#6 Flipping Fish Makes a good run for third last out and stakes a step up in class; one to watch late.

Fair Grounds Race Course Selections for January 27, 2022 – Horse Racing Picks

BetOnline is offering eight racecourses for wagering on Thursday afternoon and evening. The most notable tracks on the card are at Aqueduct Racetrack and Fair Grounds Race Course. On the weekend, all eyes will be looking at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.

The second race at Fair Grounds covers 1 1/16 miles on the turf for a $46,000 purse. La Gioiosa and English Treasure should be tough customers in Race 2.

La Gioiosa is winless in nine attempts, with probably her best chance of ending the losing streak today. After going 2nd, 5th, 2nd, 10th in her native country France, La Gioiosa was shipped overseas to the US.

In her most recent attempt, La Gioiosa placed 2nd behind Hana Road by 1 ¾ lengths for a $40,000 purse on December 3. This was following 9th on September 4 at Del Mar in a $70,000 race.

The class drop helped put her on the map. This should be a good spot for her, though English Treasure should have good traction for a win.

English Treasure is going to have a big chance of getting it done. She has finished 3rd, 2nd in two races, showing 3rd on September 4 for a $51,000 purse.

In her next race, English Treasure placed 2nd behind Flanigan’s Cove by a half-length in an $84,000 event. That was tremendous form to put English Treasure in top contention. Look for her to do it again, this with a winning performance.

Race 3 covers 6 furlongs on the dirt for an $18,000 purse. Rockin Sunday and Commercial Flash are big contenders to win the most money in Race 3.

Commercial Flash is 2 for 17 in her career with a decent chance of getting in today. The mare has finished 7th, 3rd, 1st in her previous three attempts.

She is coming off a half-length win over Ronnie’s Peso for a $16,000 prize on December 3. This was after showing 3rd on September 16 in a $12,000 assignment.

Rockin Sunday is a two-time winner with the best chance of securing a win on Wednesday. She has finished 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 5th in her last four races.

Four races back on May 14, Rockin Sunday came through with a $23,000 win by 2 ½ lengths. That was a solid go, following up finishing 3rd, 2nd, 5th.

Two outings back, Rockin Sunday placed 2nd behind Carondelet by 2 ¾ lengths for a $24,000 purse. In her latest, she finished 5th for a $19,000 purse on December 17.

That was disappointing, but if Rockin Sunday gets back to how she’s capable of running in prior form, expect the No. 6 to be a tough contender.

Race 5 is a $17,000 event on the dirt covering 5 ½ furlongs. Expect Enchanted Moon and Fluffpoint to have success in the stretch run if the field shakes out currently.

Enchanted Moon has finished 7th, 6th, 8th in three career attempts. In his most recent outing, Enchanted Moon finished 7th for a $22,000 purse on September 12.

He went 6th in a $40,000 purse on December 14 and then came back in another disappointing attempt on January 6. Enchanted Moon finished 8th in a $40,000 purse on January 6.

It’s time for a class drop to $17,000 on Thursday. Fluffpoint might be too tough to beat, though. He is winless in six attempts, coming off a solid go December 18.

Fluffpoint placed 2nd behind Grand Priority by ¾ lengths for an $18,000 purse in that one. That form should be sufficient versus a shaky field in Race 5.

I think about ROCKIN SUNDAY here. Has formidable Equibase Speed Figures and has to be considered for a bet in this race. Always good to invest in a handler with this kind of respectable win percentage - 23 percent - at this distance & surface. Garnered a formidable speed rating in the last race. Can run another good one in this contest. POINT OF VICTORY - Has been running soundly lately and will almost certainly be on the front end early on. She should have a strong performance versus this less demanding bunch. COMMERCIAL FLASH - Demonstrates the look of a profitable play, averaging a solid 52 Equibase speed fig which is one of the top in this group. Could beat this group of animals given the 61 Equibase Speed Fig recorded in her last outing.

IZEONPOINT - Has been moving admirably and has among the best speed in the race for today's distance. Must be given a chance - I like the figures from the last race.

ARANJUEZ - Taking a class drop in class rating points from his Jan 6th race at Aqueduct. Based on that data point, I will give this thoroughbred the edge. This colt should be in fine condition, this far into his form cycle. Sub-par effort last time around the track at Aqueduct was due to the off-going (he finished fifth). Expect better right here on a fast track. BONEYARDHOLLER - Taking a big drop in Equibase class figure points from his November 19th race at Churchill Downs. Based on that key piece of info, I will give this animal the advantage. Based on this gelding's recent efforts, he should be aided by this race's shorter trip. Generally speaking, horses on Lasix for the first time should be considered. That's what we have here.

This steed ran a disappointing speed figure in the last race. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will probably suffer defeat in today's race running that figure.

1^st race [Md 20000, 6F] – (4) Any Minute will make his third start of the year following a layoff. He was second last time with a jump in speed figures. (6) Boneyardholler was claimed out of his debut at Churchill Downs in November from Norm Casse for $30,000 and is now in the barn of Bruce Levine. He returns as a new gelding and with Lasix. (1) Jokemeister ships this guy up from Parx after a place finish in his second start when he had the lead in the stretch. (7) Analysis debuted at 8-1 for Jimmy Ryerson where he got bumped and pinched back at the start.


3^rd race [NY, Clm 25000, 7F] – (2) Big Al’s Gal (B) was claimed from her last two starts including most recently when she pressed the pace on the inside on a day when the rail was not the place to be. (5) Saratoga Beauty was claimed from her last seven starts and new trainer George Weaver does not claim horses very often. (3) Keepmyeyeontheboys has been off since July and gets hot rider Trevor McCarthy to ride. (4) Gringotts returns to NY-bred company. She has a great record at Aqueduct and was third against open company last time.


5^th race [Md 50000, 7F] – (1) King of Hollywood moved from turf to dirt last time at Aqueduct going a mile, had the lead, finished second while racing in the three-path on an inside favoring track. He comes back in just 11 days. (2) Good Skate has a pair of seconds in his last two starts and gets Lasix for the first time. (8) Good Tip debuted at Laurel for Rudy Rodriguez in a maiden special weight on a muddy track at 8-1. He will get Lasix and blinkers for the first time. (6) Sensibleconclusion made his first start in November at odds of 6-1, got claimed for $40,000, and now returns with Lasix.


8^th race [NY, Clm 25000, 6F] – (4) Dream Bigger (C) was a winner last time in an open company claimer when he was bet down from 6-1 to 4-1 three weeks ago. (3) Golani Brigade returns to NY-bred competition and gets a rider change to Dylan Davis who won with him the last time he was on board. (2) Dark Money was claimed out of his last seven races and now is with Rudy Rodriguez who will move him back to this level where he raced at Saratoga and Belmont Park. He has five wins at the Big A. (1) P J Advantage has nine career wins and returns from a November layoff.

2nd race – (5) Mr Tito’s (C) dropped from 7-5 to even money and won easily. Should be tough to beat off the Joseph claim. (3) Gods Promise also exits a nice win and can be the main foe. (1) Chucky could be hard to catch from the rail. (2) Malibu Max missed by a head last time and can make his presence felt. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5. Exactas: 3-5 over 1-2 and 1-2 over 3-5.

4th race – (3) Confidenceinterval rallied belatedly in her debut but can take a step forward here. (2) Aunt Naughty was second off a lengthy layoff and should benefit from that try. (4) Mine for Passion was second ahead of the top pick and cannot be ignored. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-4. Doubles: 2-3-4 with 1-2-4-7.

5th race – (2) Harper’s in Charge has been working bullets since a disappointing local debut and can rebound here. (4) Simply the Best seems destined to be second-best. (7) Tracy Ann’s Legacy takes a big class drop and should be a contender. (1) Starship Nebula can work out a nice trip from the rail. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-4-7.

7th race – (7) Face of Victory is in great form. He’s been no worse than second in his last six starts and should prove best in this field. (5) Uncork the Bottle was a wide third last time and figures to be more a threat here. (3) Doo Wop Don can a contender with Saez in this spot. (4) You’re Killin Me ships in from Hawthorne and seems to fit in with these. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-4-5-7.

9th race – (10) Miss Sakamoto debuts for Clement and looks poised for a strong try. (5) Bali Baby runs equally well on turf and Tapeta and should be the main competition. (7) Laughing Lass is another firster who may have some potential. (1) Comedic may get the last laugh from the rail. Betting strategy: 10 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-7-10.
