Pinnacle——SMU The oddsmakers tend to overvalue Memphis when they play at home. The Tigers are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. It seems to many that Memphis can spring to life and perform at a near-elite level on any occasion. The Tigers' 9-7 mark shows good wins, offensive explosions and plenty of positive attributes. However, despite the program's instructional talent, turnovers and inconsistent play have kept Memphis from satisfying preseason hype. Conversely, after winning 10-of-11 recently, Southern Methodist has become a consistency pillar among CBB's evolving landscape. I think the Mustangs, paced by pro-level PG Kendric Davis, are a bit much for the Tigers in all areas. Frankly, Memphis' 5-10-1 ATS record has also soured many; mainly from their reckless play and lack of discipline. However, on Memphis' floor, where the Tigers are more likely to control pace, I'll pick an offensively centered game over a point-stopping battle. The Tigers average 77.0 points per game. SMU adds 76.9 points per game. Each side shoots the three well & offers rim protection. SMU should get a few extra possessions as the better rebounding group & because Memphis leads the nation in turnovers. Pick SMU to notch another ATS win.
