The Charlotte Hornets needed the All-Star break reset as they went into the break struggling. It looks to have worked as they came out of the break and crushed Toronto 125-93 at home. Now the Hornets should put away the Detroit Pistons by double-digits today as well given the tough situation. The Pistons will be playing the second of a back-to-back and their third game in four days. They lost 104-113 at home to the Celtics Saturday and now have to travel to Charlotte for this game Sunday. The Hornets beat the Pistons 140-111 at home and 141-119 on the road in their two meetings thus far this season. The Hornets are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings. Detroit is 5-19 ATS in its last 24 games off two or more consecutive ATS wins. The Pistons are 13-27-1 ATS in their last 41 games off an ATS win. Charlotte is 42-14-1 ATS in its last 57 games against teams that win less than 40% of their games. Give me the Hornets.

ASA free play on OVER 229 Detroit Pistons @ Charlotte Hornets, 7:10 PM ET - This is a great “buy low” spot on this Over as recent results for both teams has kept this O/U in check. Detroit is coming off two games after the AS Break against the Cavaliers and Celtics who are both ranked in the top 4 in defensive efficiency allowing less than 1.070-points per possession. Today the Pistons face a Charlotte defense that is one of the worst in the NBA so even though the Pistons have struggled offensively they should get untracked today. The Hornets rank 21st in defensive efficiency, allow 114PPG (28th), 19th in FG% defense and 20th in 3-point percentage defense. Detroit is also bad defensively ranking 25th in DEFF giving up 1.135PPP and 112.5PPG. Charlotte is going to score here with the highest scoring offense in the league at 114PPG anchored by the 10th best 3-points percentage. Lastly, these two teams like to play fast so we know we are going to get plenty of scoring opportunities for a high scoring game. The Hornets are 2nd in the league in pace, Detroit is 12th.

Looks like a good spot to pull the trigger on the hungry home side. Neither team will be in the playoffs, but the 16-33-4-1 Kraken are just 7-16-1-1 on the road, while the 23-23-4-2 Sharks are a slightly more respectable 12-12-2-1 at home. This is a revenge game for SJ after it fell 3-2 at Seattle in late January. Seattle has lost 6 straight and I don't see that streak of futility ending here vs. the revenge-minded Sharks; consider San Jose on Sunday night!

2^nd race [NY, Md 40000, 7F] – (2) BC Glory Days will drop into the maiden claiming ranks for the first time with past races that are good enough to win at this level. (4) Got the Gold has a pair of starts in this maiden claiming condition amongst maiden special weight races but the claimers are his best. (6) Mr. Buckley returns from a July layoff as a new gelding and also makes the drop in for a tag for the first time. (3) Street Culture has been off for a year having made one start and has moved from Chad Brown to Linda Rice.

4^th race [NY, Md 25000, 1 mi] – (5) Wickosity will make his third start after a layoff having shown a significant improvement last time in both finish position and speed figures. (6) Eddie the Great has been running well at the $40,000 level and now drops to the lowest maiden claiming level for state-breds at Aqueduct. (2) Lady Mucho Man pressed the pace in her debut and finished sixth at odds of 9-2 and now gets the blinkers on for Jimmy Ryerson. (3) Regal Empire will make a big drop down from maiden special weight efforts.


7^th race [OC62k/N2X, 6F] – (3) Sibelius (C) is in the best form of his career since returning from a layoff he won a N1X allowance last time and was bet down from 7-1 to 5-1. (1) Repo Rocks was second in a pair of stakes races including the Toboggan (G3) earlier in the month at Aqueduct for controversial trainer Juan Vasquez and his 30% win rate at this meeting. (4) South Sea hit the board in his last six starts and was claimed from his two most recent races. He won in his first start on the dirt at the Big A by more than nine lengths. (8) Secret Rules does his best running at Aqueduct with four seconds and a third at this allowance level.


8^th race [NY, OC45k/N2X, 6 ½ F] – (5) Byhubbyhellomoney (C) has moved between this allowance level and stakes races against state-breds. Last time he had to steady at the start and finished third while getting bet down from 7-1 to 9-2. (3) Secret Love returns from a May layoff with a pair of seconds in this condition and a stake in the last races before the break. (9) A Bit o’ Irish Sass has been off since the summer and is a state-bred stakes winner for Rick Schosberg who is good with horses from long layoffs. (11) Betsy Blue was also seen last during Saratoga when she was second at this level. She, too, is past stakes winner against NY-breds.

4th race – (7) Ultima Copa (C) dropped from 6-1 to 9-2 then rallied belatedly for third. Seems well spotted here. (8) Amage may move forward in her second start. (9) Ginger Sparkle may shine on turf.
