The Phoenix Suns have been overvalued coming out of the All-Star Break due to having the best record in the NBA. But they just aren't the same without both Chris Paul and Cameron Johnson, and they remain without both today.
The Suns have gone just 4-4 SU & 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. Two wins have come by 3 points or less against the Knicks and Magic. They have been upset by both the Pelicans and Raptors at home during this stretch as well.
It's a great time to 'buy low' on the Lakers after dropping six of their last eight games. They crushed Washington 122-109 as just a 4.5-point home favorite last time out. They should be able to hang with the Suns without Paul and Johnson today.
The Lakers are fighting just to make the postseason at this point so they will be max motivated moving forward. The Suns are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games. Bet the Lakers Sunday.

1st race – (2) Trending (A) missed by a neck in his turf debut. Should make amends for that setback here while going off as a popular option in the wagering. (9) Native Thunder had a rough trip in his debut and could be closer with Irad aboard. (4) Tallahatchiebridge closed belatedly in his debut and should benefit from that try. (1) Grand David usually brings home a share of the purse and fits in with this group. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-4-9.

4th race – (6) Green Up has not raced since a second in her May debut at Churchill Downs. Seems to be working strongly for her first start with Pletcher. (3) I Cross My Heart showed little in her debut but might improve with Jose Ortiz aboard. (5) Loved debuts for Walsh and merits some respect. (4) Teasing raced wide in her debut and may be more competitive here. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-4-5-6.

6th race – (6) Sensual Chocolate faces state-breds here and may prove best. (8) King D was an improved third in his second start and should be a main threat. (1) Pittsburgh is a firster who could figure in the outcome. (5) Agarramesipuedes was a distant second last time and might make his presence felt once again. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. 9th race – (3) En Wye Cee didn’t fire last time but gets Irad here and seems due for a better effort. (5) American Prince has speed and could be tough to catch if he handles turf. (1) Skyro won his last start and merits some attention here. (2) Proven Strategies had a helpful tuneup for this and should not be ignored. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-5.

11th race – (8) Silvery Rill returns from a layoff since September and seems to have found a field she can handle for Clement. (5) Personal Best may turn in a top effort in her career debut. (2) Beravina might appreciate a switch to turf. (1) Howboutdemapples was third on Tapeta and should be a factor in this field. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-5-8.

5th race [Md 40000 N2L, 6F] – (7) Smart Storm (D) dropped into a claimer in his second start and got bet down from 7-1 to 5-1. He got bumped and stumbled out of the gate and then raced greenly. (5) Inspiration Point was claimed for $50,000 in the summer by Mike Maker and then was off until January and raced twice at Turfway Park back in maiden special weights. (3) Motion to Strike set the pace on a sloppy track in January and got passed in the late going. (6) Funny Joke will make his debut for Rudy Rodriguez as a horse that sold for $260,000 as a yearling.

6th race [NY, Damon Runyon, 7F] – (1) Best Idea was an impressive debut winner as the favorite for Todd Pletcher earning a speed figure that towers over this small field. (5) Rotknee won his last two starts with a maiden score at Saratoga and then an allowance last month at Aqueduct. Both wins were front-end efforts. (4) Agility gets blinkers on after a second in a NY-bred stake and a stalking maiden victory. (2) Mister Larry broke his maiden by five lengths and then ran into the second choice in the allowance.

8th race [NY, Alw 72000 N1X, 6F] – (6) Saint Selby was a debut maiden winner a year ago at the Big A and then was away from the races until June when he missed winning an allowance by a head after setting the pace. Now, he has been off for nine months. On his best, he is the winner of this gathering. (8) One Whirlwind Ride has been racing against open company in his last three starts which may explain his current form which does not look good. (5) Honor Among Men has three second-place finishes in a row including the last two from which he was claimed. New trainer Chris Englehart immediately moves him to state-bred racing. (7) Lookin for Trouble has early speed which put him into contention in his starts at this level.

9th race [NY, Md 25000, 6F] – (5) He’sgottashortfuse (D) was heavily bet down from 10-1 to 5-1 as he dropped down to this lowest level maiden claimer for NY-breds. He showed speed and then finished fourth. (6) Vincent had the lead in the stretch and ended up second in his first career start. (2) Appalachian Legend returns from a December layoff as a new gelding with first-time Lasix. (9) Crostata B C was 6-1 in her debut race in January for a $40,000 tag. Blinkers come off after being fractious in the gate. Maybe, improves with a race of experience.

Best bets: Best Idea (6th); Saint Selby (8th). Best value: Smart Storm (5th); He’sgottashortfuse (9th).
