Murray State has now been ranked for THREE straight weeks, moving up to No. 19 this past Monday. The Racers are 26-2 overall, 16-0 in OVC play and enter tonight's home contest with Belmont on a 16-game winning streak. The Racers have already clinched a share of the league's regular-season title and will claim it outright if they can defeat the Bruins (24-5, 14-2) for the second time this season. Murray State rolled to an 82-60 win at Belmont back on Jan 15 but let me note that Belmont visits Murray, Ky on a 10-game winning streak of its own.
Belmont's starting-five is led by the 6-11 Muszynski (16.4 & 5.3), who is joined by guards Sheppard (16.3), Richard (11.8 & 5.9), Smith (8.7) and Murphy (7.4 & 6.2 APG). The Bruins average 80.4 PPG (13th) on 49.5% shooting (5th). The 6-7 Williams leads Murray State in scoring (17.6) and rebounding (8.6), while guard Brown adds 16.5 & 5.4 (he has 89 three-pointers this season and holds the OVC career mark of 337). The third-leading scorer is PG Hill (13.3 & 5.1.APG. He established career highs of 36 points and eight 3-pointers in last month's rout of Belmont. The 6-7 Burns (6.3 & 6.5) and guard Colins (4.8) round out the starting-five. The 6th-man is guard Hannibal, who chips in 8.8 & 4.9. Murray St scores almost as much as Belmont (79.8 PPG ranks 17th) but defends better. The Racers allow just 62.2 PPG (26th) to the Bruins' 68.5 PPG.
Murray t has to lose some time, right? The Racers almost were handed a conference loss by lowly UT Martin on Saturday before escaping with a 62-60 victory. Why not lose here to Belmont, which has won 19 of its last 21 and 10 in row, with four victories by 20 or more points. Yes, The Pacers dominated the Bruins on their home court back on Jan 15 but Belmont had defeated Murray State FOUR straight times prior to that. Take the points.

I'll take my chances with the OVER 223 in tonight's game between the Warriors and Blazers. This doesn't feel like near enough points for this matchup. Portland was playing some surprisingly good basketball going into the break, as they racked up 4 straight wins over the Lakers, Knicks, Bucks and Grizzlies.
The loss of Nurkic is a big blow for them sustaining that success, but I still think they are going to pack a punch offensively with their new look backcourt of Anfernee Simmons and Josh Hart. Simmons has been one of the more underrated players in the league this year, as he's played exceptional filling in for Lillard. Simmons averaged over 30 ppg in the 4-game win streak. Hart has averaged 24 ppg in the 3 games he's played since coming to Portland from New Orleans.
This is also not a great Warriors defense without Draymond Green on the floor. Golden State gave up 115.6 ppg on 48% shooting in their last 5 games before the All-Star break.
On the flip side, the Warriors' offense should have a field day in this one. Portland is really lacking in size down low without Nurkic. In the Blazers last game they gave up 74 points to the Grizzlies backcourt duo of Morant and Bane. Now they face an even more lethal combo in Curry and Thompson. Give me the OVER 223!

Thursday NBA Free play. My selection is on the 'over' between Golden State and Portland at 10 pm et on Thursday.
We've seen glimpses of the 'run-and-gun' Warriors of old recently as they've scored 110+ points in 10 of their last 12 games while also giving up 106+ points in 10 of their last 11 contests. Here, we find the Blazers coming off four consecutive wins, both SU and ATS, despite a fire sale prior to the trade deadline. That's notable as the 'over' is a solid 15-3 with the Blazers coming off at least three consecutive ATS wins over the last three seasons, resulting in an average total of 236.3 points. When playing with double-revenge over the last three seasons, also the case here, we've seen Portland post a 31-17 o/u mark with an average total of 231.2 points in that spot. The Warriors are unlikely to be in a forgiving mood here as they come out of the break following consecutive outright losses as a favorite. I suspect they'll have no trouble blasting a non-existent Blazers defense but I do think Portland might just be along for the ride as it continues to ride a short-term wave of positive momentum out of the break. Take the over.

The Flames are 10-0 and have held opponents to 2 or less goals in 9 of them. They are healthy, rested and a very good road team this year. Until recent action, the Canucks had been defending well at 5 on 5, but have the worst PK in the league. Scoring is a big issue for the Canucks, and against the best defense in the league and a extra-motivated ex-Canuck goalie in Markstrom, it could be tough to generate any offense. In three of their last 5 games, Vancouver has stunk out the arena, giving up more than 4 goals. If they play in a similar fashion tonight, this one could get ugly. My only concern is Calgary taking the Canucks too lightly. Take the Flames to win, again.

The USC Trojans are 23-4 this season and and 2nd place in the Pac-12. They have played some of their best basketball on the road this season at 7-2 with their only losses coming to Arizona and Stanford. They should make easy work of the struggling Oregon State Beavers tonight.
Oregon State has lost 12 straight games with 10 of their last 11 losses coming by double-digits to fall to 3-22 this season, including 1-14 in Pac-12 play. They are simply playing out the string right now and getting blown out on a regular basis.
While the Trojans are fully healthy right now, the Beavers have been hit hard by injuries all season, especially of late. They have seven players on the injury report with three out and four questionable. It has been one of the worst disasters I've ever seen watching this team go to the Elite 8 last year to 3-22 this season.
Oregon State is 0-8 ATS following a road loss this season. USC is 7-2 ATS in its last nine road games. The Beavers are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. Bet USC Thursday.
