Thoroughbred meet Thursday evening with plenty that bettors across the country will find attractive.

The track has become an increasingly popular wintertime signal. Average daily handle during the 2021 Thoroughbred meet was more than $2.4 million, roughly 33 percent higher than in 2020.

Sam Houston also has one of the few turf courses in operation during the first quarter of the year, so fans of grass racing will appreciate the additional wagering opportunities.

The biggest draw of all is Sam Houston's 12 percent takeout rate on all multi-race wagers (i.e. doubles, Pick 3s, Pick 4s, Pick 5s, etc.). For the average fan clamoring for lower bites industry-wide - it's usually in the 15-25% range - it would be self-defeating not to respond favorably by supporting a track offering them, at least once in a while.

We'll do just that by tackling the first of the 50-cent Pick 4s on the 10-race card, which begins in Race 2.
                      Race 2

If #3 Hush Hush (9-5) improves even modestly off her debut at Turfway Park last month, she'll prove the horse to beat. However, a couple rivals might improve dropping in class.

#5 Izanami (3-1) was no factor in an open maiden special weight at Remington first out, but that was a tough race with two next-out winners among the top three. She also adds Lasix for her second start. Another to watch for is #6 Bering's Special (4-1), whose debut against Oklahoma-breds was one of the better efforts turned in by anyone in this field.
                      Race 3

Stakes-placed #3 Expect the Boss (9-5) figures tough in this spot for the Asmussen stable, though she'll have to overcome the effects of a six-month layoff. #8 Amazonian Queen (6-1), a first-time starter, enters with a mildly intriguing worktab for a horse of this caliber. Both her sire and dam were competitive on debut.
                      Race 4

#8 Queen of the Lane might be a heavy favorite here, but the class drop off her latest looks a tad negative. We'll instead go with #1 Flew by You (10-1), whose early foot could prove more effective cutting back from a pair of route races. #4 Math Mystery (7-2), a recent blowout maiden winner for a $15,000 tag, doesn't look out of place in a field largely composed of N2L lifers.
                      Race 5

The feature on the card is this first-level allowance for three-year-olds on the turf. #6 Revenir (5-2), a close second in his lone prior turf appearance in late September, is the class of the field as he drops from a pair of lucrative stakes attempts at Remington.

The other I'll use is #2 King Jingaling (10-1), who has some hidden turf influences on both sides of his pedigree. His Travers (G1)-winning sire, V. E. Day, won on the grass, too, and hails from the family of turf champ Sunshine Forever and Grade 1 winner Two Emmys, among others.

                      The 50-cent ticket:

                      3, 5, 6 with 3, 8 with 1, 4 with 2, 6 = $12

                            Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

                            Fair Grounds - Race #1
                            Picks Notes
#7 Nice Star I typically don't like these mile races very much, but this guy has some stretchout pace in a race without a ton of speed, and this trip can play favorably to forward players. Scores from right up on the splits?
#2 More Harder He gets down in class after stepping up while making her local debut after some cheaper tries at Woodbine. He's probably a better fit here, and wasn't awful in that one route try in Canada. Maybe.
#8 Johnny Bootlegs He'll move around two turns while dropping hard in class for this off the special weight debut, and he won't have to be a route star to land this. Capable player for a barn that has had a decent enough start to the meet.
Race Summary Nice Star meets a couple of capable droppers in here, but he proved a good fit at this level last time out when sprinting, and she should be able to work out the right kind of trip to get home in the short stretch.

                            Fair Grounds - Race #6
                            Picks Notes
#6 Who Took the Money Think this guy is going to be tough with anything similar to his Champions Day Turf win, and there seems to be enough pace in here to give him a right to run these down late.
#3 Get Them Justin He's a bit on the cheap side for this group, but he has the style that suggests he will have a go of things in the early stages. If anyone were to shake loose, it might be this guy. Price player with the chalk?
#2 Budro Talking He's a really reliable turfer, but he was no match for the top choice in that stakes try when they met last month. He doesn't have any real tactical edge on that guy, so he might need a misfire there to turn the tables.
Race Summary Who Took the Money rolled past late when scoring on Champions Day, and he probably has this group pretty well measured if he's just able to some close to holding form here.

                            Fair Grounds - Race #8
                            Picks Notes
#2 Flatter Me Silly She'll take that tough rise out of maiden company after getting put up via DQ last out, but she has some finishing ability in a race where the pace may end up contested. Think her style fits the flow here at what might be a mid-range price.
#9 Salvaje She was sharp when landing a debut maiden win here last season, and she tried stakes company at Keeneland when last seen in the spring. Think there is a bit of quality here, and she fired fresh in the debut, so the hope is she's coming back running.
#8 Karalinka Think she has some intrigue here at a price after finishing with a little bit of energy last out, and she can certainly pass some horses late for a piece of this if the pace does get a bit heated in the early going.
Race Summary Flatter Me Silly has shown an affinity for running from off the pace through three starts, and she draws well to settle back and save some ground into the turn. There is presumably some upside here in the second start off the layoff, too.

                              The Meadows - Race #1

#2 SWEETLIES N ALIBIS -- North #2 SWEETLIES N ALIBIS -- Northfield invader seeks third in row, can rate if needed, price attached.
#4 VICTORIANA -- Came up short #4 VICTORIANA -- Came up short twice as the favorite before breaking stride in latest.
#1 TANZANITE TRIXX -- Followed #1 TANZANITE TRIXX -- Followed move of winning favorite, finished third, moves inside.
Race Summary Sweetlies N Alibis led at every call in her last two starts at Northfield Park and should sit no worse than second today. She fits the conditions well and is worth a shot at 7-1 on the morning line. Play 2-1 and 2-4 exactas.

                              Dover Downs - Race #1
                              Picks Notes
#2 BOILER MAKER Rode rail, some late foot as race timed in 1:51.
#4 ROCKIN THE BLAZE Paced evenly from second tier, could take some catching.
#1 TARKIO Four of last five races were decided by a nose or a head.
Race Summary Boiler Maker, unhurried in fifth until the 3/4-mile mark, gained some with a rail run and finished willingly between rivals in a fast heat. Bet on him to win and place.

                              Dover Downs - Race #3
                              Picks Notes
#1 BODEGA BAY Going well of late, starts from rail, today's Best Bet.
#8 U S CAPTAIN Speed to overcome post 8 in repeat try at this level.
#7 CAN WE DANCE Class drop could be the answer, use in all gimmicks.
Race Summary Bodega Bay sustained a second-over rally to win going away two starts back and raced well again last week on the class rise. He simply couldn't reach the 1-to-5 winner at this level. Play a 1/7,8/ALL trifecta.
